Chapter 611 - 609: Trust Xue Yang
The moment he imagined Xue Yang’s reaction to finding out all his hard work had been for naught—that he’d simply been doing all the work for someone else to take the credit—Su Jianqiang suddenly felt that the suffering he’d endured today was insignificant.
Bitch, once I make money, I won’t even give you a second glance, even if you kneel and beg me to remarry. Once I have money, I’ll be able to pick and choose from eighteen-year-old girls.
The house, which had felt so vast and empty before, was now filled with a satisfying silence. Su Jianqiang began to relish the feeling.
Zhong Hui, however, regretted her decision the moment she got downstairs with her luggage. Although Su Jianqiang was usually unreliable, he was still quite good to her. When she got angry, he would get scared and find ways to cheer her up.
But the harsh words had already been spoken. Wouldn’t she lose face if she went back now? In the future, Su Jianqiang would be so smug his nose would be in the air! Therefore, she absolutely could not back down. Otherwise, she’d never be able to keep him in check.
Su Jianqiang, I’ll give you one last chance. If you come down and find me right now, I’ll take back what I said.
Zhong Hui paced downstairs, chanting her plea internally as the minutes ticked by. Half an hour passed, then an hour... but by the time night fell, there was still no sign of Su Jianqiang.
Zhong Hui stomped her foot fiercely, grabbed her suitcase, and left.
「Back to Xue Yang and his group.」
The four of them had returned to Xue Yang’s office at Yonghui Supermarket.
The moment they walked in, Sun Yufei couldn’t hold back her confusion any longer and asked urgently, "Boss, you poured so much of your heart and soul into those meticulously planned advertisements. You even went to the Qiangsheng Printing Factory multiple times to personally supervise the production and ensure everything was perfect. Now that they’re finally done, why would you just say we don’t want them anymore?"
Xue Yang sat casually at his desk, turning on his computer. "To be honest, that batch of ads had flaws from the start," he said calmly. "I went there today to discuss adjustments with Su Guoqiang."
Sun Yufei’s eyes widened in realization. "So, you not only taught Su Guoqiang a lesson and stood up for the boss’s wife, but you also mitigated some losses. Impressive as always, Boss."
Then, her expression turned troubled. "But our cooperation with Qiangsheng is over now. What are we going to do for our future ad printing? We chose them because they were convenient and their prices were fair. This is a real headache."
Seeing this, Si Wen offered a comforting smile. "Don’t worry too much about the printing factory. I have connections with a few reputable ones, some near and some far, and they all guarantee quality service. You can take your time and pick one that fits your needs and schedule."
A wave of relief washed over Sun Yufei, and her gratitude was palpable. "Si Wen, you’re a lifesaver! Your recommendations will save me so much trouble. Thank you so much!"
Si Wen hugged Sun Yufei’s arm and said, "You’re welcome, senior. Let’s go down to the milk tea shop and we can talk it over."
"Sounds good. Let’s go."
The two went downstairs and headed straight for the Xi Tea Milk Tea Shop. The weather had turned cold recently, and business had slowed down as a result. However, this didn’t faze Song Fan. She had already launched several new hot milk tea options that were a big hit with customers. So, despite the cold, people still trickled in to place orders. Even so, business was a far cry from the bustling crowds of the past two months.
Song Fan’s brow furrowed as she sighed with worry. When is the boss’s supermarket going to reopen? The milk tea shop’s business has really taken a hit.
With milk tea, where there was one shop, a second was sure to follow. Although Song Fan was quick to introduce new products, other shops were just as quick to copy her. That, combined with the supermarket’s closure, caused a sharp drop in foot traffic. Any other owner would have gone under by now. Only someone with deep pockets like Xue Yang could afford to be so unhurried.
Cui Hao took a gentle sip of his hot milk tea, the warmth seeming to chase away some of the chill in his heart. He looked at Song Fan, his eyes full of conviction and trust. "You have to trust Godfather. He’ll definitely turn this situation around."
Song Fan gave Cui Hao a perplexed look. His relaxed demeanor was a stark contrast to her own anxiety. "How can you not be worried? If I remember correctly, the boss put you in charge of Yonghui Supermarket, didn’t he?"
Cui Hao gestured to a book on the table. "Hey, it just finished renovations and hasn’t reopened yet, right? I’m taking this time to relax. And, well, to study."
The final exams are coming up soon. This time, I absolutely will not fail. I won’t give Xue Yang the chance to laugh at me.
Song Fan just said, "Oh," her gaze then shifting to Si Wen and Sun Yufei, who had just walked in. She knew Sun Yufei well, but Si Wen was a new face.
"Yufei, is this a new friend of yours?" Song Fan asked curiously.
Sun Yufei smiled brightly. "Yes, she’s a friend of our boss and his wife. She’s also my junior from school, Si Wen."
Song Fan immediately offered Si Wen a friendly smile. "Hello, I’m Song Fan. It’s nice to meet you."
Si Wen returned the warm smile. "Hello, Song Fan. I’m Si Wen."
"’Siwen,’ like the word for ’refined’? Haha, your name is so elegant!" Song Fan said, then immediately blushed as she realized her slip-up.
Si Wen understood but didn’t point it out directly, instead offering an even gentler smile. "Thank you for the compliment. My name is actually Si Wen."
Just then, Sun Yufei’s gaze happened to land on Cui Hao. "Cui Hao?" she asked, a little surprised. "What are you doing here?"
Having seen them enter, Cui Hao had already tidied away the book on his table. Hearing Sun Yufei’s question, he answered loudly, feigning nonchalance, "If you can be here, so can I. It’s not like you own the place."
Sun Yufei frowned at his prickly tone. "I was just making small talk. Why the big reaction?"
Cui Hao seemed oblivious to his own tone, turning to Song Fan for confirmation. "Was my reaction that big?"
Song Fan stifled a laugh and nodded. "Yeah, a little."
Hearing this, a smug grin touched Cui Hao’s lips, but he deliberately raised his voice to cover his awkwardness. "Haha, no way! Who do you think I am? Me, study? Even if I walked into the exam completely cold, it’d be a piece of cake."
However, the flicker of doubt in his eyes was like a subtle ripple, betraying his true feelings.
Seeing this, a playful smirk formed on Sun Yufei’s lips, clearly unconvinced by his bravado. "Oh? Is that so? Well then, I’ll be waiting to see how a ’top student’ like you breezes through the final exams."
