Chapter 123 - 116: Can’t Explain It? Then There’s No Need to Explain Anymore_1
Wang Xiu also noticed that the young woman was holding the hand of a little girl, who looked to be about seven or eight years old, her face streaked with tears. She looked so pitiful. He frowned slightly, pushed the door open, and walked inside.
"Boss! Boss, you’re finally here, Boss—"
The moment he appeared, the underling being trampled by the Little Witch saw a glimmer of hope, his eyes shining as he shouted.
The Little Witch looked over at him, then jumped off the underling. "Are you the one in charge here?"
Wang Xiu nodded. "I am. May I ask how my men have offended you, young lady, to warrant such a response?"
The Little Witch snorted. "Does this Lord Demon King need a reason for her actions? Hand over all your account books, now!"
Account books? Wang Xiu was stunned. He had thought this Little Witch was here to rob them.
"Young lady... what do you want our account books for?"
The Little Witch spoke with righteous indignation, "To burn them, of course! Your casino has ruined countless people. This Lord Demon King is here to enforce justice on Heaven’s behalf!"
Several dark lines appeared on Wang Xiu’s forehead. Enforce justice on Heaven’s behalf? Don’t you realize Heaven isn’t on your side?
At the same time, the casino’s underlings scrambled up from the floor. One of them scurried over to Wang Xiu’s side and quickly explained what had happened.
It turned out the incident centered on the little girl the Little Witch had brought with her. The girl’s father had been lured in by the casino, developed a gambling addiction, and gradually lost his sanity, becoming utterly depraved. He not only sold everything of value in their home but had even beaten the little girl’s mother, injuring her severely.
The Little Witch happened to witness this. Without a second thought, she killed the little girl’s father and healed her mother’s injuries. Shortly after, she ran into men from the casino who had come to collect on the debt. After learning the full story, she marched the little girl straight to their door, declaring that she would tear the casino down and cancel all debts owed to it.
Naturally, the men from the casino refused.
And so... the current scene had unfolded.
...
Listening to his underling’s report, Wang Xiu’s mouth twitched uncontrollably. No doubt about it. This bizarre yet wild way of doing things... it fits the style of the legendary Demon Race girl perfectly! It must be her.
His gaze shifted slightly as he nodded. "So, you wish to destroy all the account books, is that right?"
The Little Witch declared imperiously, "Exactly! I’d advise you to be smart about this. Otherwise, this Lord Demon King’s fists are no joke..."
"Done."
Before she could finish her threat, Wang Xiu nodded and agreed without the slightest hesitation.
The Little Witch was stunned. That... easy? According to the usual script, shouldn’t I, the Lord Demon King, beat him up first? Then he’d call for reinforcements, and I’d have to beat up his boss before I could finally get the account books, right? I’ve barely hit anyone!
Wang Xiu paid no mind to her bewildered state and ordered his underling, "Go. Bring out all the account books."
The underling was taken aback. "Boss, are we..."
"Hm?"
"Yes... Yes, sir!"
Several underlings helped each other up and hurried away. Soon, they returned carrying a huge pile of account books, which they dropped on the floor in a mountain-like heap.
The casino’s influence might not have been as grand as the righteous idols of the Star Pavilion, but when it came to its destructive power, it was just as bad, if not more so. With these account books, the Ghost King Sect could easily control the fates of countless gamblers, driving them to desperation. Then, through manipulation, they could unleash all the negative emotions in their hearts until they finally submitted to the great Demon God, joined the glorious evolution, and became members of The Demonic Path.
This mountain of ledgers represented countless families on the brink of ruin.
...
"They’re all here," Wang Xiu said, lifting his head to look at the Little Witch. "Lady Demon King, would you care to inspect them?"
The Little Witch’s eyes widened as she stared at the pile. "There are so many! How long would it take this Lord Demon King to go through all of them?"
Her entire demeanor screamed refusal. She let out a dry cough and put on a haughty facade. "There’s no need. As if you’d dare deceive this Lord Demon King!"
With a flick of her finger, a single violet Demon Flame shot out and landed on the ledgers. The fire instantly roared to life, burning all the account books to nothing but a pile of ash on the floor.
After finishing her work, the Little Witch clapped her hands in satisfaction. With her hands on her hips, her eyes curved into happy crescent moons. She turned to the little girl and took her hand. "Little Bean, did you see that? I destroyed all the ledgers. No one will ever come to your home to collect debts again!"
Tears still staining her cheeks, the little girl nodded gratefully. "Mhm, thank you, sister!"
The Little Witch corrected her, "How many times have I told you? Don’t call me sister. I’m to become the woman of the Great Demon God. You must call me Lord Demon King!"
The little girl nodded. "Okay, sister!"
The Little Witch wrinkled her nose. "You’re so slow! If you’re this dumb, how will you ever become a demon chief in the future?"
The little girl sniffled. "Sister, why do I have to become a demon chief?"
With her hands still on her hips, the Little Witch proclaimed, "One must know gratitude. I helped you, so you must obey me in the future. I am a Great Demon God’s woman, so you, of course, must be a demon chief! What, you don’t want to repay my kindness?"
The little girl shook her head and said earnestly, "That’s not it, sister! I promise, I’ll be a good demon chief!"
The Little Witch pressed a hand to her forehead. "Silly girl, there’s no such thing as a *good* demon chief! We’re all big villains!"
The little girl pouted. "That’s not true. You’re a good person, sister. The best person in the whole world~"
At these words, the Little Witch suddenly fell silent, her happy mood vanishing. Then, as if a thought occurred to her, she sighed helplessly. She crouched down, took out a brocade pouch filled with Golden Beans, and placed it in the little girl’s hands. "Take this money and go live a good life with your mother. When you grow up, I’ll come back for you."
With that, she patted the little girl’s head, turned, and walked away.
...
Wang Xiu watched this scene in silence, an amused smile touching his lips. This Little Witch is still so naive. Even if she wanted to help the girl, how could she just hand over money so directly? In front of so many people, no less! And so much of it, too.
Wang Xiu’s gaze swept across the room. Just as he expected, the eyes of the few conscious Ghost King Sect Disciples were locked onto the little girl and the pouch in her hand. Their breathing grew heavy, their eyes glinting with raw greed. If not for their fear that the Little Witch hadn’t gone far, they would have already swarmed her.
...
"Boss!" The underling who had contacted him earlier approached, his face etched with worry. "All the casino’s account books have been burned. If the Seventh Elder blames us for this, it’ll be difficult to explain!"
Wang Xiu glanced at him. "Difficult to explain? Then there’s no need to explain."
The underling said, "Ah?"
...
The casino was on fire.
The flames were fierce, and in a flash, the entire building was consumed. Fortunately, there was no wind, so the fire didn’t spread to the adjacent buildings.
But none of the thugs inside the casino managed to escape.
The townspeople who witnessed this couldn’t help but clap and cheer.
"Serves them right!"
"The heavens have eyes!"
...
