Chapter 320 - 225: Confession Gift (Part 2)
This time, only Dongdong and Chu Nanyi from the Edge participated in the Wacai Base raid. The others didn’t even know about it.
KK was lounging on a beach chair, holding a coconut in his left hand and a cola in his right, with half a watermelon resting on his belly, living the high life like a deity.
Seeing Su Mo approach, he took off his sunglasses and asked, "Brother, where did you and Dongdong go these past two days? Haven’t seen you around."
Su Mo casually replied, "Nothing much, just had some temporary business to handle, but it’s all done now."
"Oh, I see." KK didn’t think much of it, just rubbed his arm nervously and said, "I saw a news report yesterday that scared the hell out of me."
Su Mo asked, "What news?"
KK said, "Someone exposed that Saint Rivelan is really shady, the Public Security Bureau chief is colluding with armed forces outside the city, every year many people go missing, supposedly taken for organ harvesting."
Su Mo feigned ignorance, "Really? I had no idea."
KK said, "Yes, I heard those armed forces are extremely ruthless, killing as casually as drinking water. I was scared into having nightmares last night... Hopefully our Edge group can vacation peacefully this time, and not run into those thugs."
Su Mo agreed, "Yeah, you’re right."
...
In the following days, Su Mo completely immersed himself in vacation mode.
Putting aside those dark elements unseen by ordinary people, Saint Rivelan truly is a dreamlike tourist city, filled with beautiful sights and vibrant culture.
During the day, Su Mo would get up to go swimming at the beach, and when exhausted, he would nap on the beach chair, watching the waves crash upon the golden sand, distant islands dotting the horizon.
After lunch, he’d drive a rental car to explore the city. Saint Rivelan’s architecture was diverse, with quaint seaside fishing villages and high-tech skyscrapers.
He leisurely strolled through the streets and alleys, gazed at the city’s vistas from high points, relished seafood in commercial streets, and visited museums to admire various artifacts. Sometimes he’d see items that appeared in games, causing him to smile knowingly.
In the evening, he enjoyed driving along the coastline, watching the sunset cast entrancing shades of orange-red on the sea, stopping at points to admire the sunset and await the night sky filled with stars.
If he had nothing to do in the evening, he’d visit bars for drinks. Sometimes he’d spot companions from his group, and they would greet each other, gather at a table, and enjoy the leisurely night.
These past few days, Su Mo nearly forgot he was a transmigrator, or that this was a world that existed only within a game, filling his heart with tranquility.
However, joyful times are always fleeting.
Time quickly approached the last day of vacation.
Before leaving, Su Mo specifically checked; today was Saint Rivelan’s fireworks festival, with a grand fireworks ceremony at the beach tonight.
Ending the journey with fireworks raining down from the sky couldn’t be more fitting.
...
In the evening, before the ceremony officially began, the beach was already packed with enthusiastic crowds, wearing breezy swimsuits or bathrobes, beaming brightly and strolling between various stalls.
Stalls were filled with all sorts of souvenirs and delicacies, children clung to their parents, clamoring for popcorn and cotton candy, while couples purchased meaningful jewelry to exchange, eyes brimming with gentle affection.
There were many street performers here, some playing joyful tunes on guitars, others performing astonishing magic tricks, drawing rounds of applause.
Dongdong and KK, already familiar with each other and being contemporaries from the same border region, never ran out of common topics to chat about, spending these past few days almost inseparably.
Dongdong squatted at a stall, playing a fish-catching game.
This game’s fishing nets were small and thin; catching too fast would tear the nets from water pressure, too slow and the fish’s struggle would also tear the nets, greatly testing one’s finesse.
Dongdong couldn’t manage delicate work, just went for it with rapid attempts, spending over a hundred lunar coins, tearing dozens of nets without catching a single fish.
Frustrated, she slapped her leg and complained, "This is too hard! Can anyone actually catch one?"
The stall owner, having made over a hundred for free, couldn’t stop laughing, "Young lady, you’re too hasty, have a bit more patience. Try again, gently."
KK saw the stall owner’s intent, handing Dongdong his octopus balls, "Hold these for me, I’ll give it a go."
Dongdong stepped aside, humming, "Good luck catching, if you don’t, I’ll punch you."
KK countered, "What if I do catch one?"
Dongdong replied, "I’ll punch you too."
KK exclaimed in disbelief, "Either way I get hit, then why catch anything?!"
Dongdong giggled, "I’ll just punch lightly if you catch one, go quickly, hurry!"
KK paid for a fishing net and squatted down.
The stall owner nonchalantly said, "Kid, you can buy more nets to practice, you won’t catch anything with just one; it greatly tests one’s skill."
KK flashed a mischievous smile, dipped the net into the pond, and caught a small fish with a "swish."
His hand was steady without a hint of tremor, catching with a pace not too fast nor too slow, perfectly balancing the net’s strength to catch fish into the bag.
After catching one, he continued for the second, third, fourth...
"Swish, swish, swish, swish..."
KK transformed into an emotionless fishing machine, catching with just one net continuously.
The stall owner sat there dumbfounded, his mouth opened wider and wider, nearby tourists gathered to applaud and cheer.
Finally, KK caught 17 fish in one go before the net gave in, with Dongdong’s bag now swimming with little fish.
Dongdong, overjoyed, jumped and cheered, "Wow, amazing! KK, you’re my hero!"
KK, proudly content, resumed eating his octopus balls, boasting, "What’s so impressive~ Craftsmanship, nothing too challenging for Master K!"
"Rewards coming! Here’s a punch!" Dongdong lightly tapped KK’s belly with her fist.
"Haha! Tickles!"
Sharing octopus balls, the two strolled through the stalls again.
While wandering, a tall figure appeared before Dongdong.
Chu Nanyi knelt on one knee, wearing a captivated expression, "Sister Dong, today’s Saint Rivelan’s fireworks festival, according to local tradition, whether openly or secretly loving, you have to personally make chocolate for the one you like."
Dongdong let out a resigned sigh, weakly saying, "Dude, I’m tired of kicking you, yet you haven’t given up?"
Chu Nanyi pretended not to hear, presenting Dongdong with a delicate gift box, looking deeply enamored like a prince on a white horse, "This is the chocolate I made for you, ah! My princess! Please accept my sincere affection!"
Dongdong raised an eyebrow, teasingly asked, "Is this chocolate just for me, or do all your harem beauties receive it?"
Chu Nanyi swore, "Of course, it’s just for you!"
KK whispered to Dongdong’s ear, "Pfft, caught him this afternoon giving chocolates to several girls, claiming each was a unique piece."
"Ha, knew it." After saying that, Dongdong kicked between Chu Nanyi’s legs.
Chu Nanyi fell and crowed like a rooster, making passing males instinctively clench their thighs.
Dongdong opened the box and shoved the chocolate into Chu Nanyi’s mouth, "Such good chocolate, too bad to waste, eat it yourself."
Chewing chocolate, Chu Nanyi was moved to tears, shouting to the crowd, "Everyone look, Sister Dong is feeding me chocolate! She cares for me!"
KK gleefully noted, "Young Master Chu’s gone bonkers again."
Dongdong was about to leave when suddenly she remembered something, squatted next to Chu Nanyi and poked his waist, "Hey, Xiaochu, was what you said earlier true? There’s really a tradition on holidays to personally make chocolate for your crush?"
Chu Nanyi was overjoyed, "Yep yep, Dongdong, are you going to make chocolate for me? Wowee, I’ll treasure it forever!"
"Dream on." Dongdong put another piece of chocolate in Chu Nanyi’s mouth.
She stood up and said to KK, "You go on and have fun yourself, I have some business."
With that, she bounced away, wearing a sweet smile of anticipation.
