As the words faded, the Shadow Ghost attacked He Luo and the others.

Seeing this, their hearts pounded in terror, and their nerves instantly stretched taut. Facing the Shadow Ghost’s attack, they all moved as one to counter it.

BOOM!

As their attacks collided, a powerful ripple of energy exploded outward, sweeping in all directions.

"Hold on!" Xu Huanhuan held nothing back. Opening her palm, she summoned the white snake once again. In an instant, its small body swelled, transforming in the blink of an eye into a giant serpent over ten meters long!

The giant serpent opened its gaping maw and lunged, attempting to swallow the Shadow Ghost whole.

The Shadow Ghost watched, his expression calm and unhurried. He simply extended a hand, and a powerful Defensive Barrier materialized before him, blocking the giant serpent’s assault. The serpent didn’t stop, however. It coiled its enormous body, trying to ensnare the Shadow Ghost, who immediately retreated.

A flash of anger crossed his face. His opponents were numerous and their strength was not to be underestimated, making them truly troublesome to deal with.

"Take down this monster!" He Luo shouted, seeing their initial assault seemed to suppress it. He and the others breathed a slight sigh of relief. "It’s wary of us now! We must seize this chance and exterminate it in one fell swoop!"

The others nodded in agreement, and the group attacked in unison, hoping to crush the Shadow Ghost on the spot.

However, they had underestimated the Shadow Ghost’s strength.

The creature let out a fierce cry as a terrifying, bone-chilling aura erupted from him, sweeping toward He Luo and the others. Instantly, an oppressive force as heavy as Mount Tai filled the air, threatening to suffocate them and causing their movements to slow considerably.

What’s happening?

Surprise filled their faces, their minds reeling with questions.

The Shadow Ghost was clearly suppressed at the beginning. How did its power suddenly become so overwhelming?

Before they could make sense of it, the Shadow Ghost moved.

WHOOSH!

His figure flashed, vanishing and reappearing as a streak of silver light.

A jolt of shock went through He Luo’s group. They stared intently, trying to track the Shadow Ghost’s position. To their astonishment, his speed was incredible. All they saw was a blur, making it impossible to even catch a glimpse of his form.

Just then, an attack unleashed by the Shadow Ghost descended from the sky, barreling straight toward them. In the nick of time, Xu Huanhuan waved her hand. The giant serpent shot upward to intercept the attack.

BOOM!

A dull impact resounded. The giant serpent let out a piercing shriek. Despite meeting the attack with all its might, it was no match and was instantly overpowered.

As the attack continued to bear down from above, He Luo and the others were shaken. With no time to think, they could only brace themselves as a Defensive Barrier quickly formed above them.

BANG!

A deafening noise erupted. The terrifying shockwave made their bodies feel immensely heavy. A crack appeared on the Defensive Barrier and rapidly spread outward.

"Not good!"

Seeing this, the faces of He Luo and his companions changed drastically. They tried to dodge, but it was too late.

The powerful attack slammed into them. Their faces turned deathly pale as their internal qi and blood roiled, and trickles of blood escaped the corners of their mouths. Like kites with severed strings, they were all sent flying backward, a miserable sight.

The Shadow Ghost sneered. "And you all thought you could take me down? How laughable! A bunch of ants... prepare to become my puppets!"

Hearing the Shadow Ghost’s voice, everyone’s hearts leaped into their throats in terror. If he turned them into Puppets, it would be game over. This thought sent them scrambling backward, desperate to get away from him.

Long Chen and his group also wore grave expressions. The situation was dire. The only thing they could do was retreat from the area for now and try to avoid drawing the Shadow Ghost’s attention.

The Shadow Ghost formed seals with his hands, and a grey Rune Inscription began to spin before him. It then soared into the air, bursting with a dazzling light that shot out in all directions. The light enveloped everyone present. Instantly, both Long Chen’s group and He Luo’s group were bound. Their movements slowed until they were completely ensnared.

Everyone struggled vehemently, but to their dismay, no matter how hard they fought, it was utterly useless.

"Damn it!"

"This thing is so strong, what are we supposed to do now?"

"We have to think of a solution, fast! Otherwise, we’re all dead!"

Fear was etched on the faces of He Luo, Xue Wuying, and the others. For a moment, they were at a complete loss. Meanwhile, the expression on Long Chen’s face grew even more grim.

Suddenly, a powerful binding force enveloped Chu Lingjun, pulling her uncontrollably toward the Shadow Ghost.

"Little girl," the Shadow Ghost said with an indifferent expression, a cold smirk playing on his lips. "Your Constitution seems quite good. Let me start my refinement with you!"

"Sister Chu!"

Tang Le’s and Long Xin’s pupils constricted. They both strained to help Chu Lingjun but couldn’t break free themselves. Lei Shishi was equally helpless.

Long Chen’s heart clenched. He channeled all his strength, desperately trying to break the bonds.

Meanwhile, Chu Lingjun was still being pulled inexorably toward the Shadow Ghost. His eyes were fixed on her, his gaze like that of someone appreciating a masterpiece.

"Excellent! A truly fine specimen! Once refined into a Puppet, she will undoubtedly be a perfect masterpiece!"

With a hearty laugh, the Shadow Ghost reached out, placing his hand on Chu Lingjun’s Tianling Cover and beginning to absorb her Essence, Qi, and Soul.
