Chapter 746 Greedy Guys
"Thinking of leaving? And letting you inform the others?" Zheng Busu sneered.
"Are you insane? We were already leaving, and you still want to kill us?" the Martial Artists from the Western Territory retorted angrily.
"You have two options," Zheng Busu said coldly. "Either you surrender quietly and stay here until we’re done collecting the Spiritual Spring, after which you can go, or you can all die here."
"Dream on! We Martial Artists of the Western Territory will never let you capture us. Everyone, break out!"
The ten furious Martial Artists from the Western Territory were not ordinary people. They were all accomplished fighters and prodigies of their generation, each under thirty years old. Each one possessed immense pride, making it impossible for them to surrender so meekly. Who knew if their captors would simply kill them all after tying them up? By then, it would be too late for regrets.
"Then die!" Zheng Busu sneered and attacked again.
The ten Martial Artists from the Western Territory joined forces, but they were still no match for him. Barely ten minutes later, one of them was killed.
"Bastard!" Outside, the leader of the organization from the Western Territory was furious. "The Zheng Family of Sea City is too domineering! They’re actually killing people!"
"Heh, what’s there to be angry about?" the Zheng Family leader retorted sarcastically. "That place is a Forbidden Land. Inside a Forbidden Land, killing is inconsequential. If you were afraid of death, you shouldn’t have let them go in the first place."
"You!" The leader from the Western Territory was livid, but the Zheng Family leader wasn’t wrong. The Forbidden Land was different from the outside world, where laws still held sway. Inside the Forbidden Land, combat power was all that mattered.
As they spoke, another Martial Artist from the Western Territory’s organization was killed, leaving only eight.
"Run! Don’t just stand there fighting like fools!" the people watching from outside yelled anxiously. If they couldn’t win, surely they could at least split up and run?
As if hearing their leader’s shouts, the Martial Artists from the Western Territory finally realized they needed to escape. They hadn’t fled initially out of reluctance to abandon the Spiritual Spring, hoping their ten-to-one advantage would work. The outcome, however, had been disastrous. Now that they were outmatched, running was their only option. If they didn’t, their entire team would be annihilated.
"Thinking of running now? It’s too late." Zheng Busu unleashed his full combat power, his advantage overwhelming.
One by one, the young Martial Artists of the Western Territory were slain. The scene was infuriating to watch. Zheng Busu was too strong, and his speed was terrifyingly fast. Moments later, only one of the ten members from the Western Territory remained. He had already lost his will to fight and lay collapsed on the ground, his face a mask of pure terror.
"Zheng Family of Sea City, this isn’t over!" the leader outside roared, watching his people get slaughtered one by one, completely powerless to intervene. He could only stare in helpless rage.
"Heh, you’re just sore losers," the Zheng Family leader taunted. "Everyone understood the risks before entering the Forbidden Land. You must always be prepared to be killed. If you don’t have that mental fortitude, what’s the point of participating? You might as well stay home and babysit."
"That’s enough," the War God King said with a frown. "I will remind you all not to bring grudges from the Forbidden Land into the outside world. Since you were prepared to enter, you must also accept the possibility of being killed."
Although everyone understood this principle, how could they not feel rage seeing their own people being killed?
Just then, the situation on the screen suddenly changed. The Zheng Family Martial Artist collecting the Spiritual Spring was instantly slain by a flash of Sword Radiance. The attack came so abruptly that the man had no time to react and died on the spot. The Spiritual Spring he had just collected spilled out, flowing back into the spring.
"Who was that?" Enraged, Zheng Busu forgot about the last survivor from the Western Territory and glared furiously in the direction the Sword Radiance had come from.
A figure appeared, a Golden Silk Big Ring Saber slung over his shoulder.
"Hahaha, it’s our Martial Arts genius from the Western Territory, Liu Heita!" The Western Territory’s leader, who had been on the verge of despair, lit up with joyful surprise at the sight of the young man with the saber. "A beautiful kill! Let the Zheng Family of Sea City understand that our Martial Artists from the Western Territory are not to be trifled with!"
The expression of the Zheng Family’s leader, however, turned grim. Those who had entered were the future of the Zheng Family. They were all geniuses from Sea City’s Hidden Dragon List; the death of even one was a heart-wrenching loss.
"Liu Heita!" Zheng Busu stared coldly at the young man in the distance, his eyes filled with deep apprehension. Liu Heita was rumored to be the son of the Sword King of the Northwest. His Sword Skill was said to be incomparably ferocious.
Liu Heita looked back at Zheng Busu, his voice dripping with ice. "Are you ready to die? You killed so many of our Western Territory Martial Artists. I will have you pay that blood debt with your own. This is the perfect place to do it."
A terrifying aura erupted from Liu Heita. He was a Third Rank Overlord! To reach such a Realm at his age made him an undisputed top-tier genius. Even the number one expert on the Hidden Dragon List of Sea City was likely only at this level.
Zheng Busu, a mere First Rank Overlord, was definitely no match for Liu Heita. His expression turned utterly grim.
"Run!" Without a second thought, Zheng Busu roared and fled, abandoning his own family members. He already had some distance from Liu Heita and instantly darted into the dense forest. It was unlikely Liu Heita could catch him.
Seeing Zheng Busu escape, the other members of the Zheng Family had no intention of sticking around and also tried to flee. However, Liu Heita was ruthless, killing anyone he caught. The fleeing Zheng Family Martial Artists, still carrying waterskins, quickly tossed them aside as they were slowing them down. Liu Heita went on a rampage, and in the end, only two others from the Zheng Family survived. Including Zheng Busu, only three made it out alive.
Not a single drop of the Spiritual Spring was taken.
"Damn it! Damn it all!" Outside, the powerhouses of the Zheng Family roared in fury, their eyes red with grief and anger.
It was a blatant double standard. A moment ago, when Zheng Busu was killing the Martial Artists from the Western Territory, they had been delighted, claiming it was just the rules of the game. Now that their own people were being killed, they exploded with outrage.
"Hahaha, serves them right! It truly serves them right! Those bastards from the Zheng Family all deserved to die!" The Western Territory leader laughed heartily. Although they had suffered heavy losses, they had at least gotten their revenge. For them, it was a silver lining in a disastrous situation.
However, their joy was short-lived. The sounds of battle had attracted more people to their location, and there were quite a few of them.
The fleeing Zheng Busu saw this development and stopped, hiding near the Spiritual Spring to watch from the shadows.
The War God King, seeing that a fierce battle was about to erupt, frowned and left the camp. Just then, the image on the screen vanished; the broadcast had been cut.
The War God King had originally intended for everyone to witness the performance of these young talents, but things had gone against his wishes. Instead of joining forces to secure the Spiritual Spring, they had turned on each other and started killing, their greed knowing no bounds. He was utterly disappointed. How could people like this serve the country in the future?
