Chapter 674 - 670: We’re Screwed, I Think That’s Mom
The families with children began to have all sorts of ideas after seeing just how capable the children taught by Leng Yuan and Gu Jiaojiao were.
But regardless of what they were thinking, no one dared to provoke the couple.
Chen Shulan, however, was stunned.
A skip-a-grade exam?
With a perfect score?
’Freaks. They’re absolute freaks.’
’She refused to believe it.’
Just then, a voice piped up from behind her.
"What Sweet Girl said is true. Even though they’re only in third grade, whenever my Xiao Ni gets stuck on her fourth-grade problems, she has to ask Sweet Girl and Xiao Yang for help!"
"That Leng Yuan and Gu Zhiqing really have a knack for teaching children. I’m so envious."
Wow.
The crowd was left reeling from one surprise after another.
To think they had actually believed Chen Shulan, assuming Leng Yuan and Gu Jiaojiao were all talk and that Sweet Girl and Xiao Yang weren’t cut out for school.
A student taught by a good teacher is bound to be impressive.
They had been too shortsighted.
In an instant, a wave of realization washed over the crowd. Those who had defended Leng Yuan felt relieved. Those who had remained silent wondered if they’d misspoken. As for those who had bad-mouthed him, their faces went pale.
They glared daggers at Chen Shulan.
This was the bitch who had made them offend Leng Yuan, and their children’s futures were on the line.
ARGH!
They were ready to tear this old bitch apart.
The ones Chen Shulan had dragged down with her couldn’t take it anymore. One of them landed a hard slap across Chen Shulan’s face, and in the next moment, several women were tangled in a brawl.
Chen Xiaoli rolled her eyes at them, then stepped forward to lead Sweet Girl and Xiao Yang away.
She had been waiting at home. Gu Jiaojiao had told her the kids would be coming over, but when they didn’t show up after a long while, she grew worried and came out to look for them.
She hadn’t expected to find Chen Shulan here stirring up trouble.
She had been about to step in and help, but she hadn’t expected the clever little Sweet Girl to handle it all by herself.
She patted both of the children on the head.
"Nicely done."
With that, she led the children away.
One of the men watching the brawl from the sidelines saw Chen Xiaoli about to leave and couldn’t help but call out.
"Chen Xiaoli, you’re just leaving? You’re not going to do anything about this?"
Chen Xiaoli rolled her eyes. "Go get the village chief."
’If they have a problem, they can go find my father-in-law,’ she thought. ’I’m not the village chief.’
The crowd was speechless.
They’d never seen such an audacious daughter-in-law!
Chen Xiaoli might have been able to ignore it, but the onlookers couldn’t. They watched as the women pulled hair, scratched faces, and tore at clothes. Before long, both of their faces were bleeding.
Fearing things would get out of hand, some people finally stepped in to pull the brawlers apart.
The village chief arrived shortly after.
Someone had already run off to get the village chief even before Chen Xiaoli had left.
In the village, the production brigade leader was in charge of assigning work and allocating resources, like the quotas for raising pigs. But when it came to petty disputes—a few things going missing, a family squabble, or a cheating husband—that was all the village chief’s domain.
The village chief had already gotten the full story on his way over. Knowing Chen Shulan had brought this upon herself, he gave everyone involved a stern lecture but offered no support for her side of the story. In the end, mocked and beaten, Chen Shulan could only trudge home miserably.
Back at home, Lin Daya and Lin Tie Dan were playing in the courtyard. They were startled when they saw Chen Shulan approach, looking like a madwoman with a button torn from her clothes, several bloody scratches on her face, and her hair in a tangled mess.
"Where’d this crazy lady come from? What’s she doing at our house? Get out of here!"
As he spoke, Lin Tie Dan grabbed a handful of mud that had been mixed with urine and hurled it at Chen Shulan.
The mud splattered across Chen Shulan’s face. She froze on the spot for a moment, then let out a piercing shriek and rushed into the house.
Lin Daya and Lin Tie Dan both froze.
"Oh no. I think that was Mom’s voice."
