Chapter 1637 - 1639: Maybe I’ll Piss a Few Off While I’m At It
Once an idea comes up, it needs to be arranged quickly. Old Mu immediately stood up and said, "This matter ought to be done sooner rather than later. I’ll go handle it right now." Then he said to Luo Linhao, "You and Linyu stay here for the next few days, and when I’m done with this, I’ll take you back."
"Come on, Dad, do I need you to take me back to my own house?" Luo Linhao exclaimed in surprise and said, "Dad, just let Linyu stay here. I’m going back; it’s been years since I last went. I should go say hello and maybe see if I can piss someone off to death."
"Hey, you brat, take it easy," Old Mu opened his eyes wide and said, "Pissing off one or two people isn’t the problem; the problem is if they die, I have to be in mourning, and so do you. Understand?"
"I know, I know, I’ll be mindful." Luo Linhao waved his hand, saying this casually, though his eyes were flashing with mischief. One could imagine that the Luo Family would be quite lively soon.
When Luo Linhao returned to the Capital City to join the military camp back then, he only showed his face once in the city and went to the camp without even visiting the Luo Family. Over the years, the Luo Family had little information about him, so one could imagine how shocked they’d be to see him alive and well.
"By the way, there’s something that feels a bit odd." Old Mu was about to open the door and leave when Luo Linhao suddenly exclaimed.
"What is it?" Old Mu and Ye Zi’an both looked at him.
"How did Prince Le recognize me at a glance?" This question had been on his mind the whole way, "I didn’t meet him many times when I was a kid, and after growing up, I wasn’t in the Capital City at all. I look nothing like I did as a child."
"What’s so strange about that?" Old Mu twitched the corner of his mouth, "Everyone knows he’s not often in the Capital City; maybe he saw you somewhere else? Are you going or not? If you’re not, I’m leaving."
"Let’s go, let’s chat on the way, Dad." Luo Linhao stepped forward and put his arm around Old Mu’s shoulder, then waved to Ye Zi’an, "Cousin, I’m going back to live at the Luo Family, my wife and sister will stay at your place, no need to see us off, we know the way."
"You cheeky brat, you’re pretty smooth calling her your wife."
"Of course."
Though he said no need to see them off, Ye Zi’an didn’t really stay back. He silently followed the father and son, watching them talk affectionately, and couldn’t help but think of many years ago when he drank with his uncle, a burly man with tears in his eyes. One could easily imagine how deeply the Luo Family hurt him, making him unwilling for his children to return even now.
But Linhao hadn’t let years of separation dilute this father-son bond. That’s great; he could see that his uncle, though sparing in words of care, truly cherished his children in his heart.
After sending off Old Mu and Luo Linhao, Ye Zi’an returned to the hall where only Yang Chuxia was left.
"Where are the kids?"
"They’ve all gone back to their courtyards. They’re happy about moving to the new house," Yang Chuxia laughed, "Even Yueyue and Qingqing are very happy."
"Then let’s head back too."
"I’ve been waiting for you," Yang Chuxia said, wrapping her arm around his as she turned and said to Mingcui and the others holding lamps, "You all can disperse now. I’ll walk home with him. There’s the moon tonight, no need for lamps."
Outside, Ye Zi’an turned around and held her hand, "Let me hold your hand on the way."
"There’s a nice cool breeze tonight too."
"Yeah." After walking for a while, Ye Zi’an asked, "Tired?"
"A little," Yang Chuxia giggled, "Don’t you think this house is really big?"
"It is really big; we’ve been walking for so long and haven’t even finished."
