Chapter 488 - 486 What’s Wrong with My Image?
Before they had even reached the second floor, the store manager hurried out to greet Si Wen.
"Miss Si Wen, you’re here. It’s been a long time."
Si Wen nodded. "Long time no see, Rose."
The store manager then gave Xue Xing a warm smile. She’d never met him before, though, and had no idea who he was. Moreover, people who sell luxury goods can almost always tell at a glance whether a customer has any purchasing power. To put it bluntly, if Xue Xing had come to the store alone today, it is likely no one would have even served him.
Xue Xing returned her smile with a perfectly harmless one of his own. He had never been to such a luxurious place. He felt like a country bumpkin in the big city, wanting to look at everything. But he was afraid of being laughed at, so he didn’t dare to look around openly. What he didn’t realize was that his timidness made him stand out even more.
The store manager, however, found her opinion of him changing. The boy clearly didn’t come from a wealthy family, but standing next to Miss Si Wen, he didn’t seem out of place at all. On the contrary, they gave off a special feeling.
That is... they’re a pretty good match.
The store manager had seen many rich young ladies and masters bring their boyfriends or girlfriends from ordinary families to shop. Of all of them, this pair left the deepest impression.
Coming to a place like this, Xue Xing suddenly understood what Si Wen had meant when she said she wanted to get him a proper outfit. If he actually showed up at her brother’s engagement party dressed as he was now, he would definitely be ridiculed. It was a small matter if he was laughed at, but Xue Xing would be devastated if he ended up embarrassing her brother.
Si Wen said to the store manager, "Please put together a few suitable outfits for him based on his style."
The manager immediately replied enthusiastically, "Of course, Miss Si Wen. Sir, please follow me." She then turned to Xue Xing with an inviting gesture.
Hearing Si Wen’s instructions, Xue Xing immediately protested, "Isn’t one outfit enough? Why do I need several?"
"Just be good and follow her. She’ll give you a head-to-toe makeover," Si Wen said, giving Xue Xing a gentle push toward the manager.
The perceptive manager gestured to two assistants with a look. They immediately flanked Xue Xing and escorted him toward the styling room inside.
"Hey, hey, what are you doing? I can walk by myself..."
The store manager bowed a full ninety degrees to Si Wen. "Miss Si Wen, please have a seat. We will be sure to create a look that satisfies you."
Xue Xing gulped, not daring to say another word.
A nearby assistant watched them, unable to hold back a chuckle.
Could this boy be Miss Si Wen’s boyfriend? He’s like a little puppy, with eyes full of love and curiosity about the world. It makes you want to get closer and ruffle his hair. Despite his young age, he has a rare maturity and steadiness that’s very reassuring. With a new look, he’ll be even cuter.
Si Wen observed Xue Xing for a moment, considered it seriously, and then said to the store manager, "Help him with a new hairstyle, too."
"I don’t need a haircut..."
"You’re my guest tomorrow. If you embarrass yourself there, you embarrass me. So what you say doesn’t count. You’ll listen to me."
"What’s so embarrassing about my hairstyle?" Xue Xing muttered under his breath.
"I said change it, so change it! Stop talking back."
"So bossy," he mumbled.
Si Wen put her hands on her hips and said loudly, "What did you say?"
"I said I’ll change it!" Xue Xing’s survival instinct was strong. Sensing trouble, he immediately caved.
Hearing this, Si Wen huffed. "That’s more like it."
Watching them bicker, the store manager couldn’t help but smile like a doting aunt. They’re a classic bickering couple; it’s just too cute. The entire staff has turned into avid shippers, savoring the sweet drama up close.
Seeing that Xue Xing had agreed to the makeover, the assistants released their hold on him. Instead, they led the way to the styling room for his transformation.
Not long after he went in, Si Wen heard his frantic voice from inside.
"Why are you stripping my clothes off?! Don’t touch me! Get away from me!"
"Sir, we need to help you try on the clothes. How else will we know which styles suit you?"
"If you needed me to change, you could have just said so! I can do it myself. You don’t need to help. Now, stop!"
Hearing him, the assistants finally stopped. They looked at him apologetically and said, "Of course."
"You all leave first," he said, clutching his clothes and watching them warily. "I’ll come out when I’m done."
"Okay, sir. If you need any help, just call out. We’ll be right outside and will come in immediately to assist you."
After saying that, the staff left.
When they were finally gone, Xue Xing let out a sigh of relief. That was terrifying. He had been dressing himself since he was three years old. The feeling of someone suddenly trying to dress him now was beyond awkward. He didn’t even know what to think.
It felt like something out of a historical drama where handmaidens dress their master. Wait, what kind of nonsense am I thinking?
Bored, Si Wen waited on the VIP couch outside. She took out her phone and logged into King’s Game. But once she was in, she found she didn’t feel like playing and logged back out. She scrolled through her phone for a while longer but couldn’t focus. All her thoughts were on Xue Xing. She was dying to know what he would look like after his transformation.
About two hours later, Xue Xing finally emerged from the styling room.
The moment he stepped out, Si Wen was utterly stunned. Dressed in a black Chanel shirt, black leather pants, and a pair of white high-top sneakers, he looked incredibly stylish. His demeanor was elegant, exuding a rebellious charm. He was a world apart from the person who had walked in earlier.
Indeed, clothes make the man. With a change of clothes and hairstyle, his entire aura had transformed.
Si Wen wasn’t the only one stunned. Xue Xing himself was also astonished. He never imagined he had a side like this. If he ran into anyone he knew, they probably wouldn’t even recognize him.
Si Wen circled him, finally giving her verdict. "Like this, I suppose you barely meet the standard."
Barely meets the standard? Her standards are ridiculously high!
"Put that on him," Si Wen said, pointing at a men’s necklace in a display case.
"Right away."
The manager immediately took the necklace out and fastened it around Xue Xing’s neck. His aura was elevated even further.
"Perfect. Let’s go," Si Wen said proudly.
"Wait, how much is this outfit? I’ll pay for it myself."
"Pay for what? Let’s go," Si Wen said, grabbing his arm and pulling him toward the exit.
"Huh? We don’t have to pay?"
