The Cornflower Witch

Book 2: Chapter 179: Maze Trial

Walking through the silent mausoleum, Sylutia could hear the sound of her own footsteps and the faint rustling of her dress.

Her gaze swept around the surroundings. The passageways here were engraved with uniform patterns, the style resembling something from the Eighth Epoch.

Abstract beast-shaped patterns, roughly square in outline, filled the bricks, tightly arranged one after another, repeating endlessly along the passageway with no end in sight.

After walking for a while, a fork appeared ahead of Sylutia. But that wasn't the main point; the important part was the special indicator patterns at the fork.

One side depicted a [Sword], while the other side depicted a [Book].

Was she supposed to choose? Sylutia wondered.

She would choose the [Book] then. She preferred knowledge, and as for the martial power or weaponry symbolized by the sword, after so many years, they might not have been preserved anyway.

Not long after heading down one side, a small room appeared ahead in the passageway. It was similar in size to an enlarged cube. Inside this room was a square stone platform, and on the platform was a sealed, ancient-looking card.

Walking over, Sylutia approached the stone platform and carefully observed this card.
