Chapter 325: Whereabouts sort-of-known
“You were so romantic back then,” The Spear sighed, batting her eyes at the Architect, who rolled his eyes. “Taking me on a date to nowhere after blowing me up.”
“You were fine,” The Architect countered before glancing at the young immortal. “What, no thoughts? Usually you have plenty by this point.”
“No,” The young immortal shook his head. “I was just more curious about what happened to you two. Physically entering a conceptual Mind Palace, as you did, is something usually done only after building up to it over thousands of years and reaching the tier twenties. I still have only briefly touched upon physically entering my Mind Palace once, and I generally consider myself gifted for my generation.”
The young immortal waved about, given the entire story time was a reward for winning the most recent Grand Ascension tournament, a step up from the regular Ascension tournaments; the competition had been far from lacking.
“Well, yes, you do have some promise,” The Architect nodded. “How far that takes you into the future will be your question to answer. Actually, I could give you a good idea, but where is the fun in that?” The Architect winked before the Spear sighed dramatically.
“The question of where we ended up is a rather good question,” She spoke on the Architect’s behalf, who was still enjoying playing his games, given either of them could easily divine much of the young immortal’s future without even sparing a tiny bit of effort. “So, why don’t you stop playing all coy and funny, and get back to the point of this all?”

The Architect looked offended for a moment before shrugging.
“Right, story time. Where was I? Oh right, with whereabouts sort-of known…”
“Rory,” Allison glanced around. “Where the hell are we?”
“You know what, that’s a really good question,” Rory answered as he took in the scenery. “I have no idea.”
One moment they were blowing themselves up in the center of a super explosion to take out the monstrous Phosphorous the Light Bringer; the next, they were somewhere.
“At the very least, we aren’t dead,” Rory said after a moment. “I think.”
They were in what looked like a cosmic nebula, everything obscured in slightly reddish-copper space dust, floating through the not-darkness upon a cracked white block of marble within a backdrop of slightly off-purple… stuff that shone like an oil spill.
Oh, and every few seconds things would simply appear or disappear at random, like they were in the ADHD brain of an exceptionally erratic child.
“Oh!” Rory suddenly realized.
“What?” Allison asked, looking mildly confused.
“I think I figured out where we are.”
“And?”
Looking around once more, Rory sat on his thoughts a moment longer, considering them for just a beat longer to ensure he wasn’t speaking wildly.
“I think we’re in the remaining information decay of our old universe, mushed and mashed together in a spongy-soup of potential.”
Allison stared at him for a second before sighing.
“English?”
“I think we’re in what’s left of the Cognition realm.”
