Chapter 1652 - 1654: Compensation Required
Just as he reached the outer room, Yangyang in the inner room called out again.
"You can’t touch that painting either. It’s an ancient relic from the previous dynasty, a reward from the Emperor when my brother and I were named. If it gets damaged, you’re doomed."
Listening to Little Yangyang calling out like that from the inner room, the adults sitting outside accompanying Prince Le for tea all chuckled quietly.
This kid is clever and a real troublemaker.
And the people inside were left speechless, just twitching at the corners of their mouths; his hand hadn’t even touched the painting, come on.
So they had no choice but to look at other things. The prince had ordered them to even knock on the floors here.
"Hey, hey, what are you doing?" The guard who went to look at the paintings had just crouched down when Yangyang’s magical voice rang again. He thought Yangyang was calling him and hurriedly looked up.
But as soon as he looked up, he saw a horrifying scene.
On the high shelf above, a glass vase with a pink lotus was tilting and about to fall. It scared him so much that he quickly reached out to catch it.
But before he could get there, the vase hit the ground, shattering the pieces of glass all over the place.
And the exquisite little boy widened his eyes to take in the scene before him, then jumped up and shouted, "Wow, you broke my family’s glass vase, you have to pay up!"
"This vase is my mother’s favorite, a gift from Aunt Dongyang, super expensive, at least a thousand taels of silver!"
The adults sitting outside couldn’t sit still anymore.
One by one, they helplessly came into the inner room, only to see the scattered pieces all over the floor.
Upon seeing this, Prince Le said nothing but scanned the room quickly before looking at Yangyang, only to see the child’s eyes brightly looking at him with a hint of pride in them.
"My lord, no, it wasn’t me who broke it, really, it wasn’t me. I don’t even know, it wasn’t me." The guard felt utterly despaired now. He couldn’t afford a thousand taels of silver.
"Nonsense! If it wasn’t you who broke it, then could it have been me, the young master, who broke it? It’s something from my home; I’d have to be insane to break it, right?" Yangyang was thinking to himself, ’No way am I out of my mind.’
"Besides, if you don’t have the silver, the prince does. You all came with the prince anyway, let him compensate for you." Yangyang said and then turned to look at Prince Le, "An eye for an eye, business is business. If you break something, you have to pay for it."
Prince Le twitched his lips. He had a vague feeling that this vase was broken by the child himself.
Then he looked at the glass shards on the ground; their quality was average, not even that clean, yet it was going for a thousand taels.
Could he refuse? Prince Le glanced at the silent adults in the room, who evidently supported paying the silver; otherwise, today’s matter wouldn’t end.
He couldn’t help but snort coldly, "Fine, I’ll pay you, a thousand taels, right?" Saying so, he pulled out a banknote worth a thousand taels.
Yangyang hurriedly stepped up to take it, also nagging to Lele standing to the side, "Brother, you need to learn from Prince Le. Both are princes, but look how generous he is, compensating for his staff without batting an eye at a thousand taels. And then look at you, so stingy, I’m your real brother, but borrowing a single tael of silver takes forever."
All the adults couldn’t help but twitch their lips upon hearing this, and saw him waving the banknote around, as proud as can be.
Meanwhile, Prince Le’s face was slowly turning dark, and he sternly asked the guards, "Any findings?"
All the Imperial Army members shook their heads.
"Hmph, pack it up!" Prince Le, who hadn’t found anything, snorted coldly and left.
The only sound Yangyang made from behind was waving the banknote and shouting, "Prince, come again next time!"
