Chapter 1033 - 1035: Plans Can’t Keep Up with Changes_1
"What exactly is going on?"
Brother An’s letter said that they had already sent the people back.
"Originally, our people were supposed to return after the New Year, but the Cao siblings arrived in Mianyang before the festivities. The Young Master was very unhappy and had us take the Cao siblings back to Wangquan Town the next day. However, the Cao siblings refused to return, so the Young Master ordered them to be tied up and put on the carriage. For the first half of the journey, the siblings were quiet, but after passing Jiangsu, they started causing trouble." At this point, the young servant was sweating from his forehead; they had clearly messed up their assignment.
But under Yang Chuxia’s gaze, he still continued, his voice forced, "Half a month ago, Cao Lingling complained of stomach pain and said she had her ’monthly affair,’ needing to buy necessities. When we stopped in a small town, we let them out, but after a while, Cao Lingling was nowhere to be seen. When we checked the shop, there was no sign of her. With the sister missing, the Cao brother started clamoring to search for her."
"You lost someone, and you didn’t follow them to search?"
Yang Chuxia thought to herself that this Cao Lingling had quite a few tricks up her sleeve.
"We searched; we looked all over the town for a whole day and night but found nothing. And considering the place was closer to our Funan, we decided to return first."
As the chubby servant finished speaking, the thinner one chimed in, "Madam, I fear we must send another letter to the Young Master. It is likely that the Cao siblings will run back to Mianyang."
One couldn’t deny that what the servant said was exactly what she was thinking. The Cao siblings had gone to great lengths to reach Mianyang; how could they possibly return without achieving their goal?
"I am aware of the situation now. I will send a separate letter to the Young Master. You may go rest."
After the servants left, Yang Chuxia’s expression immediately darkened.
It seemed that the Cao family was asking for a lesson.
After steadying her mind, Yang Chuxia wrote another letter to be mailed to Mianyang.
Meanwhile, she dispatched someone to keep watch on the Cao Family to see if the siblings returned.
Clearly, Yang Chuxia’s prediction was correct; the watcher saw no sign of the Cao siblings returning, and before they knew it, it was already February.
Sometime in late February, a new letter from Ye Zi’an arrived in Wangquan Town, stating that the Cao siblings had returned to Mianyang. Yang Chuxia realized from the date that it must have crossed paths with the letter she had sent. From Ye Zi’an’s words, she could tell that the Cao siblings were likely causing trouble in Mianyang.
Otherwise, Ye Zi’an wouldn’t have mentioned so many times in just a few pages for her to hasten her preparations and to depart once Ye Yi and the others arrived.
Ever since receiving his letter, Yang Chuxia had started packing and selecting people to bring along.
However, sometimes plans can’t keep up with changes.
In mid-March, Ye Yi and Ye Er returned to Wangquan Town.
Yang Chuxia was just about to depart when suddenly the perpetually ill Old Yang passed away.
He hadn’t lasted very long; like an oil lamp running out of fuel, he closed his eyes forever.
On the fourteenth of March, after spending some time with her children, Yang Chuxia asked for Qingyou, Tieshu, Fugui, and Big Brother Li to be called over.
With her impending departure from Wangquan Town, she would need to arrange for someone to handle household matters to avoid chaos.
"Mingcui, pour some water, please. The rest of you, take a seat."
Once Mingcui had brought the water over, Yang Chuxia said, "I’ve called you here because there is something I need to discuss with you. As you know, I’ll be leaving for Mianyang soon, and I won’t be able to manage household affairs from there."
