Chapter 896 - 897: Choose a Nickname_1
"I think he looks pretty funny when he cries, it’s better than having a stoic face." Yang Chuxia protested her innocence, the whimpers from earlier were kind of amusing. Is she really their mother? Is this what a mother would say?
Upon hearing this, Ms. Wang rolled her eyes and tenderly moved the two little buns further away, meaning to keep them a bit distant from their unreliable mother.
"What are the children’s names? Did you send the letter to Brother An for him to name them yet?"
Yang Chuxia just shook her head, "Last time, in his letter he said to wait until they were born to name them, and to think of two nicknames for now."
"The two of you really are too carefree, other people start thinking of names even before the child is born." Ms. Wang was dissatisfied and grumbled, "My poor little grandsons, with such an unreliable mother and a hardly dependable father, neither of you even has a name."
Upon hearing this, Yang Chuxia again started to consider nicknames for the two children.
"Bao Bao, Bei Bei?" Yang Chuxia thought of one and asked.
Ms. Wang shook her head, "Those names are better suited for girls."
"Duo Duo, Jiao Jiao?"
Ms. Wang’s expression darkened upon hearing those suggestions; her daughter’s naming sense was really not up to scratch.
In fact, Yang Chuxia also felt they were a bit feminine, but it was just a casual suggestion.
"How about naming them Lele and Yangyang? Eldest will be Lele, Second will be Yangyang. Since they’re just nicknames, we’ll wait for that rascal Ye Zi’an to come back to choose their formal names."
After hearing this, Ms. Wang felt these last ones were more appropriate for boys than the earlier ones, "Let’s call them Lele and Yangyang then." She thought to herself that if they kept thinking, with her daughter’s naming ability, they wouldn’t come up with anything better.
"Little Lele, Little Yangyang, so good!"
Ms. Wang glanced at the two little buns again, then went down to the lower floor. After a while, she returned and ended up sleeping in Yang Chuxia’s room, and the older Sister-in-law Li was called over to sleep in the outer room, ready to come in and take care of her in the night if needed.
Yang Chuxia wasn’t sure how often other people’s babies needed to eat, but it seemed her two could really eat, needing to be fed about every two hours.
Yang Chuxia thought maybe sugar water just wasn’t as filling as milk.
So when she got up the next day, she promptly had Li-made mother go make more trotter soup, but even after a large bowl she still didn’t feel any fullness. She had started drinking this soup the previous evening and continued into the afternoon.
As a result, Old Lady Meng gave her another prescription, and this time it worked well; after drinking it twice, she began to feel a bit of fullness.
She then had the babies brought to her to try, and sure enough, the little buns successfully got their proper meal.
"Mother, have father find out where we can get a milk cow," Yang Chuxia said to Ms. Wang after feeding the children. "Or where we can get a cow that’s about to have a calf, I’ll buy one to bring home."
Ms. Wang didn’t catch on at first, "What do you need that for?"
Right now, the two little ones hadn’t yet fallen asleep after eating, staring straight up at the canopy, occasionally blinking. It was uncertain if they could actually see, but they still clenched their little fists.
"They are brothers, aren’t they? I worry that there might not be enough breast milk for them later on, so I want to get one in advance just in case."
"You might as well hire a wet nurse instead."
"No, please don’t."
Truth be told, she didn’t like the idea of a wet nurse at all. It wasn’t only about the children getting attached to the wet nurse, but the real issue was some wet nurses have no professional ethics at all, eating whatever they shouldn’t and being utterly unhygienic, not even cleaning themselves before feeding the children. Just the thought of it made her feel supremely disgusted.
