Chapter 260 - 256: Not Taking the Blame
"Go on, go to sleep!"
Leng Yuan exhaled, suppressing the urge stirring deep inside him. He raised a hand to stroke her hair, keeping his voice as steady as possible.
Leng Yuan’s heart went out to his wife. She’d been busy all day with things related to Sweet Girl and Xiao Yang, and he worried she was exhausted. He had no intention of touching her tonight.
Having had her fun, Gu Jiaojiao felt satisfied. When Leng Yuan spoke, she decided not to keep him from his book and prepared to get up.
But as she started to get up, her eyes landed on him.
Leng Yuan was well-proportioned, with a particularly long, slender neck. In his light gray sweater and with his stylishly messy hair, he looked utterly captivating.
Gu Jiaojiao honestly felt that she was satisfied with every single aspect of his looks; she couldn’t find a single flaw.
Gu Jiaojiao’s bright eyes darted, a mischievous glint appearing within them.
Whenever she wore that expression, she was definitely up to no good.
Leng Yuan could never guess what his young wife was thinking. He reached out and gave her head a resigned pat.
Then, Gu Jiaojiao made her move.
But she lost her footing and stumbled toward him.
Leng Yuan instinctively reached out to catch Gu Jiaojiao.
As she fell, Gu Jiaojiao accidentally yanked a chair along with her. Caught off guard, Leng Yuan and she both went tumbling to the floor.
The man held onto Gu Jiaojiao, breaking her fall with his body.
Startled, Gu Jiaojiao wanted to check if Leng Yuan was hurt, but her hand landed somewhere it shouldn’t have... and she squeezed.
The man’s breath hitched, and a guttural sound escaped through his clenched teeth.
"Gu Jiaojiao."
Gu Jiaojiao fell silent.
Leng Yuan had never called her by her full name in such a heavy, dark tone.
Realizing what she’d just done, she flinched.
’I can explain,’ she thought. ’I really didn’t do it on purpose!’
Gu Jiaojiao looked up and met a pair of turbulent eyes, like vortexes that could suck in a person’s very soul.
Gu Jiaojiao’s heart skipped a beat, and she let out a nervous laugh.
"I... I’ll go to sleep right now."
She scrambled to get up, but the more she panicked, the more she fumbled!
The man actually laughed, a sound of pure exasperation.
He yanked Gu Jiaojiao back down, his voice laced with an indescribable danger.
"Jiaojiao, thinking of going to sleep now? It’s too late."
Gu Jiaojiao shook her head.
"No, it’s not too late."
’He can give me a little more time,’ she thought. ’I can definitely fall asleep this time!’
But the man’s posture was firm, leaving no room for refusal.
Gu Jiaojiao fell silent.
’This man has gone crazy!’
’I regret this so much,’ she lamented. ’I’ll never let my eyes wander again!’
By the end, Gu Jiaojiao couldn’t remember a thing. She didn’t know if she had fallen asleep from exhaustion or passed out from his relentless pace, and she certainly had no idea when he had finished.
All she knew was that she slept until broad daylight before groggily opening her eyes.
She tried to move, but her entire body was sore, as if it had been taken apart and reassembled.
She stared at the ceiling beams for a long time. Only when her mind finally cleared did she sit up and get dressed.
Gu Jiaojiao felt completely drained. It was as if she had slept last night, but also as if she hadn’t slept at all.
After washing up, she stepped outside. A blast of cold wind hit her, and she was instantly wide awake.
She didn’t know when the snow had stopped last night.
But it was definitely knee-deep.
And yet, the yard was now spotless, having clearly been swept clean.
Gu Jiaojiao was stunned.
’It seems I’m the laziest one in the whole family.’
Even Sweet Girl and Xiao Yang were out with brooms, helping to sweep the snow from the doorway.
’No, I’m not lazy,’ she thought. ’I was just worn out by Leng Yuan!’
’There’s no way I’m taking the blame for this.’
Gu Jiaojiao tried to psych herself up, but she still couldn’t stop a blush from creeping onto her cheeks.
After all, in the entire Qingshan Team, there probably wasn’t a single person who woke up later than she did.
