Chapter 419 - 417 Is This the Work of a Human?
Si Wen listened to Xue Xing, feeling like she understood, yet at the same time, not entirely grasping his meaning.
She turned to look at Xue Yang. His expression was placid, as if he had everything under control. Suddenly, Si Wen felt that she didn’t quite understand him.
This is his home, isn’t it? Why does he seem so indifferent? Shouldn’t he be even happier than Xue Xing?
"You don’t have to look at my brother," Xue Xing said from the side. "He’s like that. Even when he got into Yanbei University, he acted all indifferent, as if the person who got accepted was someone else and not him."
"Oh."
Looking at a new house is only exciting at first. After a while, the feeling fades.
"Let’s play a game."
"Sure."
Si Wen glanced at Xue Xing. "Finally willing to play a game with me?"
"Didn’t I play the day you came, too?"
"That was because I forced you to play with me. Otherwise, would you have agreed?"
Xue Xing looked a little sheepish. "Well, we’re already out today, and I didn’t bring my homework, so playing a round or two is no big deal. Besides, I have to go back to school for remedial classes in a couple of days. You won’t be able to find me for a game then, even if you want to."
"You’re going back to school in a couple of days?"
"Yeah. The school already sent out the notice."
"Xue Yang, Xiao Xi, are you two playing?"
"Let’s play."
As soon as Xue Yang spoke, Lin Xi naturally agreed.
The four of them logged into the game. Xue Yang created a party and set up a lobby, but they were one person short.
"Let’s just recruit someone from the lobby."
As soon as Si Wen finished speaking, a player with a cute female avatar joined. And she had her mic on.
"Little brothers~"
That fake, cutesy voice was so grating it could probably kill a fly.
"Little brothers~ Why aren’t you talking? Did I scare you?"
The four of them exchanged glances, silently asking each other if they should start.
"Brother, come on, start the game. Your Yao Yao is really good."
"Will you let me ride you?"
"And if we win, can you buy me a skin? I’ll send you black stocking pics as a thank-you, okay?"
What a green tea bitch.
Si Wen knew this type all too well. Her mic was already on, so she immediately replied in an even more cloying, saccharine voice, "Brother, let’s start! My Cheng Cheng is super strong, you know."
Si Wen had recently started playing Cheng Yaojin and often threw her games, much to the intense dissatisfaction of her teammates. The hot-tempered ones would usually start cursing her out directly.
Sometimes, when the cursing got really bad and her teammates were clamoring to surrender, she would suddenly pipe up, "Brother, can’t we play anymore? It’s all my fault~"
Hearing this, her teammates would get a shot of adrenaline and turn a losing game into a victory.
Of course, this tactic didn’t always work. Sometimes, no matter how much they wanted to win, she had fed the enemy so much that a comeback was impossible.
After Si Wen spoke, Xue Yang started the game.
As usual, he picked his signature jungler, this time choosing the "Mad Dog" Dian Wei. Xue Xing picked the marksman, Huang Zhong. Lin Xi took the mid-laner, Daji. Si Wen locked in Cheng Yaojin. The random player picked Yao.
At first, she followed Xue Yang around to help him jungle. But Xue Yang just let her attack the jungle monsters alone. Even when a monster was down to a sliver of health, he wouldn’t move to finish it off. In the end, Yao Mei was killed by a monster’s attack.
"Brother, don’t you want your Yao Yao?" she whined, her voice dripping with fake sobs. Most guys wouldn’t have been able to resist it.
Unfortunately for her, she had run into two guys who were completely immune.
"Not necessary."
After respawning, she headed to the bottom lane to support the marksman.
Xue Xing had a bad feeling when he saw her coming. He copied Xue Yang’s tactic: as long as she was there, he wouldn’t attack. Sure enough, it wasn’t long before Yao Mei was killed by the enemy Luban.
"Marksman brother... you don’t want Yao Yao either?"
Yao Mei was clearly used to this tactic of playing the victim.
"I can handle it myself," Xue Xing said. "Why don’t you go support the mid-laner?"
Lin Xi was in the mid lane playing Daji. Three minutes into the game, she had already pushed the enemy Ancila so hard that she didn’t dare leave her tower. Clearly, Lin Xi didn’t need any support either.
But Yao Mei obviously didn’t want to go to the top lane, where Si Wen was playing Cheng Yaojin. The brutal critical hit from Si Wen at the start of the game had left her with some psychological trauma, so she reluctantly went to the mid lane.
However, a new problem arose. The jungler, Xue Yang, would often visit the mid lane, and he and Lin Xi would openly flirt right in front of her. Sometimes, Yao Mei would deliberately try to attach herself to Xue Yang, but Lin Xi would just ignore her and continue her lovey-dovey display with the jungler.
They would even deliberately lead her under the enemy’s turret. After the turret killed her, they would continue flirting right next to her corpse.
Are these people even human?
After this happened several times, Yao Mei finally realized that these people were just messing with her.
A smart player would have started playing properly at this point, helping whoever needed it. But not her. Instead, she doubled down on playing the victim.
"I know my presence is a bother to you, but you’re the ones who recruited from the public lobby! Isn’t it too cruel to treat a random player like this?"
"Why aren’t you talking? Is it because you know you’re in the wrong?"
"I’m not an unreasonable person. Since you feel guilty, I’ll forgive you."
"You brothers have probably never met someone as nice as me, have you? I’m not like that other sister, who just clings to her man. If *I* were with a brother, I wouldn’t care who he plays with or if some other Yao attaches herself to him..."
Si Wen almost rolled her eyes into the back of her head. Where did this psycho come from? We’re ignoring her, and she’s still putting on a one-woman show.
Fed up, Si Wen typed a message in the all-chat: "[All] Our Yao says you guys are all trash. Not a single one of you can fight."
The enemy team already disliked freeloaders like Yao. This message provoked their fury, and they started chasing her across the map, completely ignoring the towers.
"Sister, why are you treating me like this? Did I do something wrong? If I did, you can just tell me. Why are you targeting me? *Sob, sob, sob...*"
"Because I can’t stand the sight of you. Constantly cooing ’brother’ this and ’brother’ that... what are you, a pigeon? You should spend less time gaming and more time looking in a mirror. With a face like that, you shouldn’t be embarrassing yourself in public."
By then, their team was already at the enemy’s Nexus. The moment Si Wen finished typing, they destroyed it and won, giving the other girl no chance to reply.
Back in the post-game lobby, Xue Yang kicked her from the party without a moment’s hesitation.
The girl stared at the notification that she’d been kicked, completely stunned. This was the first time a stunt like this had ever backfired on her.
In disbelief, she found the team in her "recent players" list, clicked on Xue Yang’s profile, and sent a friend request.
I’ll just poach their best player, then we’ll see who’s laughing.
However, Xue Yang’s settings were set to automatically decline all friend requests.
Dumbfounded, she tried adding the marksman, Xue Xing, but his requests were also blocked.
How many times can one plan fail in a single day?
That left the other two...
She decided to pick the softest target and tried to add Lin Xi.
Unbelievable. Her requests were blocked, too.
