Rejected by the Campus Belle, I Find My True Love

Chapter 481 - 479: Just Us Tonight?

After speaking, Si Wen suddenly realized something. That means Auntie Shen isn’t at the villa tonight. Does that mean I’ll be in the same house alone with Xue Xing?

At this thought, Si Wen quickly grabbed Auntie Shen’s hand. "Auntie Shen, can you go back tomorrow instead?"

She wondered whether she should tell Xue Yang. But if Xue Yang finds out I tricked his brother into coming here, will he forbid Xue Xing from seeing me? No, that’s not the problem. It’s... oh, dear, I don’t even know what the problem is anymore.

"Auntie Shen~" Si Wen cooed, pulling on her hand, hoping she would stay and keep her company for the night. As long as I’m not left alone with Xue Xing, it’ll be fine.

"Miss Si Wen, I only came over today because I was worried about you," Auntie Shen explained. "The Young Miss is getting engaged the day after tomorrow, and there are so many things to take care of at home. I really can’t stay here tonight. If you get hungry, I’ve already prepared food and put it in the fridge. When you feel like eating, just heat it up. If you don’t feel like it, that’s fine too. You can always order takeout."

She had already returned to the Lin Family estate but still made a point to come over every day to clean and cook for Si Wen, always leaving as soon as she was done. With the engagement drawing near, she was naturally even busier. She wouldn’t have time to come over tomorrow either, which was why she had prepared so many meals and stored them in the fridge. If Si Wen wanted to eat, she could heat something up; if not, that was fine. She was sure Miss Si Wen wouldn’t starve.

"Okay then." Si Wen didn’t insist further; Xiao Xi’s engagement was simply more important.

"Miss Si Wen, I should go back now."

"Is Uncle Liu picking you up?" Si Wen asked.

"Yes."

"Alright then, Auntie Shen, be careful on the road. See you in a few days."

"Alright, Miss Si Wen. Goodbye."

After Auntie Shen left, Si Wen changed into a knee-length, black, Chanel-style skirt. Her long hair cascaded down her back like silk. She slung a red, limited-edition Xiang Naier purse over her shoulder and headed out the door.

Her exclusive Rolls-Royce was already waiting. Seeing Si Wen emerge, a bodyguard in sunglasses opened the rear door for her. Si Wen gave a slight nod. After she got in, the bodyguard securely closed the door, quickly walked to the driver’s seat, started the engine, and headed toward Yancheng Airport.

Xue Xing’s flight was at 7:00, with an estimated landing time of around 9:00. Si Wen arrived at Yancheng Airport at 9:30, exactly half an hour late.

Strange, why isn’t Sister Si Wen here yet? Did she stand me up?

It was Xue Xing’s first time in a big city. He stared at Yancheng Airport, a facility three times the size of Huicheng Airport, feeling like a frightened quail. Having waited so long without any sign of Si Wen, he just wanted to find a secluded corner to hide in.

Maybe I should just call my brother. But right before he boarded the plane, Si Wen had warned him not to. If I tell him... Thinking of Si Wen’s tigress-like demeanor, Xue Xing pulled out his phone, only to hesitate again.

As the minutes ticked by, it felt wrong to just stand there waiting like an idiot. He had the unsettling feeling that everyone was watching him.

Gathering his courage, Xue Xing walked outside. As he stepped onto the plaza, he saw rows of neatly aligned taxis, like a pack waiting for its prey. Once they spotted a target, they would immediately swarm over to feast on it. For instance, when they saw Xue Xing wandering out like a headless fly, they knew they had one.

"Young man, need a ride?"

"No, thank you. I’m waiting for someone to pick me up," Xue Xing declined as he hurried past.

Most of the drivers backed off when they heard him say he was waiting for a ride, but one or two chose to persist.

"I’m really waiting for someone. Please go find another fare," he said firmly.

Seeing that Xue Xing truly didn’t want a ride, the others dispersed. Only one cheerful, middle-aged man who looked to be in his forties kept pace with him.

"So, who’s picking you up? A man or a woman?"

"A woman..." For some reason, Xue Xing’s face grew hot as he said it. Will people think there’s something going on between me and Sister Si Wen?

"It’s late, and the plane landed half an hour ago," the driver said. "If she were really coming, she’d have been here before you landed. Kid, take it from me. In situations like this, it usually means they’re not coming."

"Ah? Is that so?"

"Trust me. I’ve picked up countless passengers at this airport, and I’ve seen your exact situation hundreds, if not thousands, of times. I’m telling you, she’s not coming. Just tell me where you’re going, and I’ll get you there much faster."

"It’s called... Xiangshan Villa," he replied. Sister Si Wen had mentioned she was there before he boarded the plane, but Xue Xing had no idea where that was.

"I know the place. I can take you there."

"Oh, okay then."

The other drivers looked on with envy as Xue Xing got into the car. Persistence, it seemed, was indeed the key to getting a fare.

Not long after Xue Xing’s taxi departed, Si Wen’s Rolls-Royce pulled up at the airport exit. Seeing the luxury car, the other drivers wisely gave it a wide berth and went looking for their next target. Si Wen got out of the car, carrying her small purse, instantly attracting the attention of passersby. However, with a tall and imposing bodyguard standing beside her, no one dared to approach.

That Xue Xing... didn’t I tell him to wait at the entrance? Where is he?

Si Wen pulled out her phone to call him, only to find it was still in airplane mode.

That kid... did he forget to turn airplane mode off? How am I supposed to find him in an airport this huge? Ugh, this is so frustrating.

"Uncle Zhong, call airport security," she ordered. "Have them check the surveillance footage from all entrances and exits for the last half hour and see if you can find him."

"Yes, Miss." Uncle Zhong immediately took out his phone and made the call.

About ten minutes later, they discovered that Xue Xing had gotten into a taxi.

"Check and see which direction that car went."

With the license plate number, finding him would be much easier. Another ten minutes later, they had the driver’s information.

"What? He’s already out of the car? Where did you drop him?" Uncle Zhong’s professional, authoritative tone was so intimidating that the taxi driver’s hands trembled on the steering wheel.

"Just... near the Xiangshan Villa District."

Hearing that he had dropped Xue Xing off near the Xiangshan Villa District, Si Wen breathed a sigh of relief.

"Go back and find him immediately," she commanded through the phone. "Once you do, make sure he stays in your car and doesn’t move until we get there."

"Yes, yes, I’ll go right now!" The driver immediately spun the wheel and headed back to where he had just dropped Xue Xing off.

I thought he was just some naive kid. Who knew he was some family’s young master? From the looks of it, if anything happens to that boy, I’ll be skinned alive!
