Chapter 685 - 686: Well-Tailored Lining
When she got home, with nothing else to do, she had no choice but to work on the clothes again.
Alright, she did admit that she was not very good at making these clothes, because she had already ruined two pieces of fabric, which upset her greatly. Nevertheless, Ms. Wang still insisted that she do it, and the ruined pieces she had cut up were made into kerchiefs or shoe liners by Ms. Wang.
"Tsk tsk!" Ye Zi’an came in from outside and, seeing her frowning at a pile of cloth, couldn’t help shaking his head, "Take this!" he said.
Seeing it was him, Yang Chuxia asked, "Why are you here? Didn’t mom say we’re not supposed to see each other before we get married?"
"Couldn’t I have sneaked in?" Ye Zi’an sat to the side, "Didn’t Auntie Caixia go to her house? Besides, there can’t be that many rules, I don’t believe it."
"Go ASAP, be careful or mom will scold you later." Yang Chuxia turned again to look at the bundle he brought, "What’s in here?"
"Why don’t you open it and see?"
As Yang Chuxia opened it, her face immediately turned green.
Because what was inside was not just anything, but two sets of pre-cut undergarments. Yes, you read correctly, pre-cut, just not sewn yet.
Ye Zi’an didn’t notice her pale face, but saaid quite pleased with himself, "How about it? I knew you’re not good at these things, so now you don’t have to be troubled. I found someone from a ready-to-wear shop to help and they’ve been cut already. You just stitch them up later and pretend you made them. You can then hand them over to mom."
Then he grinned, "What do you say? I am treating you well, right?"
"Yes, you really are!" Yang Chuxia retorted irritably. "But, are you sure you’re not here to mock me for being poor at needlework? You know that I can’t get a single outfit right?"
"No, please don’t misunderstand," seeing her upset, Ye Zi’an quickly raised his hands in disarming gesture, "I genuinely feel bad for you always pricking your fingers."
"You’re still saying I can’t make clothes, only people who can’t sew prick their fingers!"
At this, Ye Zi’an slightly winced, "So, do you want me to throw these out, or make them yourself?"
"No way!" Yang Chuxia abandoned her own pretensions and quickly fetched the bundle, "You’ve already sent them, there is no turning back now. Wasting things does invite thunderbolts."
She put the bundle away and then gloated, "Hmm, since they’re from you, I’ll just reluctantly accept your goodwill. But you must not let anything slip in front of mom."
"Hehe, I understand." Zi’an agreed laughterly.
Yang Chuxia glanced at the clothes on the table, then dashed back to Zi’an and sternly said, "Also, it is common knowledge that I can’t sew. You cannot resent me for it later. Or else you’ll have it!"
"I got it!" Zi’an took her hands and said cheerily, "You can’t sew or make shoes, you can barely make purses, you don’t like to cook or do the laundry, but that’s okay. After all, I’m not marrying a maidservent. I am marrying my wife."
Yang Chuxia was touched by what Zi’an said but also felt slightly embarrassed. Hearing his words, she seemed useless.
Trying to regain her dignity, she stubbornly declared, "You got it right!" Then after a moment, trying to find some positive attributes, she added somewhat arrogantly, "Marrying me is not a losing deal for you. If anyone dares to bully you, I will protect you."
After hearing this, Zi’an felt like laughing and crying at the same time. A woman telling a man, "I will protect you", was this really okay? How incompetent did this make him look? And what’s more, she sounded just like her father. Like parent, like child.
