Chapter 483 - 481: Xiao Bai, Call Uncle~
"I advise you to get those ridiculous ideas out of your head. Your brother and I have no relationship whatsoever." Seeing Xue Xing’s expression, Si Wen knew he must be letting his imagination run wild again.
Xue Xing pouted. "Then why are you living at my brother’s house?"
"I bought this villa. Why do you think I’m living in it?"
"You bought it?" Xue Xing was even more confused.
Si Wen rolled her eyes at him but still explained patiently, "This was a romantic gift for your sister-in-law. I also bought it for them because your brother did me a huge favor. You get it now?"
"Oh, I get it. But... if it’s a gift for them, why are you staying here?" Xue Xing was still lost.
If she already gave it away, what does it mean for her to still be living here? Was it really a gift or not? Does it belong to Si Wen, or to my brother and sister-in-law?
"Because I’m homeless, I’m staying here temporarily. Happy now?"
"I don’t believe you. You’re so rich, how could you possibly be homeless?"
"You wouldn’t understand anyway. I’m just staying here for now. Don’t worry, I’ve already bought the villa next door. If it ever becomes inconvenient for your brother and his wife, I can move into my own place anytime," Si Wen said, pointing to the neighboring property.
Xue Xing’s mouth formed a perfect ’O’.
Is this the world of the rich? Buying villas without so much as blinking...
"Do you live alone?"
"Otherwise? You want to live with me?"
"That’s not what I was thinking!" Xue Xing said hurriedly. I shouldn’t have asked.
"Stop gawking and come on in."
"Ohh..."
Xue Xing followed Si Wen into the villa. From the outside, it had already looked magnificent. After entering, Xue Xing realized that what he had seen was just the tip of the iceberg. It had a unique design with sleek, grand lines, occupying a vast area with a meticulously manicured garden. Lush green trees and vibrant flowers created a scene bursting with life.
Stepping inside, he was greeted by a vast hall where a magnificent, dazzling crystal chandelier hung from the ceiling. The floor was exquisite marble, and the living room was furnished in an elegant yet comfortable style. The classy sofas and coffee table spoke volumes of the owner’s taste, and the spacious dining room was filled with a warm atmosphere... The hall alone left Xue Xing so stunned he couldn’t speak.
"Wow, it’s so big and luxurious in here." Xue Xing had only ever seen houses like this on TV.
Is this really my brother’s house? he wondered. At that moment, his estimation of Xue Yang was elevated to new heights.
"Don’t act like you’ve never seen the world before. I’ll take you to your bedroom for the night so you can put your things down." Si Wen pulled him further inside.
Hearing the word "bedroom," Xue Xing suddenly stopped in his tracks. "Wait, you just said my brother doesn’t live here. Does that mean it’ll just be the two of us tonight?"
"What, afraid I’ll eat you up?" Si Wen teased.
Xue Xing muttered quietly, "You’re the one who should be afraid."
"What did you say?"
"Nothing." Xue Xing touched his nose and looked away, not daring to meet Si Wen’s gaze. His eyes then landed on the little white cat approaching them.
"This cat is so cute!" Xue Xing was instantly smitten.
Si Wen crossed her arms and lifted her chin slightly. "His name is Xiao Bai, and I’m just looking after him for now. Xiao Bai, come say hello to your big brother."
Xiao Bai trotted to Si Wen’s feet, rubbed against her ankle, and meowed incessantly, as if to say, "Mommy, you’re finally home!"
"He calls me big brother, so what does he call you?" Xue Xing asked curiously.
"He calls me Mommy, of course. Right, Xiao Bai?"
Xue Xing’s eyes widened. "Xiao Bai calls you Mommy but has to call me Big Brother? What’s that supposed to mean?"
"What’s wrong? Don’t tell me you want Xiao Bai to call you Daddy?"
Xue Xing’s handsome face instantly flushed red. "That’s not what I meant at all!" Honestly, why does she have to twist my words like that?
"Then what did you mean?"
"If Xiao Bai calls you Mommy and me Big Brother, aren’t you taking advantage of me?" Xue Xing’s aggrieved look was adorably fierce.
Si Wen’s tone softened a bit. "Then what do you think Xiao Bai should call you?"
"He should... he should call me Uncle."
"Pfft..." Si Wen couldn’t help but laugh at his awkwardness. She stroked Xiao Bai’s fluffy head. "Xiao Bai, say ’Uncle’..."
"MEOW."
The timing between the girl and the cat was simply perfect.
"Let’s go. Your bedroom is on the second floor; it’s all ready for you."
"Ohh..."
Xue Xing couldn’t shake the feeling that having Xiao Bai call him ’Uncle’ was also a bit strange. He wasn’t even seventeen yet. How could he be an uncle?
"Here we are. This is your room."
Just as the villa’s hall was outrageously luxurious, the bedroom was spacious and serene. It had a soft bed, an en-suite bathroom, and exquisite, stylish decor. To Xue Xing’s delight, there was even a dedicated study!
Just this one room is almost as big as my entire house...
"Put your things down."
"Oh, are we going somewhere else?" Xue Xing asked as he obediently set his backpack down.
A study! I can do my homework here. If I finish it all tonight, I won’t have to worry about it tomorrow or the day after, he planned inwardly.
"Don’t tell me you brought homework with you."
"You bought the tickets in such a hurry, when would I have had time to do my homework? I was going to do it on the plane, but I was too excited the whole way and couldn’t settle down..."
"How much do you have left?"
"Not much, just seven tests," Xue Xing said, holding up seven fingers.
"Seven tests isn’t a lot?"
"I can finish all seven in one night."
"Are you planning to pull an all-nighter?"
"A night without sleep is no big deal. Once it’s done, I won’t have to think about it anymore."
That did make sense.
"Aren’t you hungry now?"
Now that Si Wen mentioned it, Xue Xing’s stomach immediately started to growl. Embarrassed, he admitted, "Actually, I’m starving."
"Let’s go eat first."
"Where are we going?"
"Out to eat, of course." When it came to food, Si Wen never settled for less.
"It’s so late. Going out and coming back will take ages—enough time for me to finish a whole test. Isn’t there any food at my brother’s house?"
"There is. Do you know how to cook?"
Xue Xing raised an eyebrow. "Underestimating me?"
"Fine, you cook then. This is a perfect chance for me to see whose cooking is better—yours or your brother’s."
"You’ve eaten my brother’s cooking..." Xue Xing didn’t realize it himself, but his tone was a bit sour.
Si Wen didn’t catch his tone and just huffed, "Of course I have. It was pretty good, actually."
