Then he would use the mark to pull Sword Maestro up like a fisherman reeling up a hooked fish.But Tepid Scholar interfered and removed the mark from Sword Maestro. So he had to send an avatar to retrieve the ungrateful disciple of his for proper discipline. It turned out that it was a trap.

If they hadn’t been distrustful of each other and unwilling to commit too much, they might have killed an avatar of his. But he had still lost a lot to escape.

That way, no one else would be able to create a Supreme Metac and escape his control, or be used as bait to lure him down into the Sea of Worlds. But by doing so, he stopped being able to gain more Supreme Metacs through his sect.
That’s what Sword Maestro cost him, so the little humiliation ritual he made Sword Maestro endure is just a drop in the bucket of everything he planned to do for revenge. He has a lot more things planned that are worse than some humiliation.
He couldn’t really blame Tepid Scholar for the part the Dao Lord of the Myriad Phenomenon Sect played in that scheme. After all, he had been the one to steal Tepid Scholar’s Forging Pathway first. It was only right that Tepid Scholar would cook up a scheme to get back at him.
