Surviving in the Beast World with a System

Chapter 246: Send Him Away

The Beastman who was speaking suddenly stopped and looked down at his feet.

The Beastman Warriors around him, who had been listening intently, noticed the strange look on his face as he stared at the ground. "What’s wrong?" one of them couldn’t help but ask.

"It’s already gotten dark. If we don’t head back soon, we’ll be in trouble if we run into a large pack of beasts out hunting."

But the Beastman handed the kill he was carrying on his shoulder to a tribesman beside him, then crouched down and pressed his ear to the ground, listening intently.

After a moment, he stood up, his expression grim as he stared at the ground. "Something’s digging down there."

"Digging?" The Beastmen looked at one another in confusion. "Isn’t that normal?"

The Beastman Warrior shook his head. "It’s deep. Very deep."

The expressions of several Black Wolf Tribe Beastman Warriors changed abruptly. "Are you saying there’s a beast underground?"

The Beastman Warrior who had spoken shook his head. "The presence... it doesn’t feel like a normal beast."

If it wasn’t a normal beast, then it was either a Fierce Beast or a Beastman from another tribe.

The other Beastmen looked at him. "We’ll start digging here and see what it is. If it tunnels into the tribe’s territory, our people will be in danger."

The Beastman nodded. "Alright."

Down below, Shuye had of course heard their voices. He glanced to his left, his beady black eyes flashing, and immediately changed direction, digging that way.

A moment later, the Black Wolf Tribe Beastman Warriors digging the pit felt a sudden chill behind them. They turned to look, and their faces paled.

A circle of vicious, scarlet-eyed rats, each as long as a Beastman’s calf, now surrounded the top of the pit.

The faces of the Black Wolf Tribe Beastman Warriors fell in unison. Even the one who had first noticed the underground activity wore an expression of utter misery.

’What rotten luck! We thought we might catch a Beastman from another tribe, but instead, it’s a Fierce Beast Group—and a ferocious rat pack, no less!’

"What are you staring at?! Run!"

With a collective roar, the Beastmen leaped out of the pit and sprinted madly toward their tribe.

A moment later, a small, grimy head popped out of the pit the Black Wolf Tribe Beastman Warriors had dug.

A closer look revealed that, aside from a different fur color, the chubby build and pudgy appearance unmistakably belonged to Shuye.

But the little mouse’s body was swaying precariously. A moment later, he lowered his small head. "BLEGH~"

He immediately threw up.

Then, squeaking frantically, he scurried toward a small river nearby.

To lure the ferocious rat pack, Shuye had tunneled to a spot near their nest. He’d even gone to the trouble of collecting their droppings and smearing them all over his body to pass through undetected.

Hearing the miserable howls of the Black Wolf Tribe Beastmen in the distance, a smug look appeared on Shuye’s dripping, mouse-like face. "Squeak~"

He quickly filled in the pit the Black Wolf Tribe Beastmen had dug, then returned to his own work.

With such a huge commotion on this side, how could the Snow Tiger Tribe Beastmen in the cavern below not hear it?

Yun Lang climbed up the deep blue crystal wall, grabbing a vine secured to it to pull himself up to the mouth of the cavern. He pressed his ear to the opening, listening to the sounds outside.

The cries of the Black Wolf Tribe Beastmen, mingled with the squeaking of countless rats, reached him, causing the muscles all over his body to tense instantly. He stared sharply at the entrance to the cavern above.

’If a Beastman from the Black Wolf Tribe were to fall in, then...’

Glancing at his own tiger paws, claws already extended, the Beastman’s eyes narrowed. ’...I’ll have to send him on his way.’
