Chapter 766: Became a Cripple!
"So you’re Yang Qi, are you? You’re quite bold to act so insolently in my presence. Today, I’m going to teach you a lesson." Wei Ying’s expression was grim. He was losing face. By all rights, these people should have surrendered the moment he arrived, kneeling and begging for mercy. Yet, Yang Qi didn’t seem to take him seriously at all, showing him no respect whatsoever. This made him furious.
Yang Qi glanced indifferently at Wei Ying. "I’ve met many people like you, who think a little bit of background allows them to disregard everyone else.
"This whole affair was the Hidden Dragon Club’s fault from the start. There are rules in the Jianghu: grudges from the Forbidden Land are never to be brought out into the open. Yet, Zheng Bunai gathered all those people and came to Thunder City to settle the score with me, even intending to kill me. He went so far as to injure an innocent nurse.
"What’s wrong with me making him kneel? Not killing him was already an act of mercy. Now you show up and kill Immortal Yiyang’s pet, which is even more despicable. Since you refuse to be reasonable, let’s fight. Stop posturing without acting, like the man who professed his love for dragons only to flee at the sight of a real one."
Yang Qi stood there like an unsheathed sword, his aura so razor-sharp that it actually made Wei Ying hesitate for a moment.
"Boss, there’s no need for you to act," a man said, stepping forward. "I hear this kid is good with a sword, and as it happens, so am I. Let me take one of his arms as punishment."
The speaker was Chen He, who carried himself with an air he believed to be both carefree and confident. This is my chance to impress Wei Ying. If I can take care of Yang Qi, then after Wei Ying leaves for the Heavenly God Sect, I’ll be able to take control of the entire Hidden Dragon Club. This is a golden opportunity!
Wei Ying glanced at Chen He and nodded. "Alright, but don’t kill him. I still want him to atone for his sins before Zheng Bunai and Feng Wencai. Just cripple him for now."
"No problem!" Chen He smiled, his longsword sliding from its sheath as his gaze turned sharp.
He wore a flashy suit worth hundreds of thousands, if not millions. The hilt of his longsword was even studded with diamonds, making it look incredibly ostentatious. "Where is your sword?" Chen He asked Yang Qi.
"To deal with you, I have no need for one," Yang Qi replied with contempt.
"Good. Very good. Since you’re so eager to die, I’ll oblige you. Remember, the man who cripples you is Chen He, also known as the Diamond Sword!" Chen He said arrogantly. He then lunged forward, his longsword twirling in a flourish that erupted in a brilliant, blinding light. The gleam of the sword locked onto Yang Qi, who seemed to have no way to escape.
"Hmph, that kid is so arrogant. He won’t be able to block Chen He’s attack if he’s not careful," Chu Renxiong sneered.
"Chen He, don’t kill him! That would be letting him off too easy! I want him to watch his friends, his family, and his women die before his very eyes! HAHAHAHA!" Zheng Bunai roared, his face twisting into a ferocious mask.
Yet Yang Qi remained perfectly still, his expression as placid as an ancient well. He simply lifted his right hand, extended a single finger, and drew an arc through the empty air. He was using his finger as a sword! A flash of light sparked into existence and vanished in an instant.
In the next moment, Chen He let out a bloodcurdling scream. The arm that held his sword was severed, spraying blood everywhere as the diamond-studded weapon clattered to the ground. The men from Sea City froze, stunned by the sight. A moment later, their hearts began to pound with terror.
They hadn’t even seen what Yang Qi did. He had been standing there the whole time, and with a casual lift of his hand, Chen He was screaming in agony. His methods were terrifying.
"Heh, the Diamond Sword?" Yang Qi looked disdainfully at Chen He, who was now kneeling on the ground. "You think you’re worthy of wielding a sword? Worthy of using such a gaudy weapon? How laughable."
Chen He, already in excruciating pain, was so enraged by the taunt that he nearly choked on his own blood.
Wei Ying’s expression darkened. I underestimated this Yang Qi.
After all, Chen He was a Fourth Rank Overlord with extremely strong swordsmanship. To be told he wasn’t worthy of using a sword... the humiliation was immense. But this Yang Qi fellow was truly formidable. He had severed Chen He’s arm with a single flicker of light. Furthermore, that light hadn’t come from a sword; it wasn’t even the technique of Condensing Qi into Soldiers. It was nothing more than a casual swipe of a finger through the air. In an instant, Chen He’s ornate Sword Skills had been reduced to a joke, and his title of Diamond Sword became a mockery of his flashy style. Before Yang Qi, Chen He truly was unqualified to use a sword. He never should have drawn his weapon. If he hadn’t, he might still have his arm.
"What right do you have to say I’m not fit to use a sword? What do you know?! I started learning the sword at three years old! By sixteen, I could kill with it! Now, I am a Fourth Rank Overlord! On what grounds do you say I’m unfit to wield a sword!" Chen He roared at Yang Qi. Even as blood gushed from his arm, his heart burned with defiance. He could accept being called weak, but not that he was unworthy of his blade.
"The way of the sword belongs to gentlemen! Yet you, with your filthy mind and wicked deeds, take pleasure in killing. How absurd. The sword in your hand is nothing more than a piece of scrap metal. A true Swordsman needs no blade in his hand to be invincible." Yang Qi stared at Chen He with disdain as he shared his understanding of the Sword Dao. Whether others agreed or not, this was his conviction.
"Nonsense! You dared to sever my arm? You’re a dead man! Your life is over! We’ll see just what makes a ’true Swordsman’ like you so special and what gives you the right to be so arrogant before me!" Chen He bellowed.
"Heh, sever your arm? That was just a lesson." Yang Qi smiled at Chen He. "It’s not too late for you to beg for mercy, yet you dare to threaten me? Since that’s the case, I’ll just have to cripple you completely."
As he spoke, Yang Qi’s finger suddenly jabbed into Chen He’s Dantian. Chen He tried to stop him but was utterly powerless. A terrifying surge of energy destroyed the very foundation of his Dantian. He was crippled. From this day forward, he would be nothing more than an ordinary person, stripped of his ability to ever practice Cultivation again.
"You! You dare! How could you dare?!" Chen He never imagined Yang Qi would actually cripple him, not in front of so many people. His eyes were wide with disbelief. He was one of the top three on Sea City’s Hidden Dragon List, the Prince Charming that countless women dreamed of marrying. Now, he was a cripple. A worthless cripple! It was a fate worse than death.
Being crippled meant he could never become the Chen Family’s Family Head; he had lost his right as heir. The reality was that cruel.
"AAAAAH—!"
A harrowing scream tore from his throat again, but this time it was not born of pain. It was a shriek of pure, horrified denial—the sound of his terror for the Destiny that now awaited him.
"You... deserve to die!" Wei Ying’s gaze was fixed on Yang Qi. Yang Qi hadn’t just humiliated the members of the Hidden Dragon Club; he had crippled Chen He right in front of him. It was a direct slap to Wei Ying’s face. There was no way he could let this go.
