Chapter 481: Robbing a Beggar, Ye Xiu Furious
Wen Rubing hurriedly removed the plastic bag from the robber’s head.
When they saw the robber’s face, Gu Meng, Nangong Yue, Bai Xi, and Wen Rubing exclaimed in unison, "Wei Chuyang, is it you?"
This person was none other than Wei Chuyang, a member of the Wei Family sent by Xing Ming to extort money under a falsified Imperial Edict from Long Yifei.
The customers and staff in the jewelry store were stunned. They had just been robbed, but before the fear could truly set in, the robber had already been subdued. Did we just witness a fake robbery?
They looked at Ye Xiu and his four companions, wondering who they were. Ye Xiu had only said a single phrase, "Take him down," and the impossibly beautiful girl in the red dress had leaped up and kicked the robber off his feet. How could such a beautiful girl jump that high while wearing a skirt and high heels? And she kicked that hulking robber all the way to Ye Xiu’s feet like he was a soccer ball. How much strength must that have taken?
"Who sent you to rob the jewelry store?" Ye Xiu asked coldly, looking down at Wei Chuyang sprawled on the ground.
"You don’t have the authority to order me around, do you?" At this point, Wei Chuyang had nothing left to lose. He stood up and stared fearlessly at Ye Xiu. "Ye Liangchen," he said coldly, "your mission is to assist Young Master Fei. You have no right to interfere with what we of the thirteen external families do, and I don’t need to report to you."
"Since you want to take that attitude, we’ll talk a different way," Ye Xiu said with a cold smile. "Beat him."
Gu Meng, Nangong Yue, Bai Xi, and Wen Rubing immediately pounced, unleashing a torrent of punches and kicks on Wei Chuyang. The four girls were all in high heels, and besides Wen Rubing, the others were all above the War God realm. Against Wei Chuyang, who was merely a War God, the beating was so brutal that he started squealing like a pig.
"I’ll talk! I’ll talk!" Wei Chuyang couldn’t stand the pain any longer. The four girls were truly relentless, each blow more vicious than the last. He knew that at this rate, he would be beaten to death in minutes.
"Speak," Ye Xiu said indifferently, taking a seat.
"Young Master Fei sent us out to get money," Wei Chuyang said.
"How many people did he send out?" Ye Xiu asked.
"Three," Wei Chuyang said. "Besides me, there are Wei Renwei and Wei Taining."
"Where are they?"
"Just outside the shopping center."
"How much money did you get?"
Wei Chuyang immediately pushed a backpack toward Ye Xiu and pulled a wad of cash from his pocket. "It’s all here," he said.
Ye Xiu picked up the backpack and saw it was half-full of cash in various denominations, along with a check for one million. He then slung the backpack over his own shoulder.
At that sight, Wei Chuyang was devastated. It had taken the three of them the better part of a day to scrape together that much money, and now Ye Liangchen had just double-crossed them and taken it all?
The staff and customers were dumbfounded. They thought Ye Xiu was a hero acting righteously, but was he just another bandit? A wave of tension filled the room again as they feared Ye Xiu would turn on them next.
Ye Xiu kicked Wei Chuyang in the abdomen. "Get lost," he said coldly. "Cause trouble again, and I’ll kill you!" The kick crippled Wei Chuyang’s Martial Prowess and sent him flying out of the jewelry store.
Seeing this, the staff and customers grew tense again, worried Ye Xiu would now rob them. Instead, Ye Xiu simply motioned to his companions, and the five of them left. It was only then that the staff and customers realized he was not a bandit after all.
"Brother Ye, the jewelry in this store isn’t very nice. Shall we check out another one?" Nangong Yue asked as they left the shop.
Gu Meng, Bai Xi, and Wen Rubing’s faces lit up with anticipation.
Ye Xiu did not answer, his eyes fixed on something down the road. Nangong Yue and the others followed his gaze and saw a crowd gathered in the distance. The sounds of wails and desperate screams drifted over. A woman’s voice, full of terror and despair, pleaded, "Please, no, don’t! That’s my daughter’s life-saving money..."
A man’s harsh voice snarled back, "Let go, or I’ll kill you!"
"Ah!" the woman shrieked. "Just kill me then, but give me back my money..."
"Let’s check it out." With a grim expression, Ye Xiu strode over.
The four girls exchanged a glance and hurried after him. They had a sinking feeling they already knew who was robbing the woman.
Ye Xiu pushed through the crowd and immediately saw a plainly dressed woman in her twenties on her knees, desperately clinging to the leg of a middle-aged man while another man kicked her repeatedly. Ye Xiu recognized the two men; they were Wei Renwei and Wei Taining, the ones Wei Chuyang had mentioned.
On the ground beside her lay a sign with large, bold writing:
"My name is Liu Ying, a worker at the Hemisphere Flour Mill. My daughter, Huang Xiao, is three years old. A year ago, she was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia. Chemotherapy has already used up all our family’s savings. Her condition has now progressed to high-risk, and she needs a bone marrow transplant. The doctors say it will cost between 300,000 and 500,000, but our family simply can’t afford it. Please, kind-hearted people, help save my daughter..."
Ye Xiu understood. The woman, Liu Ying, was begging on the street to raise money for her daughter’s transplant. After managing to collect some donations, she had the misfortune of running into two thugs, Wei Taining and Wei Renwei.
Ye Xiu noticed the crowd was just watching the spectacle. They stood by as Wei Taining and Wei Renwei robbed and beat Liu Ying, yet not a single person stepped in to help.
Wei Renwei had been kicking Liu Ying for a while and had likely broken several of her bones, but she still refused to let go of Wei Taining’s leg. "Let go!" he threatened furiously. "Don’t blame me for finishing you if you don’t!"
"Please, that’s my daughter’s life-saving money! Please give it back to me! I’m begging you... please!" Liu Ying cried, her voice full of desperate pleas.
"Stop wasting time on her," Wei Taining, the man whose leg she was holding, said coldly. "This is drawing too much attention. Just chop off her arm so we can leave."
"Alright." Wei Renwei immediately pulled out a dagger and swung it at Liu Ying’s arm.
A gasp went through the crowd. They had not expected the two thugs to be so vicious. Even so, no one moved to help.
"I dare you to try," Ye Xiu said coldly.
"Well now, who the hell is tired of living and wants to butt in..." Hearing someone intervene, Wei Renwei became furious. He turned, cursing, to see who the busybody was. When he saw Ye Xiu’s face, his brow furrowed, but he showed no fear. "Ye Liangchen," he said coldly, "I’d advise you to mind your own business. What we’re doing has nothing to do with you."
Wei Taining sneered. "Ye Liangchen, I suggest you learn your place. Even if the Clan Leader thinks highly of you, you still have no right to interfere in the Long Family’s affairs."
"I’m making this my business today. What are you going to do about it?" Ye Xiu replied coldly.
