Chapter 398 - 400: Wishing One Person to Destroy Their Country [3/7]
"Dad, don’t let him get away!" the little girl cried out nervously, her voice high-pitched and childlike.
Wu Tian’s eyes narrowed slightly. "Don’t worry. In my presence, no one is favored by the Goddess of Fortune. No one can escape."
"Okay." The little girl trusted her father and gave a sweet hum of agreement.
The leader of the mercenaries also tried to jump out of the window, but in the blink of an eye, the old man shoved him aside. "Go to hell, you idiot!"
The old man was incredibly fast; no sprint champion, not even a cheetah, could match his explosive burst of speed. He had already smashed through the wooden window frame and leaped outside, a cold sneer on his face. "Too late, you’re too late... We’ll meet again, Martial Emperor of the Dragon Country."
"Meet again?" Wu Tian scoffed. He simply stretched out his hand and gave a sharp pull.
The old man, who had already jumped from the window and was falling from the hundredth floor, suddenly froze in mid-air. Then, a powerful suction force yanked him back inside.
"No!" the old man shrieked, his face a mask of mortal terror. But he was powerless. He was dragged back in and slammed violently against the wall, which cracked on impact. The old man was instantly covered in gruesome wounds and dripping with blood.
"You..." His voice was anguished, yet firm. "No matter how you torture me, I... I will never reveal the mastermind’s identity!" He had never imagined the Dragon Country’s Martial Emperor could be so formidable. Even now, he couldn’t comprehend how he had been pulled back.
"Speak!" Wu Tian ordered with a cold smile. His chilling voice echoed as he strode forward, grabbed the old man’s head, and savagely lifted him.
"Ah!" The brutal display made the old man’s scalp crawl with terror, and cold sweat drenched his body.
Wu Tian then smashed the old man’s head into the floor.
BANG!
His head cracked open on the ground as intense pain overwhelmed every nerve.
This man is a devil! An absolute devil! He’s no righteous hero! A righteous man would never torture someone for a confession!
Wu Tian gripped the old man’s head again, preparing to smash it against another wall. At that moment, the old man’s expression changed drastically.
"No, no, no! I’ll talk! I’ll tell you everything!" he screamed in a panic. "The mastermind... it’s obvious who it is! It’s the United States of America!"
Wu Tian’s eyes narrowed. Among the world’s great powers, the United States of America was always the first suspect. It was often said that the nation excelled in all fields but one: soccer. In that regard, they were on par with the Dragon Country, a notable flaw in their otherwise dominant profile. But in all other aspects, the United States of America was unquestionably the world’s number one nation.
"You’re lying!" the little girl suddenly shouted at the old man.
Wu Tian glanced at his daughter.
The little girl huffed. "Dad, I don’t think the United States of America did this. I have a feeling the one behind all this is the Fusang Empire."
This statement made the old man’s face drain of color.
"No! What nonsense are you spouting? What does this have to do with Fusang?" he yelled. He turned back to Wu Tian. "Listen to my accent! This is how people from America sound when they speak the Dragon Country’s language, right? I have nothing to do with Fusang!"
The little girl giggled. "Dad, who do you believe? Me or him?"
Without another word, Wu Tian looked at the old man and said, "Very well. You can die now."
Wu Tian trusted his daughter completely.
The old man hadn’t expected this at all. He glanced at the little girl with dread. Suddenly, he realized that the Fusang Chief Minister’s decision to capture this child was a grave mistake. This little girl... she’s not a normal human child!
Wu Tian prepared to strike and kill the old man, but the man clenched his teeth and let out a tragic laugh. "Go on, kill me! Just kill me! That’s all you can do, isn’t it? You know Fusang was behind this, but what can you do to them? No matter how strong you are, you’re just one man, a mere martial artist. Do you really think you can take on an entire country by yourself? That’s right, you can’t! So all you can do is kill me to vent your anger, isn’t that right?"
The little girl looked at Wu Tian. The mercenary leader also looked, only to see that Wu Tian’s expression remained perfectly calm.
The old man gritted his teeth, suddenly pulled out his phone, and dialed the Chief Minister.
"Chief Minister, I’m sorry. The plan has failed, and he knows you instigated all of this."
In Fusang, the Chief Minister was still at the Devotion National Shrine. Hearing this, he asked nervously, "Are there any Dragon Country officials with you?"
"No," the old man said weakly into the phone.
"Good." The Chief Minister’s tone relaxed considerably. "What does it matter if Wu Tian knows? He’s just one man. What can he possibly do to Fusang? The power of one man is insignificant before the might of a nation. Even if he reports Fusang’s plan to his government, we can just claim he’s slandering us. Alright, this matter ends here. As for you... kill yourself."
The Chief Minister hung up. As long as there was no direct conflict with the Dragon Country, he feared nothing.
The old man lowered his phone and stared at Wu Tian with a cold smile. "Did you hear that? The Chief Minister is wary of a war between nations, not of you. What can one person like you do to Fusang? At most, you could come to Fusang and kill a few people. Do you foolishly imagine you can destroy the reign of our nation? Hahaha, impossible! Absolutely impossible! No matter how strong one person is, how can they destroy an entire country?"
Wu Tian’s face remained impassive.
The next moment, the old man bit his tongue, attempting to kill himself. "Great Fusang! May my spirit forever protect you! Long live the great Fusang Empire!"
Wu Tian sneered. How could he let the old man die so easily? He pointed a finger, and a surge of eerie, fluctuating Spiritual Power shot into the man’s body.
"AHHH!" the old man screamed.
He was already dead, but even in death, he would continue to suffer until his very soul disintegrated, inch by agonizing inch.
The mercenary leader clenched his teeth. He didn’t want to die, but he knew there was no escape. "I’ll take you down with me!"
He charged viciously toward Wu Tian.
But he wasn’t even worthy of touching Wu Tian. When he was still a meter away, Wu Tian simply waved his hand. The mercenary leader was sent flying into the wall, leaving a bloody smear on impact.
"Dad, what do we do now?" the little girl asked. After all, their opponent was an entire nation.
Murderous intent flooded Wu Tian’s eyes. "Very well! So this is Fusang! Everyone says your reign is eternal and you believe your destiny is everlasting! In that case, I will sever your reign and extinguish your destiny!"
His eyes were as fierce as those of a Hell Asura.
"Little one, go back and summon Little Phoenix," Wu Tian said, his tone resolute. "And watch as I ride the phoenix to Fusang and annihilate a nation single-handedly!"
