Chapter 769 Where is the Face of the Heavenly God Sect!
"This guy is a complete lunatic!"
The people from Sea City stared, dumbfounded, at the golden longsword in Yang Qi’s hand. Its tip had already pierced Wei Ying’s Dantian. With a simple surge of True Qi, Wei Ying would be crippled.
Good heavens. Facing an Overlord Peak, Yang Qi didn’t even blink an eye. He actually dared to strike—his audacity was staggering.
"You little punk, I don’t believe you have the guts to do it!" Jiang Ran said coldly. "Do you have any idea who he is? He’s an outer disciple of the number one Hidden Sect, the Heavenly God Sect. No one in this world has ever dared to cripple a disciple of our sect, especially not in front of me."
At that moment, Jiang Ran was still as arrogant as ever. Though momentarily stunned, he quickly recovered his haughty demeanor. He was, after all, one of the most prominent figures among the Heavenly God Sect’s outer disciples. Why would he fear anyone?
But unfortunately for him, even upon hearing the name ’Heavenly God Sect,’ Yang Qi’s expression remained calm; he didn’t even flinch.
"Is that so? Then I’d be honored. I’ll be the first person to ever cripple a disciple of the Heavenly God Sect," Yang Qi said calmly.
Although he didn’t want to offend the Heavenly God Sect, as long as he killed everyone here to silence them, the sect would never find out. What was there to fear?
"Heh, you are fortunate indeed. Your foolishness will be the very thing that leads to your demise. You will be the first person I’ve killed since coming down from the mountain," Jiang Ran said, his voice cold and mocking. He looked at Yang Qi as if he were an ignorant parrot, one that couldn’t comprehend the meaning of its own words.
"You’re bold, I’ll give you that," Yang Qi laughed. "It seems you don’t care one bit whether Wei Ying lives or dies. Don’t forget, this boy is at my mercy. By threatening me like this, aren’t you afraid I’ll cripple him right now?"
With just a slight movement, he could instantly destroy Wei Ying’s Dantian, turning him into a complete cripple. Although Jiang Ran was powerful, Yang Qi was absolutely confident he could cripple Wei Ying before Jiang Ran could intervene.
"You wouldn’t dare," Jiang Ran repeated. "If you do, not one of your friends, your family, or your women will live. I guarantee it!"
Jiang Ran’s words sparked a terrifying killing intent in Yang Qi’s eyes. If he crippled Wei Ying, Jiang Ran would slaughter everyone he cared about.
"Heh, I’m so scared," Yang Qi said with a smile. "So let me ask, what happens if I let Wei Ying go?"
"Let him go, and I’ll only kill you. Cripple him, and everyone you care about will be buried with him," Jiang Ran stated coldly.
"Heh, so from the sound of it, I’m doomed to die today no matter what?" Yang Qi laughed.
"That’s right. You are doomed to die. From the moment you dared to strike a disciple of the Heavenly God Sect, your fate was sealed," Jiang Ran said with utter certainty. He couldn’t possibly let Yang Qi live; to do so would be a disgrace to the Heavenly God Sect.
"Heh, if I were Wei Ying, I’d certainly thank you," Yang Qi chuckled softly. "By your logic, I’m going to die today whether I cripple him or not. So tell me, why shouldn’t I? If you’d given me an out, we could have talked this over, and I might have shown the Heavenly God Sect some respect. But you’ve backed me into a corner. And in doing so, you’ve left Wei Ying with no escape route either."
Jiang Ran’s brow furrowed. "Think carefully. Your one life, or the lives of everyone you care about. What’s your choice?"
"Heh, you think far too highly of yourself," Yang Qi scoffed. "This is my territory. If I kill everyone here, do you really think the Heavenly God Sect will ever find out?"
"You’re insane! You actually think you can kill me?" Jiang Ran said scornfully.
"Whether I can or not, I have to try! You’ve left me no other choice. You blocked my path of retreat, so my only option is to burn my bridges," Yang Qi sneered. "Wei Ying, I was only going to cripple you. But unfortunately, someone here is demanding your death, so I suppose I have to send you on your way. When you get to hell, remember Jiang Ran. He deserves a great deal of credit for getting you killed."
At these words, a shiver ran down everyone’s spine. Yang Qi was going to kill Wei Ying! His original intent was only to cripple him, but now he was going for the kill.
"Senior Brother, save me!" Wei Ying shrieked in terror. He had brought Jiang Ran here to help him, but now his senior brother was shoving him into the abyss of death.
"How dare you!" Jiang Ran roared, his furious aura blasting toward Yang Qi. However, it was intercepted by the combined efforts of Master Yi Yang and Master Wang.
"Oh, I really am being insolent today," Yang Qi said with disdain. "You haven’t just doomed Wei Ying; you’ve doomed yourself. To prevent the Heavenly God Sect from retaliating, I have no choice but to kill you to ensure your silence."
With that, the golden sword plunged into Wei Ying’s Dantian. A terrifying Sword Qi ravaged his body from within.
"NO—!"
Feeling the excruciating pain, Wei Ying let out a final, desperate scream. It was useless. The moment his scream faded, his life came to an end.
Wei Ying was dead.
Yang Qi had actually killed him. Backed into a corner by Jiang Ran, he had chosen the most insane path possible.
Chen He was stunned. Chu Renxiong was stunned. Zheng Bunai was stunned. Even Jiang Ran stood frozen on the spot.
He couldn’t understand what he had done wrong. His eyes filled with anger, along with intense confusion and embarrassment.
Wei Ying—number one on Sea City’s Hidden Dragon List and an outer disciple of the Heavenly God Sect—had a brilliant future ahead of him. But he had the misfortune of offending Yang Qi and having an idiotic senior brother. And so, he paid with his life—a lamentable and tragic end.
Jiang Ran stared daggers at Yang Qi. Just a moment ago, he had been certain that Yang Qi wouldn’t dare to act. They were from the Heavenly God Sect; no matter how bold he was, he wouldn’t dare offend them. But the facts proved him wrong. Terribly wrong.
Yang Qi’s audacity was far greater than he had imagined. The deterrent power of the Heavenly God Sect wasn’t nearly as absolute as he’d believed.
Now, he had been made into a clown. He thought that by backing Yang Qi into a corner, the man would submit. He never imagined that a cornered rabbit will bite, let alone a cultivator pushed to the brink—he will only retaliate with frenzied desperation.
Though Wei Ying’s death meant little to him, Jiang Ran still felt utterly humiliated. He hadn’t just lost face; he had disgraced the Heavenly God Sect. If word of this got back to the sect, he would surely face dire consequences.
At this thought, his killing intent erupted like heavenly fire, surging toward Yang Qi as if to incinerate him on the spot.
If Yang Qi didn’t die, what would become of his honor? What would become of the Heavenly God Sect’s honor?
Sensing the powerful aura radiating from Jiang Ran, Yang Qi stood his ground, his eyes filled with nothing but scorn.
"I don’t know what you’re so angry about," Yang Qi mocked. "Isn’t this the outcome you wanted?"
