Chapter 844: Subduing
Yang Qi remained motionless, seemingly already deep in sleep.
The woman revealed a sinister smile, chilling and cold: "Hehe, this Yang Qi, despite how the Wu Family praised his prowess, turned out to be quite ordinary. Just a bit of sedative, and he’s immediately knocked out.
Killing you this way is somewhat unfortunate, as you’re quite handsome.
But to complete the mission, I must send you on your way.
Rest assured, I’ll make it painless, you won’t feel a thing!"
Thinking to herself, a dagger appeared in her hand, one she had hidden within her sleeve all along. As it slipped, it glinted with a chilling light.
It was frightening to see.
"Die!"
The woman acted decisively, aiming directly at Yang Qi’s throat, the weakest spot, easiest to target.
Yet in that instant, a hand suddenly emerged from the water, grabbing the woman’s wrist like a vice, trapping her helplessly.
It happened so fast!
The woman didn’t even have time to react, trained though she was as an assassin, ranked among the top thirty on the Martial Arts Overlord List, she had blundered.
Yet, why was he not affected by the sedative?
How could he maintain consciousness in this situation?
It was too uncanny!
"Hehe, miss, you’ve come to the wrong place. This is a men’s hot spring."
Yang Qi sneered, looking at the woman: "Though quite beautiful, why pursue such a path, killing is not a pleasant business."
"Die!"
Terror shone in the woman’s eyes; her dagger fell, she grabbed it with her other hand, once again thrusting it towards Yang Qi’s heart.
But once more, Yang Qi seized her left hand.
The dagger fell into the pool.
However, an assassin is an assassin, even now, she managed to act.
The dagger, clamped between her toes, she leapt up, aiming to stab Yang Qi again.
"Impressive, to still move under these circumstances. Anyone else might have been finished by you. Sadly, you encountered me, no assassin can escape now."
Yang Qi reacted swiftly, suddenly applying force with both hands, sending the woman flying.
She hit the ground hard.
The woman groaned but quickly stood up, extracting hidden weapons from her clothes, firing at Yang Qi.
Yang Qi chuckled, lightly flicking water droplets.
These droplets were as sharp as hidden weapons.
No, sharper than hidden weapons.
They knocked away all the woman’s hidden weapons.
Several water droplets struck the woman; although she blocked most of the damage, she was still injured.
Seizing the opportunity, Yang Qi wrapped himself in clothes and exited the spring.
He abruptly appeared in front of the woman, grabbing her throat, pinning her to the ground, and punched her Dantian area.
Destroying her martial arts.
This woman was truly strong.
Regrettably, she was overconfident, consequently hit repeatedly by Yang Qi, ultimately having her martial arts destroyed, leaving her powerless to resist.
The woman tried to bite through a poison pouch for suicide but was smacked unconscious by Yang Qi.
"Sigh, can’t even enjoy a peaceful hot spring soak!"
Yang Qi shook his head, continued soaking, and then made a call, summoning Wolf King.
As Wolf King arrived with people at the hot spring, they found a person lying on the ground.
"Take her back, interrogate thoroughly, remember this person is a professional assassin, be wary of suicide attempts, and determine if she has accomplices!"
Yang Qi instructed.
Wolf King smiled wryly: "Boss, you’re ruthless enough to handle such a pretty woman, in my place, I’d surely fall for the trap."
"The prettier the woman, the more dangerous she is, unless you truly know her."
Yang Qi shook his head: "Alright, take her away."
"Yes!"
Wolf King nodded.
"Wait!"
Wolf King was about to leave, but Yang Qi called out: "Instruct Huang Borren to conduct a secret investigation, focusing on people resembling this woman."
"Does Boss suspect the woman has accomplices? But why might they look alike?"
Wolf King asked, puzzled.
Yang Qi replied: "I heard Huang Borren mention the Twin Stars, said to possess some Clone Technique, yet in my view, it’s not a Clone Technique, most likely twins.
Thus, they’re referenced as Twin Stars.
Proceed with both tasks.
Huang Borren investigates secretly, while you interrogate this woman thoroughly; I want her to confess who spent such a hefty sum to kill me."
Though Yang Qi merely deduced the possibility of a second person.
Even the slightest chance must not be overlooked, lest one falls into a trap, leading to heartbreaking regret.
The Blood Lotus Sect is more mysterious than imagined.
After all, even the King of Extreme Poison, the venomous spider, is a member, and evidently beneath the Sect Master, hence the Blood Lotus Sect requires attention.
"Does Boss suspect anyone?"
Wolf King asked.
"The Wu Family!"
Yang Qi contemplated: "Aside from the Wu Family, none would be so keen to kill me, nor spend so much money.
Martial Alliance operatives would come themselves!
The Gu King wouldn’t hire assassins.
Only the Wu Family, believing I am merely the disciple of the Star Shining Society’s boss, thus unwilling to act directly, fearing my supposed master’s wrath.
Unbeknownst to them, I have no master, the Star Shining Society’s boss is me!"
"The Wu Family? Hmph! They truly think our Star Shining Society won’t retaliate against them?" Wolf King coldly remarked: "Boss, just give the word, I’ll ensure eradicating the Wu Family!"
He truly was angered; the Wu Family continuously troubled them, this time even sending such terrifying assassins.
If not for Yang Qi, anyone else would likely have perished.
"No need!"
Yang Qi chuckled: "Soon, there’s a grand show to behold, without the Wu Family, it’d be dull. Besides, I suspect the Wu Family holds clues about my foster mother’s situation.
I’ll settle this debt personally, rest assured!
For now, handle the Twin Stars affair, and test our Star Shining Society’s intelligence system’s effectiveness, whether catching the other one is possible."
"Understood, Boss."
Wolf King nodded.
"Hmm, after all, I can’t stay in Thunder City forever, after I leave, you all must learn to protect yourselves, this time Twin Stars infiltrated Thunder City, Huang Borren uncovered it first but failed to capture them, not performing well enough.
Thus, address the gaps.
Identify weaknesses, ensure prompt remedies.
Alright, off you go, I’ll soak a bit longer!"
Yang Qi waved.
"Yes!"
Wolf King waved, leading everyone, binding the Twin Star assassin as they departed.
Yang Qi closed his eyes again; during the skirmish, he noted how much stronger he had become, a thirty-ranked Martial Arts Overlord was powerless before him.
