Global Awakening: I'm the Only One Ready

Chapter 249. I, Lu Yuan, Humbly Beseech the Sages of Antiquity! Defend Our Starfield!

Chapter 249. I, Lu Yuan, Humbly Beseech the Sages of Antiquity! Defend Our Starfield!

"What... is that?"

The Yin Sparrow Lesser Sage trembled at the sight. The other Lesser Sages beside him revealed faces of disbelief. None of them had expected Lu Yuan to actually have a way to contend against the Immortals' plan.

When they thought about it, however, they realized that it made sense. After all, if he hadn't had a plan, would he have confidently made his way out of Earth to face them?

Still, they hadn't anticipated that he could accomplish something on this scale.

Of course, even if they knew it, there was nothing they could have done about it. The Jiang Clan's representative stood between them and the moon, ensuring that they wouldn't be able to intervene.

"No need for alarm. This is only the beginning," The Three-Headed Ghost Lesser Sage said, "The Separation of Heaven and Earth is powerful, but it has been a very long time since it was made. Even the work of Immortals cannot resist the erosion of time forever.

"What he's relying on is nothing more than the final vestiges of that power."

The Milky Way Starfield had declined. All it had left was the fading glory of its sages back in ancient times.

"Agreed. We shall wait." A Lesser Sage nodded in agreement.

Meanwhile, Uncle Jiang's eyes lit with a flicker of excitement when he saw what had happened. Lu Yuan had succeeded in activating the contingency plan. As for whether it could truly change the situation and shatter the Immortals' plan, he still couldn't say for sure.

All eyes were fixed on the unfolding spectacle. The twelve Lesser Sages and the beings from the Outer Cosmos couldn't tear their eyes off the scene.

The void trembled as a pillar of light burst out of the moon and connected directly with Earth. Golden runes surged outward in cascading waves, carrying a power of terrifying magnitude.

Thanks to them, the attack of the ancestral planets froze in midair. The runes were no longer being eroded, but just as the Lesser Sages had predicted, the projections of the Immortals noticed the resistance.

In response, they erupted with a dazzling light that merged with the ancestral planets below them. Then, a far denser and more powerful energy rushed out of the ancestral planets, which burned even brighter than before.

To make matters even more frightening, the Immortals were no longer seated atop the ancestral planets. Now, they stood in front of it. The power they unleashed shook the very fabric of space, and it seemed as though they had come here in person from the other side of the universe.

Boom!

The ancestral planets shuddered, and the waves of crushing pressure made a roaring sound echo across the void of space. Distant celestial bodies trembled, and the asteroids from afar were even knocked off their orbits.

This was what it meant to be an Immortal. A single wave of their hand could affect celestial bodies. The Immortals stood up and down on Earth.

"They've made their move! And they're finally getting serious! This is a real attack now!"

"Great. That Separation of Heaven and Earth is definitely going to crack open!"

"Soon, we can all descend on the heart of the Milky Way Starfield. We will soon be able to explore the birthplace of the Celestial Court."

The twelve Lesser Sages buzzed with excitement as they moved further away. An Immortal would find it hard-pressed to control their power across such a huge distance. A Lesser Sage caught in the crossfire would suffer devastating injuries.

Uncle Jiang's brow creased as he murmured, "I don't think ordinary Immortals can do something like this. I guess the Great Age's Providence is just too tempting after all. Even those old monsters couldn't hold themselves back."

Becoming an Immortal did not mean reaching the final stage of evolution. There were stages beyond, and Uncle Jiang realized that the power of the attacks far exceeded what Immortals could brandish across such a massive distance.

Only something far more terrifying than an Immortal could do something like this.

At the realization, he couldn't help but worry about Lu Yuan. After all, Lu Yuan had to withstand their attacks even though the contingency plan was already active.

On the moon's surface, Lu Yuan felt a crushing pressure boring down on him.

The Immortals had gotten serious, and they were determined to shatter Earth's barrier in a single blow. Even the Yongzhou Cauldron's light flickered dangerously, seemingly teetering on the edge of extinguishing.

However, Lu Yuan knew what had to be done—more blood and a greater sacrifice. He had to unleash the cauldron's full power. Without a word, he poured his blood into the small bronze cauldron. Then, he mustered every ounce of energy in him.

Hum!

The Yongzhou Cauldron resonated, and cascading rays of light rushed out of it. At the same time, an even more ferocious power churned inside it.

Just then, the Immortals attacked once more.

The energy of their ancestral planets converged at one point before slamming into Earth as a beam of incredibly radiant light.

BOOM!

A cataclysmic explosion echoed, and the planet itself shook beneath the onslaught.

Countless golden runes were annihilated, and gashes were torn open in the barrier. Waves of destructive energy spilled onto the globe, and it made everyone feel as if the heavens themselves had decided to obliterate the world.

Elder Ji and the others raised their heads and saw a terrifying sight. Earth's atmosphere itself seemed to have vanished, replaced by golden runes filling the sky and the colossal planets beyond them.

The universe was laid bare before their eyes, and the sight was accompanied by terrifyingly loud explosions akin to thunder. The firmament looked as if a hole had been gouged out of it.

An otherworldly energy also pressed down on their soul.

Were those beings from the Outer Cosmos about to descend in full?

Everyone was shaken, and their hearts rose into their throats as they trembled at the mere thought of it.

It wasn't just them. In every corner of the globe, the Awakened, ordinary citizens, and the mutated beasts looked up. Every living creature was seeing this for the first time, and terror gripped their hearts. Their eyes glazed with the dazed look of those confronting something beyond comprehension.

They were afraid of a future they could not fathom, and they were afraid of the unknown.

In stark contrast to them, the beings from the Outer Cosmos on Earth were elated. Once the barrier was torn apart, their people and elders would be able to descend without any restrictions.

After that, they wouldn't have to keep a low profile anymore. They would no longer be afraid of Lu Yuan, and Earth would become akin to their backyard, where they could come and go as they pleased.

"Lu Yuan, you'd better hurry." Jiang Ningxian looked up, and a trace of anticipation shimmered in her eyes. "Your enemies aren't just Immortals. There are beings even stronger behind them, and you're running out of time."

Despite saying that, she knew that he wouldn't let her down.

BOOM!

Back in space, an even more powerful explosion occurred as a devastating wave of energy crashed down. A third of the golden runes shielding Earth were obliterated in an instant, leaving gaping holes in the barrier.

"Yes! It's working."

"Our worries were entirely unfounded. What can Lu Yuan possibly do?"

"Exactly. All we have to do is wait for the barrier's disappearance, and we can immediately descend."

The twelve Lesser Sages traded remarks back and forth. They were certain that nothing would be able to stop them once the Separation of Heaven and Earth was no more.

Lu Yuan? He was nothing but an arrogant man.

The twelve Lesser Sages practically vibrated with anticipation. They were too eager to descend.

Just then, a voice echoed. It came from the moon, but there was something strange about it. Even though it wasn't loud, it echoed throughout the entire solar system.

"I, Lu Yuan, humbly beseech the sages of antiquity! Lend me your strength! Defend our starfield!"

The voice had come from Lu Yuan. His face was pale, visibly weakened from the blood loss as he stood on the moon's surface. However, a smile lingered on his lips as he faced Earth and bowed slightly toward it.

No one understood what was happening. The twelve Lesser Sages heard him but could make no sense of them.

Before anyone could react, the entire solar system went still as time itself seemed to come to a halt. Then, an indescribable, boundless, and ancient energy erupted from the Yongzhou Cauldron and made a beeline for Earth.
