(BL) Taming the Field Guide

Chapter 267: Is this an initiation?

It was a damn miracle that Kellen was tolerating this kind of treatment. For a moment, and only a moment, he realised that people, civilians, would not tolerate this kind of hovering. If Kellen wasn’t who he was, if he hadn’t felt what he had felt, he would have pitched a fit over how Rhys was treating him.

How, even in a bathroom stall, Rhys was pressed against his back. Touching him, his hand splayed against Kellen’s stomach. It felt less like he was watching him and supporting him as he peed, and instead that they were going to do something naughty. It was already ridiculous that the man wouldn’t let him use one of the urinals outside. No, he had to go inside the stall with Rhys blocking him in. He wasn’t even sure how Rhys was going to get out of here in one piece.

"Rhys." Kellen warned as the other man’s fingers twitched. Kellen didn’t have this kind of kink, and he had heard of this. "Keep your fingers exactly where they are, or I’m going to get angry." Kellen warned. Rhys paused.

"Oh?" Rhys asked as the sound of Kellen peeing filled their ears. He’d been so nervous up until this point that he hadn’t been able to. Maybe he should have just sat down, but he didn’t think that Rhys would be like...this. He had thought that the man might have waited outside of the stall.

Kellen sighed, annoyed more at the situation then at Rhys himself.

"Yes. I’m not happy, and I’m tolerating this behaviour right now because I know you care about me." Kellen warned and felt Rhys’ fingers twitch. They didn’t move lower though. Instead, Rhys leaned in and pressed a kiss to the back of Kellen’s neck, near his ear.

"My apologies. I didn’t consider how weird this might be for you. I mean, I’ve already seen your dick before, so..." Rhys trailed off and Kellen felt his face warm.

"One could argue that you’ve seen my dick at its best, Rhys. This is not at its best." Kellen sighed. "Well, at least I know I don’t have this kink." He mumbled and felt Rhys begin to shake behind him. He was laughing, silently, and Kellen just tried to focus on finishing the task at hand.

Finally done, he let out a relieved sigh and flushed the toilet.

"Now, how are we getting out of this?" Kellen asked and didn’t have to wait. Rhys somehow managed to maneuver them until they were both outside of the stall. Kellen didn’t even care to ask, instead pulling him to the sinks so that they could both wash their hands. "Did you need to go to the bathroom?" Kellen asked and Rhys smiled at Kellen in the mirror on the wall.

"No, love. I’m fine. Here, let me dry your hands." Kellen stood there as Rhys used his powers for something so small and insignificant. He would admit though, it was nice that he could count on him for these little things.

They left the bathroom shortly after, hand in hand, and Kellen was a little surprised to notice that while the bathroom had several stalls, there were a few Espers waiting outside. Kellen found himself nodding to them and watched as the next in line went in. That was a rather strange interaction, since Kellen knew that the bathroom had been a substantial size. There had been several stalls. Rhys had just been paranoid and that was the reason why he had squeezed into the stall with him.

Kellen realised, belatedly, that they had been the only ones in the bathroom when they went in, and no one else had come in. Why was that?

It was only after Kellen and Rhys had passed them and Kellen looked behind them that he realised that something strange was going on. The first Esper who had been waiting in line had gone into the bathroom and now that he was leaving, another Esper was stepping inside. Strange.

Kellen didn’t have long to worry about it as Rhys pulled him towards a rather complicated-looking door. It had several Espers outside, a few thinner, sweeter looking men and women outside in the hallway as well. Kellen wondered how big the room was on the inside. The couples, because it was clear from their interactions that they were, paused when they saw Kellen and Rhys approach.

A few even gasped and covered their mouths, staring at Kellen and Rhys like they were celebrities or something. Kellen was rather confused until he saw Sergei coming from the other side of the hallway holding an overflowing bin in his arms. He didn’t have to since he could have used his abilities, but he seemed determined. He nodded at Kellen and Rhys, sliding his gaze a little longingly towards the others.

It was annoying to Kellen that Brent couldn’t be here. He should be here, even if Sergei and Brent’s relationship was ’relatively’ new. They’d finalised it, put a nice bow on it, but it had been months in the works. The fact that Brent wasn’t able to be here because there was a chance others wanted to harm him and would take this chance to do so? It was fucked up, and made Kellen’s blood boil.

"Guide Woods? Are you-Is that really you in the flesh? I’m not imagining things?" Kellen turned, his anger dissipating as a Guide approached, her eyes big and wide, her face soft and gentle, and a beast of an Esper trailing behind her completely wrapped around her finger. Kellen turned his attention towards her soft, comfortable-looking clothes, the soft soled shoes on her feet, and the giant, gleaming blue gem on her ring finger.

Kellen nodded, smiling at her.

"That is me. What can I do for you?" Kellen asked and watched as her eyes lit up from within. Kellen didn’t need to ask her Class. It wasn’t because she was wearing anything that signified that she was an S Class, it was more that Kellen felt the same kind of aura he felt when he was around Charlie.

She smiled brightly and before Rhys or her partner could react, she reached for Kellen and pulled him down in a fierce hug.

"Oh! I’ve just been dying to meet you! You’re so much more handsome in person!" She said, squeezing him tightly. Kellen let out a low laugh.

"That would entirely be because of my mother." Kellen told her, used to this kind of sweet treatment from when he was a child. She held him tighter for a moment longer, before she pulled back, sliding her hands to his shoulders and giving them a squeeze.

"Oh, look at that face! And that beautiful eye. Is the other eye okay?" She asked and Kellen nodded. He moved, reaching for the eyepatch and moved it to the side. She stared, several of the other Guides and Espers peering over to see Kellen’s full face. She made a mournful noise in the back of her throat.

Kellen still didn’t even know who this woman was, but her feelings were sincere. Kellen could feel it in her aura.

"Oh you poor thing. Is your Esper taking proper care of you?" That was a bit jarring to hear. Kellen, being taken care of by Rhys? Sure, it was something that was assumed, or should be given that that was how it normally was, but Kellen hadn’t heard anyone say that out loud before. Kellen blinked, dropping the eyepatch as he considered what words he should say.

"That’s a given." Kellen finally said, unaware of the tension that had filled the air when he’d even paused for a few seconds. "However, I also have our Healer and several other experts taking care of me." Kellen told her. She beamed, nodding as if that made perfect sense and that she didn’t need more information because she already knew everything.

"Good good. Now, come here. You can take your Esper with you, but the others would like to meet you. It’s not often we get a new S Class, and especially not one that’s so strong either." She said, giving him a teasing smile and a wink over her shoulder as she took Kellen’s hand in her own and began to tug him along.

Kellen felt like he had no other choice. He was a bit worried though. What if he got stuck in the room with everyone when they began the second part of the meeting? Kellen glanced around at all of the Espers that were still around and relaxed. They wouldn’t remain behind not when such a serious conversation was being discussed. Kellen had a feeling Rhys would keep an eye on the time too. Or freeze it.

Was Kellen feeling a little bit happy that he had an Esper who would freeze time for him? Of course.

Kellen squeezed Rhys’ hand in his own, tugging him along as Sergei snorted, shaking his head. Amusement was in his gaze though as he watched the couple be dragged off. He’d stay outside, keep an eye on things. The air felt particularly unusual around here right now.

Kellen was pulled into the room where the Guides were left to mix and mingle while the Espers had their meeting upstairs. Like upstairs, there were lots of comfy couches, soft carpets and four large projectors that showed the meeting upstairs. They were still running and were still picking up sound so the Guides could hear the chatter amongst the Espers only a floor above. They didn’t seem to mind or pay attention to them.

Instead, all of the Guides seem to be chatting to each other, eating off of platters that were being brought in by very willing Espers. A few tables scattered the room, laden with food that would make his Dad very interested. Someone here was a good cook, and the Guides were being treated like royalty.

Kellen almost snorted. That was to be expected for city Guides. That was what they wanted, after all, and that was their right. They were doing very important work, and also, it was their Esper’s right to care for them as well. These were acts of love, and Kellen understood that now.

Especially after he’d gifted Rhys a ring he’d personally had made. Kellen squeezed Rhys’ hand tightly. The woman who had taken Kellen’s hand in her own had slipped her other hand in between the large, thick fingers of the Esper who had stood behind her. It was clear that he belonged to her, and she was pleased with it.

Kellen wondered how old she was. She didn’t appear to be as old as his parents, but she also seemed to lack wrinkles. He knew that there were treatments for that, so that wasn’t exactly an accurate gauge. Her long blonde hair was wavy, falling in a pretty curtain and he couldn’t tell if her eyes were naturally blue because she’d been staring at him with the eyes of a Guide. Her cheeks were rosy, and she was round in a way that city Guides were.

Cute. She was cute, if Kellen liked women. However, he tended to think that Rhys was far more cute and handsome then she was. Personal preference, of course. No offense meant.

She stopped tugging him when she got to the far corner where a few couches were huddled together and lots of blankets and pillows had been gathered and shoved in between them. It kind of looked like a giant bed and several forms were lounging across it. About four other people were there, and from the glowing, eyes, they were all A Class or higher. Kellen didn’t have to guess though.

They were all S Classes, and Guides at that. A few Espers lingered nearby, clearly their partners and Kellen stared at them as his guide waved her hands.

"Tada! I got him, everyone! It’s Guide Woods!" She declared and Kellen gave a small bow.

"Hello, everyone." Kellen greeted, aware that they were all sizing him up. Kellen didn’t mind. He was used to this, it just tended to happen around a campfire when it normally happened to him.

"The pleasure is all ours. Is that your Esper in tow?" A voice rasped, familiar in a way. Their vocal chords had been damaged, liked Carlos’ had. Kellen didn’t react, just nodded. "Put him off to the side, then, and come closer. We want to chat with our newest member." The voice spoke and Kellen stared at the person who had. His guess? Female, but he didn’t want to make any assumptions.

The burns hid a lot of their features.
