Journey to Veresavir

Chapter 60

Chapter 60

“My Path just hit the next stage,” Veron said. He could already feel it, though a part of it might’ve been the adrenaline, and the joy of winning this fight, the relief of surviving through it. He felt, it was difficult to describe, stronger, that too, but the word substantial felt like a far better fit. As if he was more grounded, more settled.

He breathed out with a long sigh, then focused back on the now. They were still in the dungeon. Deeper than they had ever been, and they had just fought and killed a necromancer. Not quite a silver tier enemy, but it was close enough.

“The first Adequate in the team,” Isaac said and touched his shoulder, a proud smile on his face. “Congratulations.”

Veron gave him a nod. He felt a few things. Happy mostly, but there was a bittersweet note to it.

“We’ll celebrate when we’re back in the city,” Ailis said. “More importantly right now, it had a relic.”

“Right,” Veron said and nodded. “We should extract first. Elke and Isaac.”

The two nodded and went to the downed skeletons.

“Those were different, weren’t they?” Veron asked. “Controlled by the necromancer. Will they have essence?” He breathed in when the candles seemed a little brighter, the walls visible to him with more detail, and the knowledge that there was more waiting deeper in the dungeon very present in his mind. And then the room returned to silence.
