The Comeback of the Charming Farmer's Wife

Chapter 1682 - 1684: Have You Reflected on Yourself?

"Oh my gosh, really?" Yang Chuxia widened her eyes, feeling immense sympathy for Prince Le, as if all the royal family’s messes had been unfairly landed on him.

Marrying a princess consort who can’t have children meant he’d never have a rightful heir in his lifetime.

What was the Emperor thinking? No matter how much he disliked this son, he couldn’t treat him so harshly, right?

"It’s true indeed. Back in the day, Princess Consort Le was framed by her family, and later, when the princes were getting married, the other princess consorts were chosen by their mothers. The Emperor simply handed over his son’s marriage to the consorts of the harem. Those in the harem? Tsk, could they pick well? When others in the court saw Prince Le being neglected, even if they knew about these matters, they wouldn’t report them to the Emperor. By the time the Emperor found out, the person was already wedded."

"But doesn’t my cousin also without a mother still marry well?"

"Let me tell you secretly, he picked that one himself." Ye Zi’an thought internally, don’t think my cousin is as calm and carefree inside as he appears; he’s quite brooding on the inside.

"Going off topic, let me tell you, although the child wasn’t born by Princess Consort Le, he’s recognized under her name and has been raised by her side since childhood, just like her own son."

Yang Chuxia nodded understandingly, "No wonder Princess Consort Le looked so upset when she got the news."

"Let’s not talk about them anymore." Ye Zi’an said as he hugged her, "Tonight, let’s have dinner together."

"Mommy, Mommy, I heard Pretty Dad is back?" Just as Ye Zi’an and Yang Chuxia were about to leave, Yangyang ran in like a whirlwind.

"Can’t you walk properly?" Ye Zi’an saw his state and scolded, "If you fall and chip a tooth, I’ll just laugh at you."

"Pretty Dad, can’t you speak nicely?" Yangyang retorted defiantly, "If you didn’t come home so late every day, causing me not to see you for two days, would I run so fast? You should reflect on yourself!"

"Hey..." Ye Zi’an found himself speechless; his words seemed to imply it was indeed his fault. "Honey, he truly inherited your eloquence."

"Sure did!" Yangyang proudly hugged Ye Zi’an, "Pretty Dad, what were you up to? You come home so late every day."

Before Ye Zi’an could respond, Yangyang sniffed around, "I think I smell something delicious; it seems like peaches?" He glanced around the room, spotting the package on the high table, "Peach cake?"

"What a keen nose." Yang Chuxia tapped his nose playfully.

"Hehe," Yangyang giggled, moved forward for a closer look at the package, then pouted, "Pretty Dad, that’s not fair! I thought two packages meant two different cakes, but it’s all peach cake, all for Mom. I love plum cake. You didn’t buy me any!"

"There wasn’t any plum cake today," Ye Zi’an said with a smile.

"I don’t believe it," Yangyang huffed, "I can smell plum cake, sour and sweet, and you didn’t buy it for me. I’m very upset!"

"Little rascal, what are you fussing about? Tomorrow, dad will remember to buy it for you." Ye Zi’an said while ruffling his hair, messing up his neatly combed style.

Yang Chuxia saw the bun on Yangyang’s head was knocked to one side and laughed unreservedly.

"Ah..." Yangyang felt his hair with one hand, realized something was off, and ran out screaming, "My image!"
