Chapter 1650 - 1652: Here Again
"I heard your family is being watched?" Mu Shaoling arrived in the afternoon, bringing a medical kit with him.
"You’re quite pleased with yourself?" Ye Zi’an glanced at him.
"Of course!" Mu Shaoling smiled faintly, "He hasn’t hidden his suspicion of you at all. Your Prince An’s Mansion is the only one in the Capital City that’s been searched twice. He’s smart, the more frequently you’re investigated, the more it screams that something’s amiss. Now, everyone’s eyes are on your Prince An’s Mansion, and from now on, no matter what you do, someone will be watching you."
"Alright, I didn’t call you here for a laugh." Old Mu gave him a sideways glance; the kid’s a father now, yet still so childish.
Saying this, Old Mu recounted the incident to him, and Mu Shaoling’s mouth opened wide enough to swallow an egg. Looking at Old Mu, he was at a loss for words.
Prince Ning was indeed brought out by them!
"You two are something else!" Mu Shaoling gave them a thumbs up.
"Cut the crap, since you’re here, go check on him, this matter should be handled sooner rather than later."
"Alright then."
With that, Ye Zi’an led Mu Shaoling to the Bamboo Courtyard, where Yang Chuxia was relaxing in the shade of a tree, Yangyang practicing swordplay on one side, Lele reading a book, and two little ones snacking around her.
"And you’re still enjoying yourself at a time like this?"
"Why not?" Yang Chuxia snorted, "Didn’t he find nothing?"
Hearing this, Mu Shaoling didn’t say more and followed Ye Zi’an into the house.
Once inside, Ye Zi’an led him straight into the basement. Seeing the structure of the room, Mu Shaoling’s eyes flickered, "This basement wasn’t your idea."
"Isn’t that obvious?"
Yang Chuxia wondered if this Prince Le was having a fit because barely half an hour after Mu Shaoling and Ye Zi’an went down, someone reported that Prince Le had come with people again.
This was the third time since last night!
"Mother, I’ll go take a look." Lele said as he stood up.
"Alright, take Ye Er with you." Yang Chuxia didn’t stop him; he held the highest status in the mansion, giving him an edge in dealing with visitors.
But before he reached the door, it was kicked open from the outside.
Seeing the leading man in black and the squad of the Imperial Army behind him, Yang Chuxia’s face darkened further.
"Prince Le, what do you mean by this? We were just searched this morning, and now you’re back again after just a few hours?"
"By imperial decree, searching for fugitives!" Prince Le sneered, then continued, "Madam Ye not being inside is convenient, saves any talk of people offending you. Go, search thoroughly!"
"Yes!"
The synchronized response seemed to sweep away the morning’s disgrace of being kicked out.
"Hold on!" Yang Chuxia shouted, "May I ask, Prince Le, whether the decree targets only our Prince An’s Mansion or the entire city? If it’s aimed solely at us, Prince An will immediately go to the palace to question the Emperor’s intent—is everyone thinking you’re an unfit prince? If so, you might as well kneel and ask the Emperor to strip you of your title, to prevent people from overlooking you all day long."
"Yes, Mother, that’s what I think too."
Prince Le glanced at Yang Chuxia, who stood blocking the main house, and pulled out an order from his robe, "See clearly, it’s a new order from the Emperor, enforcing a citywide lockdown and search, not even the beggars’ nests are exempt."
Given that, Yang Chuxia really couldn’t stop them.
