Freya and Her Beast Husbands

Chapter 29: Wilson (1)

The person also stopped in his tracks, dark, brown eyes widening at the sight of them. He accidentally dropped a few packets of snacks onto the ground in shock, left arm instinctively moving to grab his right shoulder.

"Y-you’re back already?!" The beastman exclaimed in horror, turning his body to hide the right side of his body. "W... were you speeding again?! How did you get here so fast?!"

Xavier instantly moved in front of her blocking her view as well, her hand dropping back to her side as he moved away from her. However it was too late by then. Freya had seen what they were trying to hide.

This beastman was missing his right arm.

"The reporters were chasing after us, Wilson. Some are even lingering around the front." Xavier retorted. "Still, we didn’t mean to scare you like that... Freya, you didn’t see anything right?"

"Not a thing." Freya quickly responded.

It was a blatant lie, but it seemed Wilson was quite sensitive about people seeing him. She could pretend she saw nothing if it made things better. Though her mind was in overdrive.

Because she was quickly realizing the person Xavier had accidentally used his power on was his brother. Or maybe he was born that way, but it was too much of a coincidence to be that. At least in her mind.

"Y-you don’t have to lie...." Wilson murmured in a much softer tone. "I’m missing my arm, not my eyesight."

Xavier sighed, running his right hand through his hair. "Wilson..."

"Don’t start, Xavier." Wilson interrupted. He was quiet for a moment before he mused, "We might as well get introduced..."

"You sure?" Xavier asked with a hint of concern in his voice. "You don’t... Fine, we can do this in the kitchen. Let me just put these down."

"Souunds good to me." Wilson said followed by the sound of rustling.

Xavier turned to Freya, who was a little confused as to what was going on. He then said, "I’m going to put the bags upstairs quickly. Afterwards, I’ll introduce you to my brother."

Freya silently nodded her head in understanding, glancing at Wilson out of the corner of her eye. Xavier noticed where she was looking and added, "He won’t try anything, I promise. Ethan is a... special case."

More like a troubled case, but technicalities aside, that wasn’t what she was worried about. She was more curious about Wilson if anything else.

He was quite big, taller than Xavier and looked like a blend of his brothers. His black hair was mostly straight with a few curls here and there and his facial features were on the softer side.

She had to admit he was pretty cute, missing that coldness his other two brothers had. However, she didn’t dare put her guard down. Even if Xavier told she would be fine.

Finally Freya said to Xavier, "I’m not worried about that... So, go put those bags down."

Xavier nodded his head before leaving her to take the shopping bags upstairs. Once he was gone, Freya glanced back at Wilson, who was heading back to the kitchen, snacks in hand.

She stood there awkwardly for a second before she decided to follow after him. They were going to be formally introduced in a moment, so she might as well get comfortable in his presence.

In the kitchen, Wilson was busy dumping the snacks on the counter before he pulled out a stool for himself to sit on. Freya moved to the opposite side, awkwardness filling the air.

She was facing the snake beastman when she was seated and instantly regretted it. Freya wasn’t sure whether to look at him or not. Would it be rude? He clearly didn’t like people looking at him.

"It... It’s not a birth... defect." Wilson suddenly murmured softly as he grabbed a packet of chips and used his teeth to rip the top side.

Freya blinked at his words in confusion. "Sorry what...?"

"My arm..." Wilson cringed, placing the open packet between his thighs. "I... I know beastwomen don’t like defects... It’s not so... your cubs should be healthy..."

"My cubs?" Freya murmured, trying to process his words. Then it clicked and her face went completely red. "OH GOSH NO! Please don’t say that!"

No wonder Wilson was sensitive about his missing arm and freaked out when she saw him. Others must’ve looked down on him because of his disability, making him assume such horrible things.

"Look Wilson..." Freya said, taking a deep breath to calm herself. "I think you have the wrong idea..."

She went silent, wondering how she was going to explain to him that Xavier and her relationship wasn’t like that even if they tied the knot. Not that that really mattered anyway.

Finally she said, "A disability doesn’t make you less than anyone else, birth defect or otherwise. I don’t have any issue with you as long as you’re a good person."

As someone who had been looked down by many for her chubbiness, a part of her could relate to him. Could understand how hard it was to love yourself, even with support around you.

It had taken her many years to fully accept who she was and learn to properly love herself. And some days were harder than others.

Granted she knew not having an arm was a completely different experience. Things were harder to do if you didn’t have the right help or tools. Of course, one could adjust to living without it, but it would take some time.

Especially if one was used to doing things with two hands.

"I..." Wilson gaped at her, not sure what to say for a moment. "You... You’re okay with it? You don’t... hate Xavier for not telling you..."

"I’m perfectly fine with it." Freya responded. "And as for Xavier not telling me... Well that doesn’t really matter."

"I see.." Wilson mused, grabbing some chips.

The room went silent once more with the occasional crinkling of the chip packet filling the air every now and then. Awkwardness filled the air once again, but Freya wasn’t sure how to broach it.

Finally Wilson broke the silence and asked, "Do you like my brother?"
