Chapter 1003 - 523: Stubborn Xipu, Encountering Volo Again!
Thanks to saving the time of traversing the entire Obsidian Fieldlands from Jubilife Village, the two officially entered the Crimson Mirelands in less than half an hour.
The ground beneath their feet gradually became softer, and a noticeable moist atmosphere began to emerge in the air, large patches of dark red mud spread alongside the road, and they could see mud pools bubbling in the distance.
The Pokemon living nearby are noticeably different from those in the Obsidian Fieldlands.
Several Croagunk were squatting at the edge of the wetlands, and in the distance, Toxicroak were moving through the grass.
Cynthia glanced at the items she had prepared in her Space Backpack and said with relief, "Luckily, we brought enough antidotes, there are indeed more poison-type Pokemon here than in the Obsidian Fieldlands."
"It’s okay, even if we accidentally get poisoned and don’t have antidotes, I still have the Power of Viridian, so don’t worry, sis."
Ash comforted Cynthia and then began to release Aura Perception around.
"Temporarily, there aren’t any strong Pokemon nearby, let’s go find Warden Calaba first, according to the route Miss Irida provided, she should be near the Solaceon Ruins right now."
With Wyrdeer’s help, they passed through the wetlands, avoiding several areas with impassable mud pools.
About an hour later, a ruin hidden within the mountain walls appeared before them.
The entrance to the ruin was composed of several large rocks, and the inside was dimly lit.
"Is this the Solaceon Ruins?" Ash jumped off Wyrdeer and observed the surroundings, "Miss Irida’s address should be here."
Cynthia looked up at the entrance to the ruins, eyes showing a hint of nostalgia.
"I didn’t expect the Solaceon Ruins would exist in this era."
Ash was slightly surprised and looked at Cynthia: "Sis, have you been here before?"
"Yes, I have." Cynthia nodded, "The modern Sinnoh Region also contains a Solaceon Ruins, with many complex passages and home to numerous Unown."
Cynthia looked at the ancient ruins which now had only one entrance.
"But the appearance from a millennium ago is quite different from the ruins I remember."
Wyrdeer’s size wasn’t suitable for entering narrow passages, so after thanking Him, they let Him temporarily leave.
Ash and Cynthia slowly proceeded along the sole path within the ruins.
The stone walls on both sides were covered in ancient inscriptions that had become blurred, some marks even worn down by time, leaving only shallow traces.
Cynthia slowed her pace, carefully examining the inscriptions on the walls, yet even she could barely recognize a small part of them.
"The modern Solaceon Ruins have many passages, it’s easy to get lost inside if you’re not careful."
"But the current Solaceon Ruins have only this one path."
Cynthia gently touched the stone wall, eyes carrying some thought.
"Perhaps other areas are still buried within the mountain itself, gradually discovered by descendants over a millennium."
"So, are we seeing the very beginnings of the Solaceon Ruins?"
Ash looked forward with curiosity.
"Very likely."
Continuing along the path, they quickly reached the deepest part of the ruin.
The space here was even narrower than Ash had imagined, and a large ancient Plate was embedded in the stone wall directly ahead of them.
The Plate surface was densely covered in inscriptions, but the center was missing a piece, making it impossible to connect the entire content.
An elderly person with white hair stood in front of the Plate.
The elder’s body seemed hunched, carrying a woven basket on her back, holding a wooden tablet for recording inscriptions.
Upon hearing footsteps behind her, she slowly turned around.
Although age had left marks on the elder’s face, her eyes remained clear and bright, her spirit far exceeding that of ordinary elderly folks.
Had it not been mentioned by Irida beforehand, Ash might have only considered her a sixty-year-old elder despite Xipu’s ninety-nine years.
"Who are you and why have you come to the Solaceon Ruins?"
Cynthia stepped forward with a polite smile on her face.
"Are you Warden Calaba? I’m Cynthia, and this is my brother Ash."
"We have accepted the commission from Captain Irida and Leader Adaman to investigate the recent disturbances surrounding Ursaluna."
Upon hearing their names, Calaba’s initially calm expression quickly turned cold.
"Are you the ones Team Galactic sent to pacify the Kleavor disturbance?"
"Yes, we are." Cynthia nodded lightly, "The abnormal power affecting Kleavor has been removed, and He has now returned to normal."
"Hmph."
Calaba directly turned around, looking back at the ancient Plate on the wall.
"Since you’ve already fulfilled Team Galactic’s task, go back to Jubilife Village to claim your reward."
"There’s no need for your involvement in the Ursaluna matter."
Ash and Cynthia exchanged a glance.
Before coming here, Irida had mentioned that Calaba harbored a strong distrust towards Team Galactic and outsiders.
Yet, they didn’t expect Calaba wouldn’t even pose questions regarding the specific events and outright reject their help.
"Grandma Calaba." Ash stepped forward, "Ursaluna is currently in a frenzied state."
"Continuing the delay will only hurt Him, we’re merely looking to help Him restore normalcy."
"Help?"
Calaba’s cold voice echoed within the ruins.
"Your talk of help refers to commanding Pokemon to gang up on Them, relying on sheer power to take Them down?"
Ash’s brows slightly furrowed — this person’s words... were really quite unpleasant.
"After being affected by the Golden Thunderbolt, Kleavor lost the ability for normal communication."
