Chapter 397: Strings
Oskar’s hand went to his waist where a cloth rope was tied around his waist. He untied the rope with one single tug, the rope instantly covered in grey energy, making the rope hard like a metal. He swung it upward to clashed with the sword arc!
Boom!
The two collided, kinetic heat and shockwave spread like a ripple in water, the same grey energy covered him and Oskar held for a few seconds before he was pushed back, the force sending him reeling back unsteadily on his flying instrument.
He looked up at Vale with a shocked expression, his face filled with pure shock. Sweat covering his forehead from the high temperature.
The ripple of shock spread to the rest of the forces, especially those that have never seen Vale, an Errant Knight, fight a Master Knight before. It was different from hearing it, when now they could see how! Even more, they all knew the strength of Saints in every rank.
Oskar himself was a bit speechless. Of course he had of Vale and how he fought Master Knights but he never truly think such can happen to him because he’s someone that actively knows his own strength and without mincing words, he’s strong!
Vale rested the sword on his shoulder, the temperature around him on a continuous rise. His brows furrowed slightly as if he was worried about something. "You....You’re not as strong as the WaterLord. But how can that be? You’re a Saint and you should be a powerful Master Knight in your own right. Are you holding back?"
Oskar gritted his teeth. "WaterLord...she’s classified as mid Master Knight in power ranking. I am Late Master Knight...you? Don’t tell me you are High Master Knights?"
How is that power? In all the Hinterlands, there might be a fluke and they’ll eventually produce Master Knights like WaterLord in the mid rank now and then. But High? How is that possible when they don’t have the resources of High Clans?
Even Oskar only reached this Late rank because of his status as a Saint! Even he dare not lay claim on High rank Master Knight!
Vale sneered. "If you call WaterLord Freya as a mid rank then what are you? Don’t you think you are a little biased and simply looking down on Hinterlands?"
The WaterLord really left a deep impression on Vale Athrimir and if not for the circumstances, she’s not the type to die because she has many uses, but at the same time, those types of people can’t bend their neck!
Vale continued. "Although I wonder why you are sent here if you’re as precious as you think you are. Besides, you are a fool to have looked down on me. Or do you judge just because of my fight with Herdmaster?"
That was another fight that had an even deeper impression on Vale. Soul battles has now become something to be weary about.
"Even as wounded as I am. I will still beat two of your same power level senseless!" Vale boasted without reservations.
Tiber told him that this early in his ’conquest’ he needs to be having decisive victory. He needs to show strength in an absolute and overwhelming way.
His eyes lit up and he pointed with his left hand. "And so, I’ll rank you as mid rank Master Knight and WaterLord as late! With this, can you clearly see the difference between us?"
Oskar has never felt this type of anger, fury covered his face, turning it ugly. Never in his life has he seen someone disregard him like that. He dropped the rope he was holding and brought out rings in his spatial ring.
Vale was content to watch him.
Ten rings in total and each rings have independent thin metal strings. Oskar worked his fingers and each string can extend and retract.
"Interesting, I’ve never fought anyone who fight with strings. And, from your earlier move it seems you can make something hard? Some kind of weight or hardness? So this strings are going to carry weight and if you swing them around like that...." Vale analysis aloud solemnly.
Although he behaved in an arrogant manner, Vale did not underestimate his opponent.
Oskar was so furious that it seems he can’t even think straight. He swung his two hands up and down, each fingers moving in different ways and manner. At the same time, the strings got covered in grey energy.
Then they extended, buzzing loudly in the air, all cutting straight at Vale! They look like then think fingers trying to scrape him from the air but Vale did not move from his place, he raised his left and pushed it forward, instantly creating a shield of translucent red to block the attack.
The strings collided with the shield and bounced back, but at the same time the shield also shattered.
Oskar’s eyes narrowed when he saw this. ’....a strong defense but not that strong. I now realize why I was advice to kill him swiftly. I can’t let this go on for longer!..if I can just touch him once, then everything will be over...’
What he avoided thinking about though, was the fact that Vale might just be far stronger than him. That was something Oskar was not willing to give a thought to!
The next moment he shook his hands out, making the strings on his right fingers to combine and turn into a single whip. The same for his left hand, now he’s left with just two whip. Then the aura around him bellowed upward, covering him like a fog of grey. His whip was now heavily crawling with the same energy, making them to appear bulky, the space around it seems to fizzled as if it were supporting something with an incredible weight.
Vale’s eyes narrowed and he knew that he could not use his shield again.
Oskar swung one of the whips. A sound echo through the air as if winds were being brutally torn apart.
Vale saw a line of grey line coming for him, so fast and that he might have missed it if he blinked. It was that fast! Thankfully, his body began moving as soon as he saw it and he avoided it easily enough.
The whip continue downward, it hit the ground and shattered it, the whip going straight through in a three sixty as if the ground was simply a wet paper!
Vale had just dodged it but it was already on him again! So fast? It was even faster than before!
He avoided it again and the whip continued its three sixty, turning even faster than it was almost difficult for Vale to spot it!
Just then, Oskar also swung his other hand.
Vale grunted and snorted. He ignored the whips and flew out of range, flying high above. But Oskar seems to know what he was down as golden light surged around him and his flying instrument, propelling the two after Vale.
Vale laughed as he flew backwards, his sword still on his shoulder as he maintained a slightly higher ground. "I think I know your power now! You can add density to things! And you’ve made your whip interesting indeed, making the tips more heavier than the rest of the body, naturally making each turn faster than the last! This is also the reason you want to get close to me!"
His plan was simple. Keep Vale overwhelmed and eventually he’ll get hit by the whip, which will allow him to close the distance and finish him off if the whip didn’t!
And if Vale was on ordinary person then maybe that would have worked. But his red eyes was lit up, and he could still see the vague outline of the whip even though with the speed they’re achieved, it shouldn’t be possible!
"You want to keep me overwhelmed....I can do that too! Dominion Slash! Dominion Slash!"
"Dominion Slash!"
"Dominion Slash!"
"Dominion Slash!"
The air grew uncomfortably hot for everyone around as five Dominion Slashs cut the air with blazing heat.
Oskar’s eyes fell as stopped flying closer to face the technique, his whip angling towards the sword beams, his body heating up. Instantly the movement of his whip changed as they unraveled and turned into strings with more grey energy added on. The strings cut up the five Dominion Slash and turn them into pieces of unmolded fire in the air. This first still continue downward, causing a small explosion that surrounded Oskar.
But at the last moment, a golden shield surrounded the man, blocking the fire from directly harming him. When everything cleared, Oskar was breathing hard and covered in sweat. The flow of his strings were gone and now lay limp around his fingers, each fingers trembling.
He looked up at Vale with shock. As the one who faced a single Dominion Slash he knew the amount of power packed into the dominating technique. But five? How can he do five of them in a single breath and not use up his powers?
Right then, Oskar felt a chill from the very bottom on his heart.
