Chapter 762 - 750: I Want You to Marry Me (37)
Eleanor Bishop looked up at Archie Lockwood, stunned into silence.
Archie Lockwood massaged her leg as he said in a deep voice, "Don’t even think about refusing me. You know what the consequences are if you do!"
"I... Why are you doing this to me?" She didn’t understand what he meant by all this...
’Is this to punish me? Or to humiliate me and laugh at my expense? Or is he just pitying me because of my leg injury?’
"Eleanor Bishop, if you don’t want to spend the rest of your life in a wheelchair, then you’ll do as I say. Besides, you should know better than anyone that you’re much better off with me than with that mayor father of yours." He had enough time and money to help her...
She wouldn’t have to do anything but obediently listen to him and stay by his side.
Just as Eleanor Bishop was about to retort and defend her father, she heard Shirley Lockwood’s voice from the doorway. "Dad, I brought the doctor!"
Hearing the voice, Eleanor Bishop quickly wiped away her tears and turned to look at the newcomers.
Archie Lockwood’s expression was cold and stern. He carefully placed Eleanor Bishop’s legs on the floor, then stood up and glanced at the doctor Rory had brought. "Check her legs. See if she injured them in the fall."
"Yes, sir."
The family doctor, Victor Miller, knelt beside Eleanor Bishop and carefully examined her legs.
When Shirley Lockwood saw the doctor examining the pretty lady instead of her dad, she grew a little confused. She tugged on Archie Lockwood’s arm and whispered, "Dad, what’s going on? Did the pretty lady hurt her leg?"
Hearing Rory’s words, Archie Lockwood lowered his head.
He recalled how, not long ago, Rory had been bad-mouthing him to Eleanor Bishop. A wicked smirk crossed his lips, and he then put on a serious expression, saying in a deep voice, "Yes, she’s injured her leg. So, for the time being, you need to take good care of her at home."
"What? Me? Take care of her?" Shirley Lockwood immediately lost her composure.
Archie Lockwood’s face was grim as he nodded and said matter-of-factly, "Of course, you’ll take care of her. Don’t forget, if it weren’t for you just now, neither of us would have fallen."
At the mention of what had just happened, Shirley Lockwood did feel a little guilty and at fault. "Uh... okay, fine. I’ll take care of her. But Dad, does this mean the pretty lady is going to be staying with us for a while?"
"Mhm..." Archie Lockwood nodded, raising an eyebrow. "What? Is there a problem?"
Shirley Lockwood’s eyes darted around. She awkwardly rubbed her little nose and shook her head. "No, no problem. Just... don’t regret letting me personally take care of the pretty lady, Dad." ’When the time comes, don’t blame me for showing no mercy!!’
’I’ll be sure to take *really* good care of her!’
’I’m going all in on sabotaging Dad!’
If Archie Lockwood had looked closely at Shirley Lockwood, he would have definitely noticed the mischievous glint in her eyes. Unfortunately, his attention was focused entirely on Eleanor Bishop at that moment.
After Victor Miller finished examining Eleanor Bishop, he gave Archie Lockwood some ointment. He instructed him to apply it and massage it in for half an hour before bed each day to reduce swelling and pain, relax the muscles, and improve blood circulation.
Shirley Lockwood saw her dad staring blankly at the ointment. She stood on her tiptoes, snatched the tube from Archie Lockwood’s hand, and said with a grin and a raised eyebrow, "Dad, the pretty lady and I are sleeping together tonight, so I’ll make sure to apply the ointment and massage it in just like the instructions say. You can rest easy."
’I haven’t found my real mom yet, so there’s no way I can risk letting Dad hop into some stepmom’s bed already!’
’I have to nip any potential illicit affair in the bud...’
