Sumatra's Greatest Fan

Chapter 174: Ruogarg City

Ruogarg City!

Fifty kilometres away from Binkn City was this City, ruled by a Wean Clan family, established precisely to rear one of the most expensive Nests. The Nest was partially submerged in water, with shores covered by grassy vegetation.

It occupied an area of 200 square kilometres and was home to over 8,000 Centingers. The number was pretty high, especially considering Centingers were one of the strongest Silver Grade Pranic Beasts.

"A pleasant surprise!" Came a man rushing into the station the moment Torq exited his pod. "To what do I owe the pleasure of your visit, Lord GaraBuntara?"

"I want to purchase a Millinger." Torq explained his purpose, "And a male and female Centingers too. The younger they are, the better it is."

"Oh?" The man’s eyes lit up in response as he made a formal bow, "I am HayTutara. Would you like a tour of the Nest first?"

"Sure," Torq nodded, for he wanted to gain information about all the environmental conditions the Wean Clan family before him employed to control the appearance of Millingers.

The Centinger Race had a solid method to create Millingers. Therefore, the moment they find themselves in a dangerous situation, more Millingers will make an appearance in the next generation.

It was pretty much impossible to keep a Millinger in check, due to its abilities. Therefore, they had to constantly keep an eye on the Nest’s environment to prevent Millinger birth. Or when according to a demand, they’ll result in the birth of more Millingers.

’Either way, only when they have comprehensive knowledge would they be able to maintain this Nest.’ As long as he obtained the necessary data, he could avoid a lot of trial and error.

At present, he had only figured out the means to nerf into disappearance the Primary Nature of a Boutique Lizard. He hadn’t yet completed the process in which he could universally nerf into disappearance any Nature from any Pranic Beast of his choice.

The reason he was hurrying to complete at least a few steps of his plan was to participate in the excursion to Nusantara Continent planned by the Celestial Boar. It would be nice to broaden his horizons on the actual scope of the enemy’s capabilities.

Moreover, with the Celestial Boar accompanying them, unless the Celestial Rotocok makes a personal appearance, nothing much would happen to them. ’This probably isn’t the time yet. It still has multiple other enemies to deal with before it can dare take on the Celestial Boar.’

Sumatra Continent has plenty of absurdly powerful existences capable of mass destruction, even to extents damaging a Continent’s foundation.

Even though the Celestial Rotocok could easily kill the Celestial Boar, in the time it takes to deliver the kill, these other existences would invade Nusantara Continent and wreak irrecoverable damage.

That was why the Celestial Rotocok was steady in its plans to destroy Sumatra, taking steps to systematically destroy one foe after another, despite its overwhelming strength.

’I must take part, no matter what.’ Torq thought as he accompanied HayTutara and scaled up the flight of stairs situated on the outer wall of the Centinger Nest.

"The Centingers enter their mating only once a Century." HayTutara spoke once they had reached the top, and pointed below to display the various segments in the Nest, "Each segment is part of a different generation. Even though they mate only once a Century, the timings for each segment are different."

"We have developed it to the extent that there is at least one segment that will enter the mating season every decade." It was clearly evident that HayTutara was extremely proud of their achievements, "Based on the demand, we can supply as many Centinger Eggs as necessary within a decade’s time."

A decade wasn’t long considering the state of things, as Gold Grade existences live past a millennium. ’Their efficiency is stellar.’

Torq was amazed by the resourcefulness displayed once he observed the Centingers living contentful lives, ’Seems all their needs are met here, or at least, they have been made to think as such.’

Using a Centinger Nature as a one-time-use Nature by the Empyrean Boar Race was pretty wasteful in terms of resources. However, it could be treated as a life-saving method.

After all, if the Empyrean Boar ever found itself in a precarious situation, it could use the Centinger’s Primary Nature to carpet bomb the place into oblivion.

"Look there," HayTutara pointed at a certain segment, "It has finished its mating season not long ago. Look at those shiny things in the shallower parts. Those are Centinger eggs."

As Torq focused on the spot, he felt various levels of hunger. Suddenly, his gaze fell upon a rock that instilled in him a stronger sense of hunger, "There’s one of us camouflaged within that rock, right?"

"How...?" HayTutara blurted out in shock. But upon seeing Torq stare directly at a spot within the rock, he realised the other party hadn’t made a lucky guess, ’He’s eyeing exactly the spot within the rock where my person is hiding.’

"Your senses are incredible," HaTutara sighed and explained, "It’s how we harvest the Centinger eggs. We have underground pathways leading to such rocks all over the nest. One of our people will remain in hiding there for at least a couple months, sneakily taking one egg after another to ensure the Centinger never realises what is happening."

"How many eggs do you take?" Torq asked.

"Anywhere between thirty to seventy percent, based on demand and the Centinger population within the respective segment." He pointed towards another corner of the nest, "If we have too many eggs, we’ll open up a new segment and rear them there."

"What about the Millingers?" Torq asked next.

"There’s usually one for every hundred or so Centinger eggs. We prioritise removing them first, so that they don’t hatch here." HayTutara wiped his sweat, shuddering as he recounted a past incident, "One time, a Varahan Empire bastard managed to sneak through our defences and placed a Millinger egg in one of the segments."

"Before we could notice, it hatched." He groaned, "All the Centingers immediately treated the Millinger as their king and gave their undivided attention to it. The moment the Millinger appeared, it already made plans to break out of the Nest."

"The other segments were showing signs of being affected by its presence too." He expressed anger, "In the end, we had to kill everyone in that segment just to ensure the nest doesn’t break free from our control. Our losses were severe."

"Where do you hold the Millinger eggs in that case?" Torq came to the crux of the matter.

"Generally, we don’t." HayTutara shook his head, "Since it’s a Mutated Pranic Beast with two Natures, we cannot make use of it. We do hold captive a few Millingers to extract its flesh and blood for consumption. But as for the rest,"

"We just chuck the eggs into the Red-Draft River." He said, "It is their home, after all. And as long as we ensure the eggs reach the Red-Draft River before they hatch, we don’t have to worry about a possible Millinger invasion."

"I see," Torq nodded, "Then, about what I want..."

"You’re in luck," HayTutara nodded, "There are still a few Millinger eggs in our possession."

"By the way," Since he could get an unhatched Millinger egg, Torq became relaxed, "Would it be possible for you to give me data related to your nest?"

"At a price, of course." HayTutara smirked without hesitation and whistled aloud, alerting his family as he began introductions, "There’s a talented child in our family."

"Why don’t you two have a chat while we prepare the things necessary for you?"
