Chapter 186: Better Gift Packs
Kai’s eyes widened as he recognized the blades hanging at their sides.
"Wait... Steelbreaker?!" he gasped.
Only a few weeks had passed since he had transferred the Steelbreaker Sword’s blueprint, along with the Repeater Crossbow’s, to Elena.
She was the only Survivor with a Master‑Grade Artisan Talent, so there had been no doubt about her ability to craft them. But still, Kai hadn’t expected her to produce so many weapons in such a short time.
"Elena... where did you get enough—Ah!" His words trailed off as he realized the answer to his own question.
He had seen the blueprint himself. He knew exactly what material matched the requirements.
"You noticed?" Elena smiled knowingly. "That’s right. They’re all forged from the Tyrant’s armor plating. The alloy is a perfect match for the Steelbreaker Sword."
Kai nodded slowly. It made sense. Their team had harvested a large number of Tyrant parts during the previous event. Those pieces had been dismantled and stored in the warehouse, waiting for repairs or construction.
Elena had simply taken the initiative.
Furthermore, the system had allowed her to "learn" the blueprint directly. Once integrated into her Artisan Talent, the process became far more efficient. She no longer needed to reference the design every time... it was part of her skill set now.
"Tyrant’s armor... that’s perfect," Kai muttered in admiration.
Elena continued, as she patted her sword’s hilt...
"The furnace wasn’t difficult either. Just like what you suggestion the Field Tyrants have cores that function like built‑in furnaces. We modified one to fit our needs. Without that, production would’ve been impossible."
Kai nodded.
The Steelbreaker wasn’t just a sturdy blade. It was designed to shatter machines, to pierce through the hardened plating of mechanical soldiers. It had special effects brought by the system.
Having an entire squad armed with them would change everything.
"Hehe... that’s right," Elena added with a laugh. "If not for the Steelbreaker’s requirements, I’d probably just sharpen Tyrant steel with Victor’s help. Durable, sharp... but they wouldn’t carry the special effect. These swords are different. They’re made to break machines."
Kai exhaled, impressed. "I guess you have enough to make more of them. Can you craft additional sets for Freedom Shelter?"
His thoughts turned to the upcoming Surveillance Sweep. Freedom Shelter wasn’t that heavily protected yet, so equipping its defenders with Steelbreakers aside from the guns they have could mean the difference between survival and annihilation.
"Yes," Elena replied confidently. "That’s no problem. It’s for the Sweep, right? I have enough time to make twenty more before it begins. Right... I’ve already started on a batch of Repeater Crossbows too. As for arrows, they’re simpler. I’m handling the tips, while the others help with shafts and fletching."
Kai’s lips curved into a faint smile.
Twenty Steelbreakers. Repeater Crossbows... It was enough to arm both shelters with weapons designed specifically to counter machines...
Kai didn’t waste time and informed them not to focus on their Guild Mission for now. They needed to prepare the shelter for the upcoming event.
After that, Kai headed straight to the vault, pulling out more of his Gift Packs... Food, Weapons, and even the Stealth Gift Packs for the grenades...
He stacked them neatly, ensuring that everyone in Haven‑45 could access supplies whenever needed.
"Take what you need, when you need it," Kai reminded Sera, who was currently guarding the Vault.
"No hoarding. These packs are meant to keep you all alive through the Sweep."
Soon, even Althea, who was nearby, helped arrange the supplies that Kai had just taken out.
The Food Gift Packs were distributed first. Dried rations, canned goods, and nutrient bars filled the shelves, enough to sustain the shelter for weeks.
The Weapons Gift Packs followed, producing axe, guns, and ammunition that were quickly catalogued so they could be easily accessed by the fighters...
Finally, the Stealth Gift Packs were stored carefully... night vision goggles, signal jammers, and camouflage gear that could make the difference when drones passed overhead.
Kai didn’t stop there.
He joined the workers in reinforcing the shelter itself.
Together, the windows were sealed with steel plates, doors were layered with steel plates, and weak points were patched with scavenged metal.
Furthermore, he personally helped hammer boards into windows, ensuring no drone could slip through unnoticed.
Some time later, he assisted with trap placement outside, testing tripwires and adjusting angles so that any intruder would be funneled into kill zones.
By the time the work was done, Freedom Shelter looked far more reliable.
Then, as Kai wiped the sweat from his brow, a familiar chime echoed in his vision.
Ding!
[ Notification: Talent Upgrade complete. ]
[ Current Talent: Infinite Gift Pack (SSS) ]
Kai froze... The upgrade had finally finished.
Without hesitation, he checked his Talent.
[ Infinite Gift Pack (SSS): You can claim an unlimited number of Gift Packs at any time. There are no restrictions on frequency, quantity, or type. This talent grants continuous access to supplies, ensuring that Gift Packs are always available whenever you choose to obtain them. ]
It was still quite the same description.
Still, as he activated the [ Gift Pack Selection ]
He saw three tabs!
[ Basic Gift Pack Selection ]
[ Enhanced Gift Pack Selection ]
[ Superior Gift Pack Selection ]
"Superior!" Kia was expected.
Needless to say, his focus was immediately turned to three specific Gift Packs.
The first one was obviously the Weapon Gift Pack!
[ Weapon Gift Pack (Superior)
Contents: carbine rifle with spare magazines, shotgun with shell packs, spear, combat knife, protective vest, grenade launcher with smoke and fragmentation rounds, and extra ammunition crates. ]
"Oh my..." Kai was stunned as he realized that the upgrade this time was too huge!
"This is... a game changer!"
The carbine, shotgun, spear, vest, and grenade launcher were too huge an improvement to their arsenal!
Then, he swiftly turned to the second most important gift pack.
[ Stealth Gift Pack (Superior)
Contents: advanced camouflage gear, thermal detection goggles, portable disruptor field unit, flashbang grenades, decoy emitter device, and sensor‑disrupting smoke grenades ]
"Portable disruptor field unit?" Kai muttered as he saw something that caught his attention.
