Chapter 236 182: Mercenary Summit (Part 2)
The well-dressed socialites were engaged in lively conversation, and all around were representatives from large companies or consortia.
Dress saw Su Mo and approached him directly: "Hey, our Grand Captain Su has arrived."
"Good evening, Old D." Su Mo smiled and shook his hand.
Dress looked at Dongdong, eyeing her up and down, and deliberately said in an exaggerated tone, "Oh, the gorgeous Dong is here too. You've grown a lot taller since last time."
Dongdong was so pleased that she almost wagged her tail: "That's the kind of talk I love to hear! Let's have a few good drinks later and not go home until we're drunk!"
Dress looked at Future and joked, "Oh~ why is there a little panda too?"
Future fittingly yawned, her head bobbing up and down, looking sleepy.
Su Mo laughed and said, "She stayed up late again last night. Someone get her an iced coffee."
"No problem, I'll have someone make it by hand in a bit." Dress glanced at the end of the group, at KK, and said, "This person—"
He dragged out his voice, giving Su Mo a nudge in the ribs with his elbow: "Sir or madam?"
Su Mo nearly burst out laughing.
It's not hard to see why Dress was confused; KK always had delicate features, and after improving his diet, his skin was paler and more smooth than before, making it really hard to tell his gender at first look.
Just like Dongdong, KK was super sociable and started acting right on the spot.
With his hands in his pockets and chin raised arrogantly, he clicked his tongue at Dress and said, "Hey, Old D, nice to meet you. On the streets, everyone respectfully calls me Master K."
Dress was also a seasoned veteran, extremely witty, and immediately knelt on one knee to shake KK's hand, like a devoted knight, he said, "Master K! My respects!"
This made KK so nervous that he couldn't continue the act. He quickly smiled and helped Dress up: "Just kidding, just kidding, call me Xiaok..."
Dress laughed heartily and called out to everyone, "The summit is about to start, let's go."
Su Mo led the three behind Dress, keeping a not-too-far but not-too-close distance.
Lowering his voice, Su Mo asked, "What do you think of Old D?"
Dongdong replied without hesitation, "He's a nice guy, very pleasant to talk to."
KK also nodded, "Humorous, generous, can joke around, and very friendly too."
Su Mo patted both their heads, then looked ahead at Dress, who incessantly greeted acquaintances, and said with deep meaning, "You two are still too young."
"Dress is a very shrewd person. When you're successful, he'll treat you very well, like his own brother, because he knows he can get a return from you far exceeding what he's put in."
"But if one day you fall..."
KK cautiously asked, "He'd kick you aside?"
Su Mo chuckled briefly, squinting his eyes, "Let's hope that day never comes."
The four of them arrived at the main hall, and Su Mo was placed in a VIP seat, surrounded by New Moon City's famous great mercenaries and middlemen.
To show his respect, Su Mo picked up a glass of red wine and sought out two intermediaries who had often helped him: "Old D, Lady Countess, I toast you."
Audiana attended the summit in person today, with delicate light makeup, dressed in a fiery red evening gown that made her well-maintained face and figure look like she was in her early twenties, giving no hint that she was over thirty.
She held a cigarette holder in one hand and elegantly raised a wine glass in the other to toast back to Su Mo: "Grand Captain Su is a celebrity now, why still so polite?"
Su Mo said sincerely, "Without the guidance of seniors back then, how could there be me today? I will always be the junior."
A hint of gratification appeared in Audiana's eyes, and she smiled, "Famous all over the city, yet maintaining composure, certainly a talent for great deeds. You're the protagonist today, enjoy this pleasant night."
Dress surreptitiously remarked, "Old Su is having a good time; some people are not so happy."
Having said that, he glanced toward a small round table not far away.
Following his gaze, Su Mo saw two "familiar faces."
One was a man in an expensive suit with a middle part hairstyle.
His name was Jin Taiyu, also a major intermediary in New Moon City, with influence comparable to Dress and Audiana.
In a sense, they were "rivals."
Because Jin Taiyu's big backer was Hegemony Company.
While Dress and Audiana's support was the Iron Blood Alliance.
The other "familiar face" was Ou Chenyu, who was toasting Jin Taiyu.
Audiana asked, "Old D, wasn't Ou Chenyu with you before? How come he's gone to Jin Taiyu's side?"
Dress's expression turned displeased: "I can't disclose the details, anyway there was a commission once, and he did a really bad job, even unjustifiably vented his anger on me, so I reduced my cooperation frequency with him."
"When he couldn't get enough from me, he went to mix with Jin Taiyu, and we haven't been in contact anymore."
Instigator Su Mo smirked subtly.
Audiana reminded, "Su Mo, it's best to stay away from Ou Chenyu. He probably hates your guts now."
Su Mo: "Oh? Why is that?"
Audiana: "Earlier this year, everyone thought Ou Chenyu would be the rookie of the year because his ability was indeed strong, and the operation against the Anqing Association brought his reputation to its peak."
"But he didn't accomplish anything significant afterward, and then you, the unexpected super rookie, emerged, stealing all the spotlight and fame from him. Do you think he hates you?"
As if to confirm Audiana's words, Ou Chenyu glanced over, his gaze landing on Su Mo, full of hostility.
Regarding this Ou Chenyu facing him, Su Mo had long judged that he was walking the "demonic path."
On this path, Ou Chenyu had no morality, only interests, an intense desire for wealth and fame, willing to stop at nothing to climb higher, even selling out close brothers.
