Chapter 1571 - 1573: It’s Time to Set Off_1
Otherwise, his overflowing energy was quite off-putting, as he constantly eyed his father’s position, even the Emperor hadn’t stripped his dad of his official title, so what gave a mere Prefectural Magistrate the right to covet it?
"That will do!" Ye Er said with a light smile, "Let Xiao Jiu handle it, he can conceal himself and won’t easily attract attention."
"Alright, let him do it then."
Afterward, Ye Er left. That very night, news came that Lord Prefectural Magistrate had broken his leg. The following day, people saw many official documents temporarily moved to the Prefectural Magistrate’s Mansion.
Lele was quite satisfied with this; with his mobility compromised, he wouldn’t be showing off so readily. Fortunately, his mind was still sharp and his hands were still functional, allowing him to handle official duties.
"Madam, we can leave in two hours." Yet another new day, and Ye Zi’an was preparing to go to the main street with Yang Chuxia.
"Wait for me a moment." Yang Chuxia wasn’t in a hurry to leave, waiting for Mingcui to bring her two items before saying to Ye Zi’an, "Sit down first; I’d like to tie these on you before we head out."
"Madam, what do you have in your hands?" Ye Zi’an was somewhat slow to catch on.
Without answering immediately, Yang Chuxia waited for him to sit down, then went about lifting his robe, untying his trouser leg, and tightly wrapping the two items around his knees. Only then did Ye Zi’an realize what they were.
Yang Chuxia clarified, "These are stuffed with cotton, they’re soft to kneel on and won’t make you uncomfortable."
Indeed, these were inventions of that little swallow, and rather useful at that.
"Did you tie them on yourself, Madam?"
"Of course, why would I discomfort myself? I put them on early in the morning."
After attending to Ye Zi’an, Yang Chuxia then helped him into the carriage.
Halfway through the journey, for some reason, the coachman was distracted and didn’t see a stone directly ahead. He drove right into it, causing both Yang Chuxia and Ye Zi’an to hit their heads against the carriage.
"Does it hurt?"
Ye Zi’an asked softly, while rubbing the back of her head with one hand.
"It’s fine." Yang Chuxia replied while simultaneously studying Ye Zi’an’s facial expressions. Noticing that aside from raising his eyebrows, there was little change in his eyes or complexion, her heart sank a little; it seemed that his consciousness was indeed gradually fading away.
Soon, the carriage arrived on East Main Street, and Ye Zi’an got out first, then helped Yang Chuxia down.
Yang Chuxia found that at this time, East Main Street was already crowded with people.
On seeing them arrive, the crowd paid their respects, "Lord Ye, Madam Ye."
"Thank you all for your efforts." Ye Zi’an, looking at the citizens before him, felt a complex mix of emotions. These people were affected by his actions; if not for that item he possessed, their friends and family would not have fallen ill.
"We’re not suffering; it’s Lord Ye who endures hardships while ill, yet still comes out for us all."
"Yes, we’re not suffering; Lord Ye is the one who’s enduring the hardships."
Ye Zi’an responded with a smile, waving his hand at everyone.
Then, along with Yang Chuxia, he moved to the center of the street.
They knelt for another two hours, and when the sun moved past its zenith, Yang Chuxia and Ye Zi’an stood up.
Yang Chuxia shouted towards the surrounding shops, taverns, and tea houses, after surveying them all, "We have done as you requested; when will you fulfill your promise?"
A quarter of an hour passed, then half an hour; quickly, one hour went by without any sign of activity.
Having pondered for a moment, Yang Chuxia said to Ye San, "You take the young master back first; I’m going to the outskirts of the city."
"Madam, let me accompany you."
