Chapter 258 - 256: Taking Responsibility
"Go on, get some sleep!"
Leng Yuan let out a breath, suppressing the desire stirring within him. He raised a hand and gently ruffled her hair, keeping his voice as steady as he could.
His heart went out to his wife. She’d been busy all day with Sweet Girl and Xiao Yang, and he was afraid she was exhausted. He hadn’t planned on touching her tonight.
Gu Jiaojiao, having had her fun and feeling satisfied, heard Leng Yuan speak. Not wanting to disturb his reading any further, she prepared to get up.
But as she was getting up, Gu Jiaojiao’s gaze landed on the man’s prominent Adam’s apple.
Leng Yuan had a well-proportioned figure and an exceptionally long, slender neck. Gu Jiaojiao found it incredibly sexy whenever his Adam’s apple bobbed.
This was the first time she’d ever thought a man’s Adam’s apple could be so sexy.
Gu Jiaojiao’s bright eyes darted, a mischievous glint appearing within them.
Whenever she got that look on her face, it meant she was definitely up to no good.
Leng Yuan gave her a resigned pat on the head, just about to speak.
Gu Jiaojiao made a decision.
’I’ll just steal a kiss and then go to sleep.’
Before the man could react, Gu Jiaojiao boldly pressed her lips to his throat.
The man’s body shuddered, and he let out a muffled groan.
Gu Jiaojiao jumped in surprise and accidentally bit down.
But the man immediately tightened his arms around her, his voice coming through gritted teeth.
"Gu Jiaojiao."
Gu Jiaojiao: ...
Leng Yuan had never called her by her full name with such a heavy, dark tone.
’Did I actually hurt him when I bit him?’
Gu Jiaojiao couldn’t help but look up, only to meet a pair of eyes that swirled like a gathering storm, a vortex that threatened to suck in her very soul.
Gu Jiaojiao’s heart skipped a beat, and she let out a hollow laugh.
"I... I’ll go to sleep right now."
She didn’t dare look at Leng Yuan’s neck to see if she had broken the skin. Her animal instincts were screaming at her. ’Better make a run for it now!’
At some point, the book had been set aside. His gaze was dark as he stared at the woman in his arms, and he let out a laugh that was equal parts anger and amusement.
He yanked Gu Jiaojiao back, his voice laced with an indescribable danger.
"Jiaojiao, good girls have to take responsibility for their actions. If you’re bold enough to start a fire, then you’re responsible for putting it out."
Gu Jiaojiao shook her head.
"No, I’m not a good girl."
’I don’t want to take responsibility.’
Gu Jiaojiao clutched her clothes.
The man’s fingers brushed over the buttons on her clothes, deftly unfastening them.
"So Jiaojiao is a bad girl, is she? Then I’ll have to teach Jiaojiao how to be a good girl."
Gu Jiaojiao: ...
’This man is crazy. Absolutely insane.’
’How can he be so insatiable!’
Again and again, endlessly.
Finally, she complained in exasperation.
"That’s enough, Leng Yuan! Don’t go too far."
’I feel like I’ve been completely drained.’
But the man patiently continued to wear her down.
"Jiaojiao, I’m teaching you how to be responsible."
Gu Jiaojiao: ...
’I’ve made up my mind. From now on, that spot is forbidden territory for me, Gu Jiaojiao. I’ll never stare at it greedily again.’
She didn’t know how long it had been. Her eyes were so heavy she could barely keep them open, yet the man was still full of vigor.
Gu Jiaojiao: ...
’Just let me die!’
In the end, Gu Jiaojiao couldn’t remember anything clearly. She didn’t know if she had simply passed out from exhaustion or fainted from how rough he’d been. She certainly had no idea when he had finally finished.
All she knew was that she slept until broad daylight before groggily opening her eyes.
She moved a little, and her whole body ached as if it had been taken apart and reassembled.
She stared at the ceiling beams for a good while before finally sitting up and getting dressed.
When she walked out, she saw the courtyard had already been swept spotless.
Gu Jiaojiao: ...
’It seems I’m the laziest one in the whole house.’
’No, I’m not lazy. I was just completely worn out by Leng Yuan.’
’This was all Leng Yuan’s fault.’
