The next day, they met in the map room. This time, they picked a target hall in the B-tunnel, and then made their way back into the Crypts. It was a slightly cloudy day. The wind was cool in the morning but the sun already peeked through.
It was busy too, lifts going up and down around the pit. There were a few people running after someone, shouting after the supposed thief. Merchants were trying to sell them dubious goods and ointments that would help protect them in the depths.
Veron went to the steel chains and climbed down first again, a torch already burning and connected to his armor, the maneuver eliciting some looks from other adventurers. The climb felt slightly easier than the first time around. The others joined him soon after.
Once in the entrance, the team took a moment to prepare, then got into formation, and went into the dark.
It felt calmer, more focused.
They avoided the big tunnels this time around, coming across more skeletons and rats. Ailis healed the small injuries they incurred.
They talked quietly from time to time, mostly after the fights, and mostly to check in on each other. Veron felt that they were all less tense, more focused on the task, now that they felt a little more comfortable with each other.
They took a break right before they reached their target hall.
