Chapter 753 - 741: I Want You to Marry Me (Part 28)
Once Shannon Vance and Howard Rhodes were out of sight, Shirley Lockwood finally looked away. She turned to Archie Lockwood and huffed, "What are you looking at? They’re long gone, and you’re still staring!"
"Getting bolder by the day, aren’t you? Weren’t you tired? Let’s go..." Archie Lockwood’s formal expression, previously meant for outsiders, vanished. With a look of helpless fondness, he reached out and ruffled Rory’s hair.
"Dad, I’m warning you—you’re not allowed to get me a stepmom!" Even though Miss Shannon seemed nice enough, she just didn’t want a stepmother.
"That depends on your behavior," Archie Lockwood said, a roguish smirk playing on his lips. With that cool remark, he turned and walked away.
Watching her dad’s smug retreat, Shirley Lockwood angrily shook her fist at his back. ’He’s just bullying me because I don’t have a real mom to back me up, isn’t he!!!!!! Does he really think I’ve given up on finding her?’
’I haven’t given up at all. Now that I’m back in Tridell, sneaking out to find her won’t be hard. It’s only a matter of time.’
After taking Rory home, Archie Lockwood left again.
He followed the address Howard Rhodes had sent him to the hospital where Eleanor Bishop had recently been going for physical therapy.
It wasn’t a large facility, just a small, ordinary hospital. His brows knitted together tightly.
’I don’t know why Mayor Bishop refuses to let me see Eleanor. If she were in my care, I would never let her get treatment in a small-scale hospital like this.’
A nurse led him to the physical therapy room.
Through the glass window, he could clearly see what was happening inside.
Just then, a woman was struggling to rise from her wheelchair. The moment she stood, before she could take even a single step, her legs buckled and she collapsed onto the floor. Gritting her teeth against the sharp pain, the woman lifted her pale face, forced a smile for the attendant at her side, and said, "I’m fine..."
Then, she pushed herself up from the floor with great effort. One hand gripped the nearby wheelchair for support while she held the other out to keep her balance and prevent another fall.
"Maybe you should stop for today," the attendant said, unable to bear watching any longer.
Eleanor Bishop shook her head with a faint smile. "It’s fine. I can do this..."
"Then don’t push yourself. If you really can’t go on, we can try again tomorrow."
"I can do this," Eleanor Bishop insisted, stubbornly shaking her head.
Seeing this, he felt a sudden, tight clench around his heart, and the pain was suffocating...
He had known she wouldn’t be well after such a severe car accident, but he’d never imagined she would still be unable to walk.
The thought of how Harold Bishop had spirited her away right after the surgery, combined with the sight of this hospital’s basic facilities, made his anger surge. In a few quick strides, he reached the door and walked straight in.
The attendant and Eleanor Bishop both turned to look at him.
The moment Eleanor Bishop saw him, her first instinct was to shrink back in alarm. But she had forgotten that her legs hadn’t recovered, and she started to topple backward.
Seeing this, Archie Lockwood strode forward, shot out a hand to catch her, and before she could even react, he bent down and swept her up into his arms.
"You... H-how... How are you here...?" Eleanor Bishop asked, her face ashen and her lips trembling with anxiety.
Archie Lockwood stared at Eleanor Bishop’s terrified expression, his brow furrowing as he snarled, "Eleanor Bishop, haven’t I warned you?"
’A warning?’
"Haven’t I warned you to never appear before me again!"
