"Wei Chuyang, what’s wrong with you?" Xing Ming asked hastily, startled by Wei Chuyang’s appearance. "Where are Wei Renwei and Wei Taining? And where’s the food I asked you to buy?"

"Food? What food? You only told us to get money, not to buy food," Wei Chuyang replied, looking utterly confused.

Xing Ming was mortified. He had just promised the members of the Thirteen External Families that they would eat well tonight—a full, satisfying meal. Now, Wei Chuyang had just run in and made a fool of him.

The members of the Thirteen External Families narrowed their eyes, sensing something was amiss. Long Yifei was out of money, which was why he hadn’t fed them all day. So, he had secretly sent Wei Chuyang, Wei Renwei, and Wei Taining out to get some cash.

"So where’s the money you got?" Xing Ming demanded angrily.

"The money we robbed was stolen from us by Ye Liangchen!" Wei Chuyang said, his voice laced with fury. "Not only that, but he killed Wei Renwei and Wei Taining, crippled my Martial Prowess, and beat me into this state!"

An uproar erupted among the members of the Thirteen External Families. Robbery? Xing Ming had actually sent Wei Chuyang, Wei Renwei, and Wei Taining out to rob people? This was an utter disgrace to both the Long Family and the Thirteen External Families.

However, their shock quickly gave way to stunned disbelief. Someone finally asked, "What did you just say, Wei Chuyang? Ye Liangchen killed Wei Renwei and Wei Taining, crippled your Martial Prowess, and beat you up? That’s impossible. He wouldn’t have the guts."

It wasn’t just the Thirteen External Families who were in disbelief; Xing Ming and Long Yifei couldn’t believe it either. Ye Liangchen represented the Fire Seed Company, an ally of the Long Family. While he was highly regarded by the Long Family Head, he held no official position within the family. Even if the trio’s robbery had stained the reputation of the Long Family and the Thirteen External Families, Ye Liangchen had no authority to kill them.

"Are you telling the truth?" Xing Ming pressed.

"Why would I lie to you?" Wei Chuyang roared, furious at being doubted. "When Ye Liangchen attacked me and killed Wei Renwei and Wei Taining, Gu Meng, Nangong Yue, Bai Xi, and Wen Rubing were right there! They can testify!"

At the mention of witnesses, Long Yifei and the members of the Thirteen External Families finally believed him. The crowd erupted. Ye Liangchen had the gall to kill Wei Renwei and Wei Taining? This was an open provocation against the Long Family!

"Ye Liangchen is a dead man," Long Yifei said, his voice brimming with excitement. "The first rule of the Long Family Clan states that while internal conflict isn’t forbidden, a murderer must pay with their life. The tenth rule dictates that if a member of the Long Family or the Thirteen External Families is killed by an outsider, the murderer’s entire family will be exterminated!"

The people from the Xing and Wei Families were ecstatic. This was the perfect chance to get rid of Ye Liangchen. No matter how much the Long Family Head admired him, he couldn’t possibly ignore the clan rules.

Meanwhile, the other eleven of the Thirteen External Families grew worried for Ye Liangchen. None of them wanted to see him die. They knew of the deep-seated enmity between Ye Liangchen and Long Yifei. As long as Ye Liangchen lived, he was destined for a high position within the Long Family—an outcome that would permanently crush any hope Long Yifei had of becoming the Young Master.

"What’s with the crowd?" Nangong Yue’s voice cut through the commotion.

Long Yifei and the members of the Thirteen External Families turned to see Gu Meng, Nangong Yue, Bai Xi, and Wen Rubing approaching.

Wanting to cement Ye Liangchen’s guilt in front of everyone, Long Yifei immediately called out, "Wei Chuyang claims you four witnessed Ye Liangchen kill Wei Renwei and Wei Taining, and then brutally beat him and cripple his Martial Prowess. Is that true?"

"Wei Renwei and Wei Taining are dead? And Wei Chuyang’s Martial Prowess was crippled?" Gu Meng asked, feigning surprise.

"We don’t know anything about that," Bai Xi added.

"Wei Chuyang, are you going senile or developing cataracts?" Nangong Yue spat. "Which one of your eyes saw us watching Ye Liangchen kill those two and cripple you?"

"He must have taken quite a beating. It probably damaged his brain," Wen Rubing remarked coolly.

Seeing the four of them play dumb, Wei Chuyang grew frantic. "You’re lying! You saw everything happen! In fact, you’re the ones who gave me these injuries! How can you deny it? You... you’re just blatantly covering for Ye Liangchen!"

The soaring spirits of Long Yifei and the members of the Xing and Wei families plummeted. They believed Wei Chuyang wasn’t lying, but with the four women refusing to testify, proving Ye Liangchen’s guilt would be difficult.

In contrast, the members of the other families were smiling. Without the women’s testimony, Long Yifei’s faction had no evidence. Ye Liangchen was going to get away with it.

"Ah, I get it now!" Nangong Yue exclaimed, as if struck by a sudden realization. "Long Yifei, you’ve had it out for Ye Liangchen since day one. You’ve opposed him at every turn. But to resort to framing him like this? That’s just pathetic."

It was a masterful counter-accusation. Long Yifei and the members of the Xing and Wei families were practically seething with rage. They had no proof that Ye Liangchen was a murderer, but their constant antagonism toward him had been witnessed by everyone from the Thirteen External Families. If Ye Liangchen used this to lodge a complaint against them with the Long Family Head, the consequences would be dire.

"You’re twisting the truth! That’s all this is!" Wei Chuyang’s face was crimson with rage, his body trembling as he spoke. "Do you think I can’t find evidence just because you won’t testify? I was beaten and my Martial Prowess was crippled in the jewelry store! Ye Liangchen killed Wei Renwei and Wei Taining right outside the shopping center! There were plenty of witnesses, and more importantly, there are security cameras! Once I get that surveillance footage, it will prove I’m telling the truth!"

Gu Meng and the other three gasped. Damn it! This bumpkin Wei Chuyang actually knows about high-tech things like surveillance footage? It’s over! It’s all over! If he gets his hands on that footage, not even God Almighty could save Ye Liangchen.

"Xing Ming, take some men to the shopping center immediately and bring back that surveillance footage!" Long Yifei ordered excitedly.

"Yes, right away." Xing Ming quickly gathered a few men and departed from the Long Family Manor, making a beeline for the shopping center.

Gu Meng, Nangong Yue, Bai Xi, and Wen Rubing panicked. They couldn’t let Xing Ming bring back evidence that would seal Ye Liangchen’s fate. We have to stop him!

"Gu Meng," Long Yifei’s voice was cold. "Are you four currently thinking of ways to stop Xing Ming? Hmph. You will all stay right here, and you will not go anywhere. If you leave without permission, you’ll be considered accomplices in Ye Liangchen’s crime. You and your entire clans will pay with your lives."

He had seen right through their intentions, cutting off any escape with his threat.

This is bad!

The four women’s hearts sank. They were trapped; leaving was no longer an option. Their only hope was to somehow warn Ye Liangchen. But how? They didn’t have cell phones. For a moment, they were as frantic as ants on a hot pan, utterly helpless and kicking themselves for not asking Ye Liangchen to buy them phones earlier.
