Chapter 430 430: When You Cry!
"Scram!"
Yang Qi couldn't stomach hearing such words. Zhao Yuman was a very pure girl, and he didn't want this scum of society to corrupt her.
Hearing Yang Qi, the burly men's expressions turned sour.
"Kid, you're really pushing it," one of them sneered. "It's your lucky day that we've taken an interest in your woman. And you have the audacity to tell us to scram? Brothers, did you hear that? This kid told us to get lost."
The man waved over his friends from the other table. The other diners in the hot pot restaurant were terrified. Some ran off without even finishing their food, but they were too curious to leave completely, choosing to watch the commotion from a distance.
The group of burly men stood up and swaggered over. They sized up Yang Qi, noting his fair, clean-cut features and the striking white tracksuit he wore. He looked as immaculate as a spirit untouched by dust, which made them think he would be an easy target.
One of them smirked and said, "Kid, look at you, all skin and bones. We won't bully you. I'll give you two choices. Either you drink this entire pot of boiling soup base in front of everyone, or you let your girl spend the night with us brothers. We guarantee we'll open up a whole new world for her."
They failed to notice that an icy chill had already crept onto Yang Qi's fair face.
He calmly ate a slice of lamb before speaking. "I'll give you a chance, too. Each of you drinks a pot of soup base—there's plenty to go around. Then, you disappear from my sight. Otherwise, you'll face consequences you can't possibly bear."
The men stared blankly for a second before bursting into loud laughter.
"HAHAHA! What's with the big talk, brat? Did you eat garlic for breakfast? What gives you so much confidence?"
Yang Qi continued to eat, unperturbed. "People who are too arrogant often pick a fight with the wrong person. Haven't you ever heard that a careless mouth invites disaster? Just do as I say. It's your only chance."
"Son of a bitch, I think you're courting death! Brothers, let's stop wasting words on this pretty boy. Beat him to a pulp!" one of the thugs roared.
With that, all four or five of them charged at Yang Qi.
"Miss Zhao, close your eyes!" Yang Qi said gently.
"Okay!" Zhao Yuman squeezed her eyes shut.
The next moment, Yang Qi lightly tapped the table. The scalding red oil from the hot pot shot out as five sharp, crimson beams, striking each of the five men.
"ARGH—my eyes! My eyes, I can't see!"
"It hurts so much!"
"Damn it!"
"It really hurts!"
"Help me!"
The five men collapsed, clutching their eyes and howling in agony. Although they weren't seriously injured, the pain in their eyes was excruciating. The searing sensation was more than enough punishment for them.
"Stop your howling," Yang Qi said indifferently. "Hurry and wash your eyes with clean water. You might still be able to save them."
"Kid, you just wait! If you've got any guts, you won't go anywhere! We're from the Brotherhood! You're done for after messing with us!" the men yelled as they scrambled toward the restrooms.
"The Brotherhood, is it? You'd better hurry back. I might be gone after I finish my meal," Yang Qi said with a smile.
Perfect. The Heavenly Supervision Hall recently launched a 'rat extermination' campaign. The Brotherhood has been keeping a low profile, so it's been hard to find a pretext to move against them. This is the perfect opportunity to wipe them out in one go. It's like taking out the trash for the public good.
"Young man, young lady, you should leave, quickly," the restaurant owner said, rushing over. "Those guys from the Brotherhood are bad news. They used to follow Xiong Ba, but when he turned over a new leaf, they couldn't stand his new rules and struck out on their own. They have a terrible reputation around here. They're all ruthless, and no one dares to cross them. Our restaurant has to pay them protection money every month, or they'll force us to shut down. You're still young, just run. Otherwise, you'll be in deep trouble."
"Don't worry, boss. For this bunch, today is their last day," Yang Qi said, then glanced at Zhao Yuman. "Here's your chance to be a hero. Call your dad and have him send people over to take down this Brotherhood. There's no use keeping social scum like them around."
"Young man, who exactly are you?" The owner wasn't a fool. Hearing the confidence in their tone, he knew they weren't ordinary people.
"You don't need to worry about who I am," Yang Qi said with a smile. "This Miss Zhao, however, is no ordinary person. Rest assured, she can handle this. After today, you won't have to suffer their bullying anymore."
The owner was speechless and could only retreat to the side.
Zhao Yuman took out her phone and called Zhao Xiong. "Dad, Brother Yang and I are eating at the XX Hot Pot Restaurant. There's this gang here, the Brotherhood. They claim to have hundreds of members, and they spend their time bullying ordinary people. They tried to take advantage of me and even wanted to beat up Brother Yang. You have to come quickly! If you don't, we're going to be in big trouble!"
Zhao Xiong gave a wry smile. How could they possibly be in trouble with Yang Qi there? However, since Zhao Yuman is making this call, it must mean Yang Qi doesn't want to personally intervene. Ultimately, this is a matter for the City Lord Mansion and the Heavenly Supervision Hall to handle.
He immediately gave the order: "Have Lin Weidong take his men to the hot pot restaurant. No, wait. I'll go myself. Bring more people."
"It's okay, boss," Zhao Yuman said with a smile. "My dad is on his way. This gang is finished. You'll be able to run your business in peace from now on."
The owner remained skeptical. He wasn't stupid; he could tell from their conversation that they were extraordinary. But he also worried they were just reckless youths. If they couldn't handle it and his shop got smashed up in the process, he'd be the one left to cry.
"I know what you're thinking," Yang Qi said with a smile, seeming to read the owner's mind. "Don't worry, everything she said is true. Her father is a very powerful man."
The owner gave a bitter smile and sighed. He had no choice but to gamble. He didn't dare ask them to leave, as he couldn't afford to offend either side. All he could do was wait for fate to deliver its verdict.
This was often the fate of common folk—humble and helpless.
In the past, I would have been powerless in a situation like this. But now that I've begun my journey of Immortal Cultivation... while I have no desire to be some paragon of justice, I know what it's like to suffer. I sympathize with these ordinary people. If I can do what I can to help while ensuring my own safety, it's not such a bad thing.
Having made the call, Zhao Yuman went back to eating. She had to admit, the food at this hot pot restaurant was delicious. Even an Immortal Cultivator like Yang Qi found the taste exceptional.
About twenty minutes later, the thugs emerged from the restroom. They had mostly washed the burning oil from their eyes, but they were still blinking constantly, their eyes watering.
"Don't cry now," Yang Qi grinned. "You'll have plenty of reason to cry later."
The thugs were about to retort when several cars screeched to a halt outside the restaurant. The lead vehicle was a domineering SUV, followed by a convoy of Toyota Alphards, blocking the street.
From that domineering SUV, a bald man with tattoos covering his head stepped out. He looked ferocious.
