Chapter 1095 - 1097: Mom Goes Down_1
The two little buns were on a long trip for the first time and were also riding in a horse-drawn carriage for the first time, finding the swaying motion very novel.
Seeing that the carriage was even spread with blankets, Lele sat directly on the blanket and insisted on taking off his shoes, saying he was afraid of dirtying the blanket, making both Lady Li’s wonder if they should also take off their shoes.
It was Yang Chuxia who had them take several pairs of clean shoes out of the bundle to put on.
"Mommy, mommy..." Yangyang couldn’t sit still in the carriage; he paced back and forth, and the swaying of the carriage surprisingly made him more stable on his feet.
After growing tired of walking, he ran to one side, sat down obediently, but insisted on lifting the carriage curtain to look at the scenery outside.
"Your Highness, piggy..." Yang Chuxia was thinking this is the imperial road, far from the villagers’ dwellings—where could there be a pig?
She couldn’t help but look in the direction he was pointing, "Silly little thing, that’s a cow, what pig is that big?"
"A cow?" Yangyang sounded like he was both marveling and questioning.
"Yes, it’s a cow, they’re plowing the field with it."
Whether he understood or not, Little Yangyang nodded anyway.
After the initial novelty wore off, Lele started flipping through a small book in his hands. The book, filled with illustrations, was somewhat like a modern comic book but not quite the same, something she had found in a bookstore in the town.
"Lele, don’t keep reading in the carriage, okay?" Hearing his mother call him, Lele looked up. After glancing at her, he lowered his head again.
Yang Chuxia thought that probably telling him it was bad for his eyes to read in a moving space wouldn’t make sense to him, so she decided to simply set a daily reading time for him.
This matter indeed made her a bit frustrated—she couldn’t understand how a child not even a week old could be so obsessed with books; he didn’t even recognize any characters yet. It was maddening. What would become of him once he learned to read?
"Mom, mom, let’s get down, let’s get down!" Little Yangyang, after looking outside for a while, couldn’t sit still anymore.
He wanted to get down and walk around.
"We can’t get down now; we’re still on our way. Wait until we reach a resting spot, then you can go down, okay?"
"No, no!"
This little troublemaker spoke like a parrot, always repeating himself.
"No is no; we’re going to find daddy. If you get down, we won’t be able to find daddy."
"Ah?" Upon hearing Yang Chuxia say this, Yangyang let out a big question mark—so that was it?
The way he spoke with a long, drawn-out, childlike lilt made Yang Chuxia want to laugh and cry at the same time.
But after he fussed for a while and became tired, even yawning, Yang Chuxia spread out the bedding for him to take a nap.
"Lele, do you want to sleep?" But Lele shook his head.
Seeing him still bowing his head, Yang Chuxia beckoned him, "Come here to mommy, and I’ll read to you."
Lele climbed up, took the book, and snuggled into Yang Chuxia’s arms, listening to his mother read to him.
The little guy was so spirited, he got entirely caught up in the story and didn’t want to sleep even as noon approached.
They arrived at a small town, had lunch, and by this time, Yangyang had woken up and insisted on taking a walk. So, Yang Chuxia took him nearby for a short stroll.
After everyone had eaten and rested for a moment, they continued on their journey. By evening, they would either stay at an inn or lodge at a farm.
