Harem System In A fantasy World

Chapter 627: Lets go say hello

The group eventually began making their way down the slope of the packed city toward the docks, where it seemed almost everyone else in Haven was headed as well.

All sorts of people filled the streets.

Some were actually involved in the upcoming Legacy World expedition, but most were simply curious and wanted to witness the gathering for themselves.

The only people who seemed completely uninterested were the ever-busy money grabbers who continued working tirelessly behind their stalls and shops, clearly determined to squeeze every possible coin out of the massive influx of visitors.

Elion barely paid them any attention.

Though his brief back-and-forth with the system had been interrupted by Mayumi’s unexpected appearance, he still kept a wary eye on Nora, who also kept stealing glances at him.

’I wonder what’s going on in that woman’s head...’

There was no way that reading was accurate; they had only just met, after all. If it was actually right, then that would be very concerning.

’System, I sure do hope that this is some kind of joke you are playing on me.’

[...]

The system didn’t answer.

Elion sighed, putting the matter aside.

Only time would tell what Nora’s plans were. His thoughts had already drifted toward the Legacy World.

He couldn’t help feeling excited.

He had left the Ark behind with Zenith, just as he had planned.

For now, it would eventually be passed on to Isla and Celeste so they could use it at their leisure.

Mostly Isla, though.

Giving it up meant sacrificing a massive advantage in mobility, but Elion wasn’t too bothered by that.

His wings were more than capable. If anything, this was probably a good opportunity to finally put them to proper use.

He had barely spent any meaningful time learning how to fly with them effectively, much less how to incorporate them into combat.

The Legacy World would give him plenty of opportunities to change that.

Travelling, fighting, and other things like learning how quickly he could accelerate, how sharply he could turn, and how much stamina extended flight consumed.

What advantages they gave him in battle, and, naturally, what weaknesses came with relying on them too much.

There was quite a lot he still didn’t know that he was looking forward to finding out. Before long, the group of nine reached the final few streets leading toward the docks.

The atmosphere here was even more vibrant. Voices overlapped from every direction.

Carriages moved through the streets, and guards shouted instructions.

Merchants called out to passing crowds, yet the first thing Elion noticed wasn’t the noise.

It was the salty sea breeze.

The scent of the ocean grew stronger with every step, cool air brushing against his face as the streets finally opened up toward the waterfront.

And there, dominating the harbour... Was the enormous vessel he had watched flying over Haven earlier that day.

Elion’s eyes narrowed slightly as he took it in properly for the first time. Its grandeur was perhaps comparable to the Ark of Infinity’s own.

Perhaps not on quite the same scale.

But still...

A flying ship was undeniably impressive.

Near the ship, however, Elion’s gaze was suddenly drawn toward a large group of academy students, all of whom were wearing a very familiar uniform in different colours and designs.

A faint smile appeared on his face as he recognised more than a few familiar faces among them.

He continued walking quietly with his group, briefly considering whether he should go over and say hello.

’Surely there’s no harm in it?’

With the superior vision granted by his World Eyes, Elion could make out every face among the academy group with vivid clarity, despite the distance separating them.

His girls were all there, several professors as well, a bunch of upperclassmen he’d never gotten to know, and Xavier Dawncrest.

Elion’s smile slowly changed into a dangerously calm look.

’It’ll be interesting to see how he reacts to seeing me after what just happened to his father.’ For the briefest moment, a malevolent red glint passed through his eyes.

He should have been happy.

After all, the man who had been seeking to end his life was dead.

The news had only reached Elion earlier that day, actually, and even now, he couldn’t be entirely certain how reliable it was.

The source hadn’t been anyone he personally knew.

Instead, it had come through one of Jaeneva’s friends, an information broker who apparently kept track of important developments throughout the kingdom.

Elion couldn’t bring himself to feel particularly excited.

Someone had beaten him to it, after all, and he had been looking forward to tormenting the man, making him regret being alive, before finally killing him, once he begged for it sufficiently.

Now, that was nothing more than a fool’s dream.

And worse, plenty of people would undoubtedly assume that he had something to do with Cain’s sudden death.

He was starting to regret not going after him as soon as possible.

For a while, Elion had actually wondered whether Zenith might have secretly handled the matter herself at some point without telling him.

With her capabilities, slipping away, killing Cain, and returning without Elion noticing would hardly have been impossible.

But when he asked her, Zenith had given him a straightforward answer: She would never do something that important without telling him first.

Elion had been oddly pleased by that answer.

At the very least, it showed just how much her sense of tact had improved, but it left them with a much more troublesome question.

’Then who killed him?’

Elion had expected Marilyn to ask him about Cain’s death at some point, but she hadn’t mentioned it even once.

Perhaps she was waiting for a better moment, or maybe the news hadn’t reached them yet.

His gaze returned to the academy group.

Xavier was there.

But William...

Elion checked three times, but William Dawncrest was nowhere to be seen. A faint irritation began building inside him.

Elion kept it completely off his face, but his mood had already soured considerably.

What made it worse was Cain’s death; if the same happened to William, then who would be left for Elion to vent his anger on?

He certainly had no intention of bringing Xavier into this unless he asked for it himself; after all, the guy seemed like a genuinely sensible human being, as far as Elion had observed.

’Where the hell is he?’

Had William done something horrible to get himself kicked off the group? Elion’s eyes swept across the academy group one final time before he reluctantly gave up.

William simply wasn’t there.

That was annoying.

He had been looking forward to seeing the bastard’s face.

However, there was no point letting it ruin his mood before they had even entered the Legacy World.

If William was still part of Grimholt’s allocated group, then Elion would eventually find him, and when he did...

Well...

That was something for later.

"Elion?"

Marilyn’s voice pulled him from his thoughts.

"Hmm?"

"You’ve been staring in that direction for a while."

Elion glanced toward her before gesturing casually toward the academy students.

"I recognised some people."

Marilyn followed his gaze.

"Ah."

Her expression immediately showed understanding.

"Your old classmates?"

"Some of them," He replied. "Let’s go say hello." He changed direction before anyone could ask another question.

Marilyn sighed but followed along with the others.
