Invincible Soul Emperor

Chapter 887: Take Good Care of Xue Zhao

Inside Xue Zhao’s room, the surroundings were so quiet it was as if time itself had come to a halt.

The room was not large, but it was arranged with exquisite elegance. A screen woven from green bamboo divided the inner and outer portions; on the screen were carved delicate patterns of plum, orchid, bamboo, and chrysanthemum, lending a serene and refined air.

Several ink landscape paintings hung on the wall, their mountains shrouded in drifting clouds and mist, lakes tranquil and still, as though telling of a life far removed from worldly clamor.

At the center of the room stood a sandalwood writing desk, upon which lay several ancient books, as if waiting for their owner to resume her reading.

Xue Zhao lay quietly on the bed. A simple white gauze lantern hung at the headboard, its gentle light spilling over her face, making her features appear all the more pure and ethereal.

Light gauze curtains were draped around the bed. A faint breeze brushed past, stirring the curtains so they swayed slightly, like a thin veil of mist.

Xue Zhao’s face was pale as paper, her long eyelashes tightly closed, as if she were struggling within her sleep.

Her breathing was slight yet even, her chest rising and falling gently with each breath, adding a trace of vitality to this silent room.

On the small stand beside the bed sat a blue-and-white porcelain vase holding a few freshly picked orchids. Their faint fragrance spread through the air, seeping into the heart.

Next to it was a delicate little potted plant, its leaves lush and green, as if stubbornly growing in this hush.

There were no unnecessary furnishings in the room; everything appeared simple yet elegant, forming an atmosphere of peace and harmony.

This tranquil room echoed the unconscious Xue Zhao, as though the entire world were guarding this fleeting moment of calm for her.

Her long hair, black as ink threads, spilled over the pillow. Though her expression was peaceful, it could not conceal the pain within.

Xue Zhao’s fingers were slightly curled, as if she were resisting some invisible force in her dreams.

A faint medicinal scent permeated the air—decoctions boiled to ease her pain, exuding a trace of warmth.

Xue Zhao’s room was like a pure land, shutting out the tumult of the outside world.

Everything here seemed to be silently praying for her awakening.

Outside the door, Qi Tian and Qi Sheng looked into the room, worry etched all over their faces.

Qi Tian’s hands were tightly clenched, his brows knit together, his demeanor anxious and uneasy.

He paced back and forth without stopping, muttering under his breath, as though this could lessen the worry in his heart.

"Qi Sheng, when do you think Miss will wake up? She’s been unconscious like this all along, I’m really worried."

Qi Tian’s voice was low and urgent, his eyes filled with concern.

"I heard something big happened in the Secret Realm. Miss suffered such serious injuries—are we just going to sit here and wait?"

Qi Sheng stood to the side, silently watching the room. Though his expression was calm, it could not hide the heaviness inside.

He frowned slightly, his eyes fixed on the unconscious Xue Zhao on the bed, his heart brimming with helplessness and anxiety.

Qi Tian went on, "Let’s go ask some powerful physicians from other clans to take another look. Maybe there’s still some way to help Miss recover faster. I heard there’s a famous doctor in Wuji Immortal Palace, his medical skills are extraordinary—maybe he can heal Miss’s injuries."

There was a trace of urgency and hope in his words, as if he were clutching at the last straw.

Qi Sheng remained silent, a complex emotion flickering in his eyes.

He knew Qi Tian spoke out of concern, but he also understood in his heart that Miss’s injuries were not something ordinary medicine could cure.

He let out a soft sigh and finally spoke: "Qi Tian, the physicians have already done all they can. In Miss’s condition, we can only wait calmly for her to recover on her own. The power of the Clan’s Guardian Stone is far too great—ordinary medical arts can’t possibly deal with it."

Hearing this, Qi Tian became even more anxious, his voice rising a notch: "But we can’t just sit and wait like this! Seeing Miss suffer like this tears me up inside. Patriarch Xue has already been blinded—are we really out of any other options?"

Qi Sheng continued to gaze calmly into the room, his eyes firm: "Qi Tian, I understand how you feel. But we must calm down and not let anxiety take over. Only if we stay composed can we help Miss when the time comes. Right now, the most important thing is to stay by her side and ensure her safety."

Hearing this, Qi Tian, though still anxious, slowly calmed down when he saw Qi Sheng’s composure.

He nodded heavily, a hint of resolve flashing in his eyes: "You’re right, Qi Sheng. No matter what, we have to protect Miss."

At this moment, Xue Feng suddenly appeared outside the door.

Seeing Xue Feng’s figure, Qi Tian and Qi Sheng both showed a flash of joy in their eyes and hurried over.

"Young Master Xue Feng, you’re here!" Qi Tian asked with eager expectation, "Have you found a way to wake Miss up?"

"Yes, Young Master Xue Feng, you must have a way, right?" Qi Sheng also asked impatiently.

However, Xue Feng only shook his head lightly, a trace of helplessness appearing on his face: "No. I haven’t found any way to wake Xue Zhao."

Upon hearing this, Qi Tian and Qi Sheng’s faces immediately dimmed.

Qi Tian’s shoulders trembled slightly, a hint of despair flashing in his eyes: "How could this be, Young Master? We were all counting on you to find a way to wake Miss..."

Qi Sheng lowered his head as well, the light in his eyes gradually fading, his voice turning heavy: "Young Master, does Miss truly have no hope left?"

Deep dejection and pain surfaced on both their faces, and the last sliver of hope in their hearts crumbled with it.

Seeing their reaction, Xue Feng sighed, his tone tinged with gravity: "I know you’re both very worried about Xue Zhao, but this time I’ve come to tell you something else important. The selection for the Saint Position is about to begin. If Xue Zhao doesn’t wake up soon, she may truly lose her chance at the Saint Position."

Qi Tian and Qi Sheng exchanged a look, the worry on their faces deepening.

Qi Tian’s brows furrowed tightly, unease in his voice: "Young Master, the Saint Position means everything to Miss. What should we do? Are we just going to watch her miss it?"

Qi Sheng clenched his fists as well and said in a low voice: "Young Master, we all know about Xue Wei’s scheme, but with Miss like this, there’s no way she can join the selection. Do we really have no way at all?"

Ever since Xue Zhao fell into a coma, the usually taciturn Qi Sheng had changed.

So long as it concerned Xue Zhao, he would always speak up.

Xue Feng was silent for a moment, a glint of resolve flashing in his eyes: "We can’t give up any hope. Although Xue Zhao is unconscious now, we must do everything we can to protect her and buy time. No matter what, I will not let Xue Wei’s scheme succeed. You two must also continue to guard Xue Zhao and allow no one to approach her."

Hearing Xue Feng’s words, deep worry and helplessness flashed in Qi Tian and Qi Sheng’s eyes.
