She nodded in astonishment.

A wicked smirk played on Archie Lockwood’s lips as he leaned in close to her.

Gazing at the handsome face suddenly looming before her, Eleanor Bishop’s heart hammered wildly in her chest. She was so nervous she held her breath, simply staring at him, dazed and unsettled.

Archie Lockwood watched her blush, her shy and anxious expression sending a wave of warmth through him. He raised his hand and gently caressed Eleanor Bishop’s lips. In a raspy voice, he slowly said, "Don’t be afraid. I’m here for you."

"Mm..." Eleanor Bishop’s heart trembled. Her eyes welled up as she nodded, her throat tight with emotion.

He looked down, unbuckled Eleanor Bishop’s seatbelt, and instructed again, "Sit still. Don’t move."

Before Eleanor Bishop could reply, he turned, got out of the car, and walked around to the other side. He opened the passenger door and carefully lifted Eleanor out.

"Close the door," he said, his thin lips parting as he looked at Eleanor Bishop’s dazed expression.

Hearing this, Eleanor Bishop’s heart skipped a beat. She quickly snapped back to her senses and reached out to shut the car door.

He carried Eleanor Bishop toward the hospital entrance. By the time he reached the ground-floor lobby, Howard Rhodes and Louise Jordan had already arrived with a team of doctors, waiting for them.

Archie Lockwood placed Eleanor Bishop on a gurney.

Lying on the gurney, Eleanor Bishop anxiously grabbed Archie Lockwood’s arm. "What... What’s going on?"

"Be good. It’ll be over soon," Archie Lockwood said coolly, frowning as he gently patted Eleanor Bishop’s small hand.

"I..."

Seeing that Eleanor Bishop was about to say more, Archie Lockwood shot a cold glance at Howard Rhodes.

Howard Rhodes understood immediately and quickly instructed the doctors to take her for an examination.

Eleanor Bishop uneasily let go of Archie Lockwood’s arm. ’I don’t understand why he brought me to the hospital.’ But when she remembered him saying, "Don’t be afraid. I’m here for you!", her heart began to settle inexplicably.

As Eleanor Bishop was wheeled away for the examination, Archie Lockwood followed close behind.

Eleanor Bishop was inside for her examination for over an hour, and Archie Lockwood waited outside for just as long.

After the examination, a nurse pushed Eleanor Bishop out in a wheelchair. Archie Lockwood looked at her pretty face, now pale and utterly devoid of color. Seeing how she was so thin she was practically skin and bones, his handsome brows knitted in displeasure. He strode over, bent down, and lifted Eleanor straight out of the wheelchair.

Startled at being suddenly lifted by Archie Lockwood, Eleanor Bishop asked in a panic, "Archie Lockwood, what are you doing now?" ’I know he won’t hurt me now, but I have no idea what he’s angry about this time.’

Archie Lockwood glanced down at the woman in his arms with dissatisfaction and said coldly, "Going home."

"Oh..." ’So we’re going home...’

’For some reason, I feel a pang of disappointment...’

’Probably because once I’m back home, I won’t be able to see him again...’

「Forty minutes later,」

Archie Lockwood brought Eleanor Bishop back to Lockwood Manor.

When their car passed through the gates of Lockwood Manor, the household staff were already waiting at the entrance.

Eleanor Bishop looked at Archie Lockwood in confusion, then at the staff waiting outside. ’I don’t understand what he’s up to.’

’Going home? Not *my* home, but his—to Lockwood Manor???’

Seeing her dazed look, Archie Lockwood gave a cold, wicked smirk. He opened his door, got out first, then came around to her side, opened her door, and lifted her out.

As Archie Lockwood carried Eleanor Bishop toward the staff, they bowed their heads slightly and called out in unison, "Mr. Lockwood, Miss Bishop."
