Chapter 568 - 566: Maybe This Isn’t the Most Perfect Ending (5)
Seeing Tristan face their past so calmly, Mika Summers still couldn’t help but cry. "Back then, I was so afraid of you, but I also hated you so much."
Tristan was right. The memories from that time were anything but pleasant.
But if she couldn’t bring herself to face what happened in the past, how could she move forward with Tristan?
"I’m sorry. I’m apologizing for the bastard that Tristan Grayson used to be." Tristan Grayson’s eyes grew moist as well, and he spoke in a low, hoarse voice.
Ever since she and Tristan Grayson had gotten back together, the two words he said most often were probably "I’m sorry"...
He was always apologizing to her, constantly saying he was sorry. But how could he know that even if she had the chance to do it all over again, she would still fall in love with him and marry him without a second thought?
In truth, he hadn’t wronged her. They had simply met at the wrong time and fallen in love at the wrong time.
When she fell for him, he didn’t love her. And by the time he fell for her, she had lost all hope and was determined to leave...
Thankfully, all her efforts hadn’t been in vain. After loving him for so many years, she finally had him.
This time, she would hold his hand tightly and never let go.
They wouldn’t miss their chance this time. They would be bound together for life.
She swallowed her emotions, forced a smile, and shook her head. "The past is in the past. I only care about the Tristan Grayson I have now."
"Mmm, my love, I love you." Tristan Grayson held her tight, lowered his head, and kissed her.
Mika Summers hugged him back just as tightly, responding to him with passion. In her heart, she silently added, ’Tristan, I love you, too. I love you so, so much. It’s the kind of love you can’t just turn off. It’s not something that can be expressed with just the words "I love you." It’s a love that’s sunk into my bones, into my very blood. It’s like a powerful, powerful drug—once you’re hooked, you can never quit. And you never want to...’
On the screen, the image was of the two embracing and kissing, while everyone in the audience took out their phones to capture the moment.
At the main entrance of the hotel, Archie Lockwood stood holding Rory’s hand. He watched the couple, a faint smile playing on his lips, his eyes full of warmth.
"Daddy, that’s Auntie! Auntie looks so pretty today," Rory said sweetly, pointing at the woman in the distance as she pulled away from Tristan Grayson’s embrace.
"Yes. Let’s go. We’ve seen your aunt, so it’s time for us to leave." His sister truly was the most beautiful woman in the world.
Rory nodded obediently. Archie Lockwood bent down, picked her up, and started to leave, but her eyes never left her beautiful aunt in the main hall.
As Mika Summers gently pushed Tristan Grayson away, she happened to spot the two of them leaving at the hotel entrance. Her eyes first fell on Rory, who was looking right back at her. The little girl even raised her hand and gave her a small wave.
Seeing her brother leave with Rory, she suddenly broke into a happy smile.
’So my brother came after all. Even though he didn’t come over to say hello, he still couldn’t stop worrying about his little sister...’
"What is it? What are you looking at?" Tristan Grayson noticed his wife smiling happily. He frowned and followed her gaze, but seeing nothing, he was a little confused.
"My brother, Tristan! He couldn’t bring himself to be heartless after all. He still cares about me, his sister. He can’t really cut ties with us."
Hearing his wife’s words, Tristan Grayson’s frown relaxed into a broad smile. "Mmm. He’s just in a bad mood right now. We’ll go find him after some time has passed. If he still refuses to acknowledge you then, we’ll just leave Kiki with him. We helped him look after his kid for so long, it’s his turn to help us out. Besides, after we’re married, you and I need to have some time to ourselves, a world just for the two of us."
"You’re terrible," Mika Summers said, unable to stop herself from covering her mouth as she laughed. ’But that’s actually a pretty good idea.’
’It might be a little cruel to our son, but my brother is Kiki’s uncle. He has an obligation to look after him.’
Just then, Tiana came running over to Mika Summers with a phone in her hand. "Mika, a call! It’s for you!"
At the sound of her voice, Mika Summers turned toward Tiana and took the phone. She glanced at the caller ID, her eyes lighting up with excitement. "Hello? Jasmine, are you here?"
"I don’t think I can make it after all. But, Mika, the wedding gift I sent you should be arriving any minute now, so be on the lookout for it. As your best friend, I want to wish you a very happy marriage."
Hearing that Jasmine couldn’t make it, Mika Summers pouted. "Okay..." she mumbled, her eyes filled with disappointment.
After hanging up, Mika Summers sighed. It was a shame Jasmine couldn’t come, but at least she had received her wedding wishes.
’Maybe it’s not the most perfect ending, but... this is pretty good, too.’
At that thought, she smiled again. This time, her eyes shone with pure happiness.
