Chapter 476 - 474: You’ve Got a Little Fan Who Wants an Autograph
Even so...
"So if you don’t make this deal with me, you won’t get anything at all?"
"Well, I can’t just take advantage of you, can I?"
Wu Xiaoya couldn’t help but take another look at him. The young man before her had a rather innocent face and big, bright eyes. Though he looked a little skinny, he radiated a youthful aura. He wore a clean professional suit, his tie knotted neatly. It was obvious at a glance that he was still new to the business.
It’s like looking at my own younger brother. A sense of familiarity bloomed deep in Wu Xiaoya’s heart.
"How about this? Help me find a one-bedroom, one-living-room apartment of about thirty square meters in this area. I want to buy it."
The agent’s eyes widened in surprise. "Wait, you mean... you want to buy a place!"
"Yeah, what’s wrong? You don’t believe I can afford it?"
"It’s not that, I just... you look like you’ve just graduated. You don’t seem like someone who could afford to buy a place."
"See that building over there?" Wu Xiaoya pointed to the nearby Lipu Building.
"I know it! That’s the headquarters of King’s Game Company. I heard it was founded by some Yancheng university students, and they rented the entire building in less than a year. They’re so amazing! They’re my gods."
"I work there."
The real estate agent was even more astounded. His surprise quickly turned into pure excitement.
"You work there?!"
"Mm-hmm. Don’t I look the part?"
"It’s not that, I just didn’t expect it. You’re so incredible for working there! By the way, have you seen the company’s owner? I’ve only seen him on TV and in newspapers. He’s so handsome! And his girlfriend is stunningly beautiful, too."
What guy doesn’t want to be rich? Who wouldn’t want a ridiculously beautiful girlfriend and be the envy of everyone? The young agent, of course, had the same dream. But he could only fantasize about it or admire others from afar. He knew he’d never be that lucky himself.
"Of course. As long as I’m here, I see him every day."
The young agent hesitated for a long moment before finally seeming to make up his mind. "Then... could you get his autograph for me? Oh, and my name is Chen Jiahui. You can call me Ah Hui."
Wu Xiaoya smiled helplessly. He really must be new to the workforce. We’ve been talking for so long, and it’s only now that he thinks to introduce himself. But then again, nobody knows everything from the get-go. I was the same way, missing a lot of details when I first started. It was something I had to learn through practice. I was lucky my boss gave me the chance to hone my skills; otherwise...
"Alright. If I’m satisfied with the apartment you find for me, I’ll get you the boss’s autograph."
"Thank you! I’ll go look right now. I’ll definitely find a place you’re happy with. See you!"
After saying that, Chen Jiahui immediately ran off.
Wu Xiaoya had originally planned to head back to her rental apartment, but then she remembered—Wait, all my things have been moved out already. They’re at the company for now. So, she headed back to the office instead.
I’m going back to Hui City tomorrow. Why not just spend the night at the office? It’s only for one night, after all. No big deal. I still don’t want to stay in a hotel. It just doesn’t seem worth the money. Besides, as a woman staying alone, I wouldn’t dare. The office is much safer.
Wu Xiaoya went to the pantry, where all her belongings were stored. Although she had already sent most of her things by courier to Hui City, the amount left was still impressive. She had no idea why she had so much luggage; before, she always felt like she was short on clothes, bags, and shoes.
Just then, the pantry door was suddenly thrown open. Xue Yang’s tall figure appeared in the doorway.
Seeing who it was, Wu Xiaoya jumped. "Boss..."
"You’re back?" Xue Yang asked upon seeing her. He’d heard a noise and came to check, not expecting to find Wu Xiaoya.
"Yes, I came back to take care of a few things," Wu Xiaoya said, getting up from the floor. She looked a little disheveled.
She had arrived in Yancheng very late last night and had gotten into an argument with Chen Ying first thing in the morning, after which she moved out. She had been busy the entire day. These past two days were probably the most exhausting she’d had in a long time. Though she acted nonchalant after her fight with Chen Ying, only she knew how much her heart was aching. All she could do now was try to numb the pain with work.
Xue Yang sized her up and asked, "Are you... planning to stay in the office tonight?"
Wu Xiaoya lowered her head, mumbling embarrassedly, "Boss... I..."
Xue Yang frowned. "The company provides an allowance for business trips. You can get a hotel room, and the company will reimburse you."
"I don’t dare stay in a hotel by myself."
"Let me ask if Kexin has a spare room." With that, Xue Yang called Yu Kexin. "Yes, it’s just Xiao Ya. Would it be convenient for her to stay at your place for a night?"
After hanging up, Xue Yang said to Wu Xiaoya, "Go on. Kexin is downstairs, getting ready to head home."
Hearing Xue Yang’s gentle voice, Wu Xiaoya couldn’t hold it in any longer and started to cry.
"Thank you..." she sobbed.
From childhood until now, Xue Yang was probably the kindest person she had ever met. He had given her a job when she ran out after a huge fight with her family during the New Year. Now, after she’d had a falling-out with her best friend, he was helping her find a place to stay. How could she not be moved?
"Hmm. For my most capable secretary to not even have a place to stay... that’s clearly my failure as a boss. I’ll have the administration department rent an apartment in a nearby complex to serve as temporary housing for staff on business trips."
At his words, Wu Xiaoya immediately stopped crying. The boss can be so clueless sometimes.
"Boss, there’s no need. I’ve already decided to buy a place of my own."
"Let me know if you need anything. The company apartment still needs to be arranged, regardless. You should head down now; Kexin is waiting for you."
With that, Xue Yang turned to leave.
"Boss..." Wu Xiaoya called out to him again.
Xue Yang stopped and turned back. "What is it? Is there something else?"
"There’s a young fan of yours who wants your autograph."
"?"
"He’s a young real estate agent. I was actually planning to rent a place today, but after he learned about my situation, he suggested that renting wouldn’t be a good deal for me... and that’s basically what happened." Wu Xiaoya briefly recounted the day’s events with Chen Jiahui to Xue Yang.
"What kind of autograph does he want?"
Xue Yang normally wasn’t interested in giving out autographs. However, since it was for someone who helped his employee, fulfilling such a small request seemed like no big deal.
