My Tribrid System: More than a Monster

Chapter 184: Vine Snakes (3)

Chapter 182

Even before the vines revealed themselves as predatory beasts, Kai had already been on guard.

So the moment the forest came alive, he wasted no time in sending a crystal shard flying, causing it to tear into the head of one of these vine creatures all too easily.

Before a second could realize what was occurring, it merely saw a flash of light purple and then it crumpled to the ground.

In that moment, the vine snakes in the area where Kai stood—about twenty of them—all turned their collective attention toward the beautiful meta-human.

"Yeah. Let’s get the killing started." Kai grinned as he slipped the bandana to cover only a single eye.

And without hesitation, the twenty vine snakes lunged forward with impressive speed.

While some outright launched themselves through the air, others slithered around the trunks, allowing them to come for him from every corner of his vision.

No Aspirants stood around him from the start because they didn’t want to be near him as he scanned the plants.

They knew that they wouldn’t obtain anything the more they lingered around him.

So, the beautifully handsome Aspirant stood alone.

... This was perfect.

At least nobody else but him would get hurt.

And nobody else but the beasts would be dead.

One of the snakes opened its maw wide, revealing an incredibly thin tongue that was as slim as a thread.

It shot toward Kai’s face with startling velocity.

All the human did was lift a single hand, which was encased in a shimmering crystal gauntlet.

This tongue crashed into the guard and slid harmlessly off it.

Then, without looking back, he bashed the same gauntlet-clad hand into the face of a vine snake sneaking behind him.

Its head immediately turned into a bloody pulp.

’Hm... just awakened beasts? Damn. Was expecting something stronger to be honest.’

From the first few clashes, the Aspirant realized the true rank of the monsters.

If they had actually been at the advanced rank, it would have taken more than a single hit to take them down.

Awakened beasts were simply more than a piece of cake for the beautiful human.

But that didn’t mean they wouldn’t come without their own brand of trouble.

... One of these complications was attacking in a group, which they were currently doing with Kai.

Even though they were individually weak, their numbers could prove to be a headache for him regardless of whether he was a Grade 6 meta-human or not.

Leaping backward, he avoided the snapping mouth of one of the serpents.

But the moment his feet touched the soil, he could see another laying in wait; without hesitation, it flew toward his leg.

Twirling his body around fluidly, he dodged the beast’s mouth.

But before it could go flying too far, he swung his leg forward, his limb now being encased in his ability.

Smashing it into the snake’s side, its green flesh caved in almost immediately before its whole body was sent flying into the distance.

Quickly bending down low, another one flew past his head before he spun around while still in his crouched position.

He swung his hand forward, crashing it into the mouth of another beast before proceeding to smash its head into the ground afterward.

The ground cracked beneath the weight of the blow, with the beast’s head splintering into fragments.

Springing back to his feet with the mouth of the dead beast still clamped to his hand, he grinned as a sudden idea flashed through his head. Without wasting a second, he rushed to execute this plan.

One of the snakes still curled up nicely on a branch stared at the human prey below, waiting for its own time to attack while the others were getting their as... tails beat.

Leaping to the side hauled his hand which had the dead beast on it bashing it into the side of another.

Ducking under an attack, he still swung the dead beast upward smashing it into the vine snake and allowing it to crash on the ground.

The snakes now circled around him with malicious intents in their hiss.

They were now furious at the fact that the human in front of them was using the dead body of their ally to beat them down.

The remaining dozen or so of these vine snakes quickly lunged towards him.

The smile on his smooth face widened with Kai shifting into a stance and then...

Bam—! Bam—! Bam—!

The bodies of the vine snakes were being flung around crashing into trees as a tall, blonde hair stood in their midst.

He was swinging the body of a dead beast around like a baseball bashing it into the other slithering snakes and sending them flying.

At some point, when the impact and effect he desired reduced, he vaulted backwards then simultaneously hurled the dead beast into the air before grabbing it by its already destroyed tail.

The moment he landed back on the ground, he bolted forward with impressive agility. Reaching the beasts before they could reach him, he continued his madness.

But now, instead of the tail of the dead beast being used against them, it was now the head which created a more deadly impact compared to before.

Coupled with his crazy strength, he had no problem pulverising the vine snakes’ bodies with the dead one in his grip.

Each smash carried the power of a baseball player hitting a homer run which in turn sent the beasts flying through the air and colliding with either the ground or the trees.

Within mere moments, Kai had successfully destroyed the beasts in the area and in his hand now lay a totally destroyed vine snake.

Its head was missing and the remaining slender part of its body was smashed beyond recognition.

Blood splattered across Kai’s hands painting his white sleeves brown.

But he didn’t care as a grin appeared on his face.

"A job well-done," He beamed as he flung the dead beast in his hand away.

Turning away, he just took a single step forward when,

Hisss—!

Spinning around, his eyes widened as the last beast which had been hiding in the trees was now in front of him too fast for him to actually react as it was now deadly close to his face.
